Staying in lodges at weekend for my  birthday and went to book table for meal Saturday night 6th January . Sign outside states to book online so friend booked table for 6.30 Saturday night for party of 5. Walked down from lodge to find couldn’t get in. My friend HAD received email confirmation of booking earlier that day. Rang bell for reception and was told restaurant closed all of January! Asked if anywhere else and was told try Otterburn village! We were all dressed up, my sister, a diabetic, had taken her insulin in perpetration for meal. Had to go back to lodge and ring round trying to find somewhere else. Luckily friend who took car hadn’t had a drink so able to drive to another restaurant a few miles away. Redesdale Arms which I would highly recommend. Leaving lodges today the  notice is still outside restaurant advising people to book online !

Shocking customer service 

We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed the experience. On the first and last evenings we dined in and on both occasions thought the food very good. Breakfasts were excelent.
Our room was clean and had clearly recently been refurbished with new carpeting etc.
All in all a very good choice to stay if you want peace and quiet.

A very nice stay.

Lovely hotel, staff extremely welcoming and food delicious. Owner  Paul, couldn't do enough to help us and waitress in bar was very cheerful and chatty.  The room was comfortable and warm and we were located within easy access of outside door as we had a puppy with us.

Welcoming and accommodating

I spent a night at this lovely hotel because I was attending a wedding nearby. The service I received was exceptional from start to finish, with staff going far over and above to help. My veggie breakfast was absolutely perfect. I cannot recommend this lovely place highly enough. 

Outstanding service 

We stayed for one night. There was other family staying too as we were at a family wedding. The rooms were nice/clean. We had an evening meal. Restaurant and bar area lovely and modern and relaxing.The food was superb. I had chicken burger and sticky toffee pudding. My partner had lamb. Unfortunately never got owners name but she was extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast  - full English is the nicest I’ve had to date. A superb place to stay. Great service from check-in to the restaurant. Beautiful decor all through without being over-the-top. Its simplicity is gorgeous. It's easily accessible to other hotels and venue centres around. I give this hotel an excellent rating. I highly recommend and I'd stay here again.

Gorgeous Simplicity

I loved the beauty of the simplicity of the decor from the bedroom to the restaurant. The service we received was also top-notch. I'd definitely stay here again and would recommend.

Great place to stay

2 couples booked via a groupon deal. This included a £20 per person meal allowance. I previously emailed and agreed a 4pm sitting for lunch which we did, meal OK but beef was so fatty it was pretty un eatable. I checked again via email that the bar would not be closed after lunch and was told no it would still be open .
At 5.45 we were told that the bar area was to close in 15 mins and could we take our drinlks to our rooms and finish them there. It was an absolute disgrace and totally unacceptable, as the rooms were freezing and no where to sit and relax. 
The breakfast was so poor comprising of around 5 baked beans and 1.5 mushrooms cut un half it was pathetic.
I emailed them twice complaining and not once did they acknowledge them.
Take my advice and definitely do not stay there its a joke

Do not go in a sunday evening

We had the unfortunate pleasure of staying here on Friday the 9th of September.

There were a number of serious issues with our stay which have been raised with management via email and all of our correspondence is now being ignored.

The rooms here are archaic and the food is dreadful. The staff are rude and took money from us on checkout, which they were not permitted to do so. 

If I do not receive a response from management to my emails within the next 48 hours, I will post a further review detailing every aspect of our horrendous experience.

DO NOT STAY HERE

I don’t normally write a review but have been so disappointed I feel the need to warn about the terrible management.  The hotel
Itself is okay in the bar/restaurant area however rooms are small and grubby our shower and sink didn’t release water beds bumpy, well done to cleaning staff as cleanliness was immaculate.  We have a few rooms as attending a wedding at a local venue all agreed the accommodations was overpriced and not worth what we paid for it … we had different opinions of breakfast the menu was really good and everything was cooked to order … it got a thumbs up
Apart from eggs being over cooked.  The waitresses were friendly and fantastic. Now the bad point - we booked 3 rooms had to cancel 1 and was told there would be no cancellation fee obviously not as we were charged for all 3.  Several attempts to sort out the issue were promised that a manager would be in touch..,  well done management/owners for not having the guts to speak to guests with complaints and allowing your staff to take the brunt … absolutely disgraceful would not recommend
