Myself and my partner decided to try and get away last minute in Cornwall, and stumbled across Camilla House online and booked instantly (we must have got a cancellation slot as we can’t seem to get booked back in!). We stayed 27-30th July. 
When we arrived at 3 where we were greeted by Fee, who was lovely, and asked and suggested some different things to do while we were staying there. We were then shown to our room, Poldhu, which was absolutely stunning and also had a beautiful view of the sea from the window. The inn is a small walk from town and also a short wander away from a little arcade which is always fun. 
Breakfast was deliciousr every morning, and we found ourselves eating a full english every day despite trying to convince ourselves we only needed a small breakfast. Something else I could have eaten my body weight in was the apple cake that Fee made and put in the room, which went perfectly with a tea at night. 

Something you need to bare in mind when staying here is the timings and requests Fee makes in terms of arrival times, breakfast times and letting her know what you would like for breakfast (there’s a little book in the room which explains this). Be appreciative of the effort that goes in to running and getting everything organised for you as a guest in terms of this, as there’s a few reviews complaining about coming down to breakfast at 9 and being rushed or being told they’ve missed breakfast or turning up late and no one being there to greet them, and this place is completely undeserving of it! Just be respectful that Fee is busy getting everything prepared for the day and following day as well as having a life!

Beautiful unexpected week away

Myself and my husband stayed here for three nights for our wedding anniversary and had a brilliant time. We absolutely loved Camilla House! We stayed in the Penberth room which was on the top floor and had a lovely sea view. The room was immaculate, beautifully decorated and a joy to stay in. Fee was an excellent host, she was extremely thoughtful - homemade cake was a lovely touch. She remembered what we toast we liked each morning, whether we had tea or coffee etc, and my husband loved the marmalade. As it was our wedding anniversary on our last day she left a jar of marmalade for him as a gift! The breakfasts were amazing, everything we tried was delicious especially the pancakes! The location is also great, close to everything and lots to do close by. Would totally recommend, thank you Fee for making our stay so enjoyable! Petra and Nick xx

Lovely stay in Penzance

We booked to stay in Penzance for a long weekend and camilla house certainly didn’t disappoint. From the moment we checked in & met the host Fee we were totally happy. Easy location to find and had plenty parking. We were in the top loft room with en suite and the standard was definitely 5*. We had the most perfect sea view and home made cakes most days left in our room!
As we were new to Penzance Fee recommended some restaurants for dinner and was extremely helpful & cheerful. Breakfast options are excellent as you are able to choose from a variety of options and made to order.
Location is perfect about 10 minutes into the town centre, 5 minutes to the beach & 5 minutes from the jubilee pool!
We would highly recommend this guest house and most certainly the host! Thank you for a great weekend 😊

Staycation 2021

If you are a menopausal woman and suffer from the occasional little "accidents" that we are prone to ladies. IF so, do not stay here or you will be accused of showering the bed with "golden rain" and asked to leave
It started well, then I inadvertently  left a towel on the armchair, for which I was chastised and apologised and it was down hill from there.
I like o swim in the sea and one day came in for a shower to was off the salt and was particularly sandy.  So to save the cleaners cleaning the sand from he shower tray using the towelling bath mat and my own beach towel.  I was again reprimanded for using the bath mat in curt little note on the bed the day after.  I text Fee to explain but she returned that there has always been a problem with cleaning our room but did not divulge what could be done to remedy this.  On he day after I received a call asking us to leave and at that point she did say at that she would reimburse for the 3 days of services that we had paid for but did not receive.  My husband and I managed to find alternative accommodation.  When we retuned to collet our belongings my husband asked for a reimbursement and was told none would be given as we had contravened her terms and conditions with our "unacceptable and unruly behavoiur.  Fee accused us not only or urinating on the bed - a few dribbles does not a shower make (?) - but also on her towels which were merely damp and had not been changed for a week!   I vehemently denied this and in anger called her indifferent which seemed to substantiate her accusation of our behaviour being "unruly and unacceptable">   What is unacceptable behaviour is being maliciously and slanderously accused of what we did not do giving Fee the to steal from us - because that is what this amounts to.  Ate best fraud and at worst THEFT.

Great for  the few?!!!

We had a very pleasant stay at Camilla house. Charming b&b. Lovely breakfast too! Excellent location and just a few minutes walk from the train station and to nearby attractions in Penzance Thank you Fee! Two-thumbs up!

