Sunday evening carvery first class.  Landlady obviously has a good attitude with staff and customers.  Apparently they were short staffed but it definitely didn’t show - great relaxed atmosphere in well kept restaurant/bar areas.  Carvery was delicious- good selection of meat and veg perfectly cooked and hot.  Good selection of deserts- sticky toffee pudding and custard recommended.!!  Well done everyone for five Star service and food

Great food and staff

We had always spoken about visiting this pub after meeting the couple who run it on our return airport transfer in Mexico, Oct 22 and it certainly did not disappoint! Excellent food & huge portions! A great place for traditional & hearty pub grub, we will be sure to go back next time we are in the area! Unfortunately didn’t get to the meet the couple again but hopefully they see this review so that they know we came to visit after them telling us the good things about it - Highly recommend :)

Fabulous pub grub!

Fantastic evening. Had Johnny's leek and potato soup absolutely gorgeous. Then had goats cheese and mushroom burger with fries cooked to perfection. Staff very happy and friendly, nothing to much bother. Great family night out

Excellent pub great food and beer Jackie made you feel so welcome the minute you walked in we went on a Sunday there was live entertainment outside and sport on in the bar the bedroom had everything you could possibly want even a coffee machine 

Would definitely stay again 

They couldn’t have done more to make us happy.

This isn’t a posh pub restaurant, nor is it a ropey pub. It was just what was needed after a long day on the beach. 

We arrived with no booking, on a busy summer holiday period and on a Sunday carvery special. Welcoming and warmly received we were quickly shown to a table. 

A simple menu with a good selection of ‘pub grub’. When it arrived it was obviously a little bit special. Warning; the portions are large. Rare is it that I can’t finish a plate and this was one of those times. 

We had 2 double stack burgers (this can be a single but not shown on the menu), chicken burger, dirty nachos and two portions of garlic bread. Total cost with some drinks was around £71 for the four of us. We were offered takeaway boxes for our leftovers which was nice. The burgers were really well cooked and a good thick patty too. 

If I were being super picky, I mean really picky, perhaps the triple-cooked chips weren’t as good as the rest, but they were still very tasty. 

When serving my burger, the waiter accidentally dropped it off the plate. He was very polite and apologetic as was the manager. They refused me paying for it even though it wasn’t anyone’s fault.

Good, honest, friendly, local pub grub.

Best carvery I have ever eaten. The beef was succulent and thickly sliced. The gammon juicy. Vegetables excellently cooked and the gravy glorious. Price wise reasonable @less than £15 each. Staff are very polite and helpful. Definitely worth a visit but book first to avoid disappointment.

A really enjoyable visit to this pub near where we were on holiday.  There was a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff, all before we even say down
Two of us ordered the rump steak. I wouldn't normally order a rump steak in a non steak eating place as my previous experience has been that we are served an inferior cut of steak. This wasn't the case, we both ordered our steak medium-rare and both were delighted with perfectly cooked steaks. These were served with chips, onion rings, tomato, large mushroom, and a rocket salad. I also had the blue cheese sauce, all tasted amazing! 

Another in our group ordered the curry of the day (chicken pathia on our evening). He was delighted with his meal, more chicken than an Indian restaurant, sauce wasn't quite the same as an Indian restaurant, but he still really enjoyed it. 

Another person had the steak and ale pie. Steak was tender and in a lovely sauce.

One person had the chocolate fudge cake (we all had a spoonful) it was soft and beautiful.

If anyone is looking for somewhere to eat out, we would all recommend The Farmer's Arms Inn in St Merryn.

Brilliant food

Visited here twice this week on our holiday to Porthcothan Bay. We took our 2 dogs in a buggy and couldn't have been looked after better. 
Both meals we had were superb and the desserts are to die for. Would highly recommend this place and the Staff are wonderful.

Party of 4 of us dined here tonight - excellent carvery, warm welcome from the Landlady Jackie - staff could not do enough for us.  Food so good, fire burning and everyone happy around us.  Plenty of parking for everyone. 100% recommend if you are craving a Sunday Roast or weekly food.

Excellent and  Welcoming Pub!!

Called very last minute on Sunday to book in for a carvery for 10 people and they managed to fit us in! Jacqui was incredible and her customer service was second to none, even went above and beyond for those who didn’t want a roast dinner. 
We came down for a holiday from Taunton, would thoroughly recommend, very lovely country, local pub and the food was second to none!
