Vine Cottage - B&B

We have just enjoyed a couple of nights at lime tree cottage, the hostess was delightful so friendly and the welcome was warm. 
Breakfast was wonderful, our twin room was perfect, clean warm and very comfortable.
Love the chickens and thank them for their eggs.
We were over joyed to come home to a hot choc sachet and an Easter egg.

A perfect B& B😊

The website for this property requires updating. The main page shows a lounge that is no longer in use and hasn't been since Covid. We were told it was down to flood damage..... we should have been told on the phone when calling to book. Another lounge area is also shown in the conservatory, this no longer exists either. Other photographs were also misleading and very dated.

The proximity of the main A390 was the main issue. It is the other side of the fence to the cottage. We stayed on a Sunday night and traffic died down a little 2-4am but otherwise it was like sleeping on the actual road. Trucks, motorbikes and all other vehicles were deafening. Closing the window made no difference. Despite being on Google maps, it is not possible to gage how noisy it actually is here. 

We hoped the breakfast may go someway to helping us recover from a sleepless night. However, this was not the case. Scrambled eggs done in the microwave were like rubber, which was such a shame as the hens are located behind the property. Soggy bacon, no baked beans served on a cold plate. No choice of bread given when we ordered and only multgrain was provided.

Overall, disappointing and we cancelled our second night. We paid in full for both nights. We thought it wise not to argue given the owners deminer towards us. 

Not if you want any sleep....

It's a nice old cottage and the owners are friendly and happy to help. You can even take your dog(s) with you. It's in a pretty good spot to reach most places in the County too; obviously some towns will take longer to reach than others! We'll most likely be going back at some point.

Nice Place with Friendly People

I stayed at Vine Cottage last year with friends and the hosts and accommodation were so good I decided to return this year with family and our dog.  

As with last years trip, Paula & Simon were great.  The rooms were spotlessly clean with tea & coffee readily available.  Breakfast was lovely, full English cooked fresh as per our request and cereals in boxes available with individual quaint little bottles of milk.  

Our dog was welcomed as much as we were.  

As with my last visit, nothing was too much trouble and the hosts were available if we needed anything.  They advised the best places to visit.  They even advised of a brilliant boat trip we went on where our dog could come along top!

I highly recommend Vine Cottage and will be back again next year if not later this year.

Lovely

Wonderful little cottage,  the room was gorgeous. Comfortable and warm,  all mod cons,  en suite bathroom with a fantastic shower. 
The hosts,  Paula and Simon,  were so lovely and friendly,  made us feel very welcome and at home. Pet friendly,  too! The dog loved it, and the gardens were beautiful. Easy access to a lot of the tourist areas,  and private parking on site by the cottage. 
Highly recommended! We will definitely visit again.

Idyllic!

This beautiful cottage was our quarter for a week during our Cornwall vacation. Almost all destinations in Cornwall can be reached in a maximum of one hour, much is even a few minutes away. The rooms and bathrooms are beautiful and large. The hosts prepare the breakfast individually, with the choice leaving no wishes open. (Tip: The eggs come from the house's own chickens). The nearby street is almost unheard of. A special highlight is the wonderful garden, which is obviously cared for with much dedication. The hosts are very warm and helpful and happy to give tips for beautiful days in Cornwall.

Beautiful cottage in the heart of Cornwall with warm hosts

We stayed at this lovely cottage B & B for a few days in May. We turned up at short notice, needing a break from the business of selling our house. The cottage is very traditional and just lovely. 
Paula and Simon made us feel right at home and nothing was too much trouble. 
We recommend them really highly. If you want a quaint, comfy cottage B & B, this is the place to come.

Lovely short break

This is a charming cottage, full of character. The owners were polite and friendly & made us feel very much at home during our 3 night stay. The room was warm and very comfortable with tea & coffee making facilities provided. The en-suite with shower was extremely clean with ample towels provided.
The breakfast was amazing with a great variety of choice available. 
Close to all attractions and amenities. 
I would definitely recommend the Rashleigh arms at Charlestown for an excellent evening meal.
Probably not the best place to stay if you have mobility issues, but otherwise, would 100% recommend.
Thank you Simon & Paula, a very much needed relaxing stay.

Warm & Welcoming

A proper B & B just as they should be! Paula and Simon are perfect hosts and create a relaxed land homely atmosphere. My wife and I stayed for just two nights and would have stayed longer but for family commitments at home. Breakfast is as good as it gets with quality produce and a wide choice. Paula will keep feeding you till you drop! Just two tips about staying here or anywhere in Cornwall or Devon. Firstly, don't book through an online agent ........ Get the contact details for the B & B and speak to the owner - you'll get a better deal. Secondly, don't rely on your satnav to get you round. Many of the roads are narrow and winding, however have a 60mph speed limit. You'd be lucky to reach 20 mph to travel safely. Use a map and stick to A roads if you can. We would stay again in the blink of an eye 🙂.

Absolutely charming!

We arrived fairly late after a long drive and were greeted by the owner, Paula, on arrival who showed us to our room in the most beautiful cottage. The step up into the property from the road is high, which is noted on the website so no surprises! 
 
We were led up a set of stairs, to a small landing area where there are four closely situated doors, all very cosy. 

Upon entering the room, there were clean towels laid out, and a fresh cake (bonus!). 

Lovely, cosy rooms, as you'd expect in a cottage of this age. Toiletries including shampoo & conditioner,  they've thought of everything.  Not just a standard kettle, coffee & tea but a fancy coffee machine too and digital radio as well as TV. 

The room was exceptionally clean and it all felt extremely safe. The owners ensured all guests felt comfortable in all areas of the b&b. 

Upon my arrival to the breakfast table each morning, I was asked if I would like tea or coffee and my order was taken for breakfast, all freshly cooked to my specification.  There were also options of cereal, yoghurts & fruits as well as home made jam and a choice of white or brown bread. 

The hosts were lovely, nothing was ever too much trouble.  Very approachable and easy going, they dvised places to visit and the best routes and car parking as best they could.

The garden is beautifully kept and extremely calming and peaceful and I loved sitting out there.  I felt very well rested staying here and would definitely return.

Our arrival was failry late  following a ten hour drive (to be expected on a Saturday on a bank holiday weekend). We must have disturbed another guests dog as it was barking a bit at us heading up the stairs.  A short while later I popped back down and was speaking with our host, Paula and another guest stormed downstairs causing a scene. She then went back up banging and shouting at her partner they were leaving. They made a big scene and a lot of commotion.  Paula handled this extremely well.  They were apparently annoyed at the barking dog, even though they had dogs of their own!  As soon as everyone was settled in, the dog settled and we had a fantastic sleep. 

My advice would be, if you want a pet friendly break, in a place that is peaceful, 
calming, tranquil and restful then
do book here.  Nothing was too much 
trouble and Paula & Simon were great hosts.

I will definitely be back.
