The staff were very friendly and helpful.  We were given a beautiful room, overlooking the harbour - it was very clean, comfortable and well-appointed.  We had arrived in Mousehole at lunch time, so had what we thought would be a snack lunch at the Ship Inn - the food was delicious and plentiful, to the extent that we couldn't face a full evening meal later on and just had some starters!
It needs to be said, however, that several items on the menu were not available and, when we arrived for breakfast the next morning, we were told that the chef hadn't turned up and so we had cereal and toast.  This was slightly disappointing but not a major issue for us and the manager did reduce our bill to compensate us, which we were happy with.  To put this in perspective, we were visiting at the end of January and were, I believe, the only overnight guests.  I realise that it may not be cost-effective to provide a full menu and, from other places we visited, it is apparent that staffing is a general problem - made far worse by the fact that many workers can't afford to live in the places where they work because of inflated prices due to holiday lets and second homes.  Anyway, enough politics.
The hotel doesn’t have its own parking but there is public parking nearby.
Stepping outside in the morning to a beautiful, clear day and watching the sun rise directly in front of us was worth the price on its own.

A fabulous overnight stay

Well the good news is that all the staff were absolutely lovely and as helpful as they could be. However there seems to be a real communication problem between the booking system and the Ship itself so that the "superior seaview double room" I booked ended up with me in a very grubby and worn single room in the annexe next door. Not impressed! Especially as, for out of season, the tariff was pretty expensive...
Also, this lovely old historic building is definitely not for those with poor balance or mobility... lots of stairs and uneven floors
Sorry to be negative, Ship's staff, because you did try to put things right so maybe I'll give you another go sometime and hope things are better.... much much better...

Poor booking communication

Excellent. Great staff, fab location and have booked another stay at another sister owned pub.

Only two issues, the shower (room 11 was like standing under mist)  and the English breakfast could have been better; BUT for the money top rated.

Great stay.

A very disappointing one night birthday treat stay! Booked primarily for the fact the location boasted a 'full English breakfast' and had excellent food reviews. We got up early for said breakfast only to be informed it was unavailable! Promised a 10% refund by the  'acting manager' (with a very poor attitude) which never materialised. She also refused to let me speak to the proper manager. We paid £32 to buy a full English in Falmouth as an alternative. I wrote an email of complaint which was IGNORED twice. It felt like the breakfast was a hook and that the 'hastily' thrown together alternative of cereal, toast (stale bread) was a familiar routine after a busy night at the restaurant. This ruined a visit to see the Mousehole lights, as a birthday treat, which was long in the making. I'm pleased others had a good experience here,  unfortunately the failure to respond to complaints or follow through even when Hotels.com attempted to intervene says it all. We had a few other minor niggles but the lack of breakfast was the deal breaker for us.

Beware: full English breakfast advertised ... but not always delivered

I stayed in a double room on the first floor and the view of the harbour from the bay window was picturesque.  The room was comfy and everything worked (TV, heating, WiFi etc).  The ensuite was compact (you wouldn't be able to swing "The Mousehole Cat" in there), albeit was clean and the shower was good. 

All the staff were pleasant and hospitable.  Notably the waitress who served me breakfast on both mornings was super.  

Breakfast was appetizing and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening meal; it was all very good quality.  Also, serving food from late afternoon is a real plus.  

Thank you to all at the Ship Inn, who made my few days away very enjoyable.  The weather was pretty parky and bright, which made Mousehole so charming.

Thank you for a lovely few days in January

We would highly recommend this venue. Fantastic staff, friendly a highly enjoyable stay with beautiful views. Rooms were clean, breakfast superb and the pub has entertainment. We were there on a Thursday, Quizz night great fun and Friday they have live music. We will certainly be back.

Fantastic Stay

Great spot in Mousehole overlooking the harbour and our room was lovely, spotless and comfortable with a nice selection of teas in the room. Dog friendly which is great (doggie treats available but no longer give a sausage to the dog at breakfast which may seem trivial but it was a lovely touch in the past) Unfortunately at this visit the atmosphere has changed from when we stayed in August for my husband’s birthday. In general the day/evening staff seemed miserable except for Lisa who was very welcoming at breakfast, warm, professional, helpful and friendly, just as before. There was another guy working in the kitchen who was lovely just as before. It was a shame that we didn’t feel as comfortable this time as the mood definitely affected the service. There was however a good fun quiz one night done by Evan and live music the next. 

Seems to have lost it's friendliness

A fantastic place to stay. We booked a cosy break for two which included breakfast and a two course evening meal. Great value with delicious pub grub and an awesome breakfast! Lovely room with more than a glimpse of the sea. The staff were very welcoming and friendly with lots of knowledge about the local area. We did a circular walk from Mousehole to Lamorna Cove and a few miles beyond;  amazing views, seals galore and a few porpoise too. We last stayed at the Ship Inn in 2009 and would hope to stay again before 2037!

A fantastic place to stay!

We stayed in the family cabin, located in a cottage next door to the pub. It was comfortably furnished, with a separate bunk room and had lovely touches like the Elemis toiletries, 4 different types of tea, Nespresso machine and bath robes. Only small niggle was the shower head wouldn’t stay up so you had to hold it. The room was spotless and light and airy. The staff were very welcoming  and helpful. At breakfast we were sat next to a window overlooking the harbour, stunning view. The chef had called in sick so there were no cooked options on offer, but the buffet option was more than enough, with a good selection of cereals, granola and yoghurt, fruit, pastries and toast. Really enjoyed our stay and it was very good value.

Perfect stop over

We booked quite last min, everything about this place is just fantastic
Thanks for looking after us so well, great room, bed, bathroom bar, beer and even live music :) the location is perfect and are 2 carparks near by.

Everything was first rate and the staff so good, would recommend
