Ground floor room right by the car park. Useful when unloading the car. Car park is tight, but there were plenty of spaces, and the hotel allowed us to leave the car there for a few hours after check-out while we explored the city centre

The Room: As soon as we entered, we noticed a damp and musty smell. The room was tidy, but I was not so sure how clean the place was. You didn’t feel inclined to touch anything. There was a sofa at one end of the room which had seen better days, and frankly the room would have been better if they removed it. There was a kettle with biscuits, tea, coffee, etc. Also a hair dryer and flat screen tv.

The bathroom: Plenty of toiletries, but the sink and shower cubicle did not look very clean. The towels smelled musty, and I should have brought my own!

Wifi available (although did not use it), and breakfast included, which was fair.

Reservation via booking.com at £148.58 for four of us. I felt it was overpriced for the standard of the room, though it could be a nice place to stay (if they undergo a MAJOR refurbishment).

It’s about a 20 minute walk into the City Centre, but there is not much choice for food in the immediate vicinity. 

I do not think I would stay here again unless there was no other choice. However, they do seem to be fully booked for many of the days.

Overall poor, but good location and free car parking, and breakfast included

 I would not recommend this hotel, the room was very dusty , the basin in shower room was dirty, the whole room needed a clean , the towels were a bit old. The bed was ok but a lot of dust behind the head board.  I did report it and I was told ( all I CAN DO IS TELL THE CLEANING LADY  ). SOMEONE DID CLEAN THE BASIN WHILE WE WERE OUT. There was only one man on reception, who seemed to be not very
 interested in what I had to say.
Breakfast although a couple of things were missing of the menu was not to bad. We stay only one night. The hotel was very tired.

Poor

My overall rating is average but, I think it's between average and very good. To us it was not as bad as some reviews indicate. It is an old house hence it has some oldie furniture in the rooms but, this seems to give it some character. Plenty of car parking at the rear of the hotel, they don't mind you leaving car there before check in time so you can do the short walk up to The Folly, for boat cruises. Staff very pleasant, friendly excellent breakfast choices.

Not that bad a hotel

This hotel is horrendous and disgustingly filthy!! It's in serious need of a health & safetly visit! 
Milish the male hotel assistant was rude and sarcastic and very uncomodating. We booked a quiet room 4 months prior to our visit. On arrival our room was facing the busy road where traffic was on going all night. I also requested soya milk for breakfast due to diary allergy. No soya milk was available.
Our room was disgustingly filthy. The surroundings are extremely dated and the hotel is in need of one massive refurb.
There was a sign on the stairway that me apologised for refurb works but there was no evidence of any works going on. One previous review even states this and that was in April. 
Milish the male assistant obviously went to the Basil Faulty school of excellence do his customer service qualities. 
The ridiculously over priced at £95 per night.!!!! 
Please save your money and go elsewhere. This place needs be closed down!! 

Horrendous!! Disgusting!!! Wished I'd read reviews before I had booked!!!

Helpful staff are what stopped me giving this hotel one star rating.
Sheets were clean and smelled fresh, but the other reviews are correct when they say the place is in dire need of a refurb. The pictures speak for themselves. Dead flies, mould, tatty worn fabric everywhere, absolutely disgusting! worst part is that this room cost £89!!!
It should really have cost £45/£50 - tops. Def avoid.