Wonderful host and convenient location

I completely agree with the aforementioned review. Please do not book to stay here, the cancellation policy is inflexible, onerous and the owner completely in hospitable, who really should not be in hospitality. I booked to stay here in July and wanted to change the dates so I cancelled the booking a week later. Soon after a charge of half the cost around £200 was taken from my card. I emailed the owner who at first said something could be done but then after subsequent correspondence decided to say that the 60 cancellation policy applied contradicting the correspondence I had which I would like to mention was cancelled 58 days before therefore I have been penalised for two days and the owner has had 58 days to find alternative guests. I was not even given the option of staying on the original dates and therefore this is blatant theft of monies which I will be reporting to the appropriate authorities.

Do not stay here at all costs

We had a great stay here. Terrific room with sea view, tastefully furnished, smart and well maintained and v comfortable bed. This is more like a boutique hotel than guest house in terms of its decor, cleanliness, attention to detail, and quality of food. Breakfast was wonderful - between us we tried nearly everything on the menu, would recommend it all, and items that we ordered more than once were consistently good. The location is brilliant, a 20 min walk one way  along the seafront to Newlyn or just 5 mins into Penzance in the other direction. We had difficulty getting into recommended restaurants so suggest booking before you leave home....

Beautiful place in a great location, with excellent breakfast

Excellent stay at the Camilla House guest house.

The hotel is immaculate, with great attention to detail.  Excellent breakfast with a wide variety of choices.  On-site parking which is easily accessible.  We stayed in the Lamorna room which has a lovely large double bed.

Fee is extremely helpful and amenable.  Nothing is too much trouble.

We would definitely stay again if we are in the area again.

What can we say........look at how many reviews I have submitted.
People always say, and myself included  “the breakfast was great and the room was clean “.....but my goodness this was above and beyond.
The room area was the most  incredibly beautifully laid out area with ample room space and bathroom space , but the cleanliness was way ahead of anything we have stayed in before.
The breakfast was so tasty and fresh, the best we can remember over the past 20 years. Delicious.
Everyone says, “ the breakfast was delicious “ when they report a stay, but it never really means much.  This time it does as it was so luscious
Fee, our host, was so professional in everything she was involved in she is such an asset to her business,.
The house was so clean and the house staff were marvellous in retaining the cleanest environment we have ever stayed in.
A treat to find this place, a personal touch with her home made  cooking daily delivered to our room, such tasty cake, cookies and chocolate was a great addition to our residence.
All in all a very friendly, personable host, delicious brekkie which is way ahead of most, Covid safe, clinically clean, brilliantly situated and beautifully fitted out B and B......you must try it as I am sure you will enjoy it if you venture down there...simply wonderful place.

Comfortable and beautiful B and B.......

Nice b&b but an absolutely awful host. 

The worst thing about this property is it’s host - Fiona (Fee). She has a whole set of rules starting with 3pm - 6pm check in ( good luck if you hit traffic travelling from London), breakfast from 8am until 9am only - and you better be on time for your breakfast slot, and don’t stay in the breakfast room after 9am because this lady knows how to make you feel uncomfortable.. oh and if you have some more toast and you’d like some more jam to it, but it’s 8:59am FORGET IT. Fiona will give you the speech about “covid times” and how she can’t get it to you because it’s after breakfast service. Both me and my husband are healthcare workers and I still don’t know what covid has to to with bringing more jam... it’s not like I’ve asked her to make me some bread from scratch there and then. 
The rules are saying that if you don’t let her know what you’ll eat for breakfast before 8pm, or you’ll show up after 9am she will assume that you are not having the breakfast that you paid for. We were curious why there is a whole guide book on “the rules” in our room, so my husband decided to ask about these. Fiona became utterly rude and for some reason defensive and told us “this is how I run my business, if you don’t like it you can leave”, she said that to us twice and did not forget to add that the checkout is at 10am. Both my husband and I were extremely shocked, as we never experienced anything like this before. Fiona made us feel so unwelcome that we had no choice but to leave, with nowhere else reserved to stay. She turned what was meant to be a relaxing break to utterly horrible experience where you feel like a trespasser and a slave to your morning alarm clock. 
 
Our room was cold both during the day and during the night. Rule book was showing that the temperature is kept only at 16 degrees at night. To be fair there are blankets in the closet, but those won’t help you if you’re going to the bathroom. In addition the curtains are covering the radiator causing even less heat being released back to the room. You can always keep them open, but in that case you can wave to people walking past by, or visiting the cemetery that is located behind the property. 

There is a chance that you’ll run out of hot water during your shower. The boiler follows some more of Fionas rules and it works only during certain hours. So, you may have a nice semi hot shower, or a lukewarm/cold water (option 2 actually happened to my husband).

I do not recommend this place, and I would advise to avoid this rude woman at all cost.
