Ruth and Stephen are exceptional hosts, attentive, friendly and kind without being overbearing. There was always a roaring fire in the sitting room to sit in front of and relax. The breakfast is excellent and Ruth's cakes are amazing. Would definitely recommend.

What a little gem High Farm B &B is 😀  tea by the coal fire with cakes was a wonderful welcome , nothing is too much trouble and breakfast to die for an excellent selection and choice. Fully recommend High Farm for a quiet break

An excellent b&b run by a very friendly and helpful couple. Large very comfortable bedroom with all the facilities you need. A very god choice for breakfast and well cooked food. Ideal location for the North Yorkshire Moors including the Steam Railway based nearby in Pickering.

A wonderful place to relax for a couple of days and enjoy North Yorkshire, the hosts Ruth and Stephen were exceptional their breakfast was five star rooms were fantastic with lots of little extras to make your stay a real treat

Yorkshire luxury

We had a warm welcome on arrival to the lovely farmhouse in a very quiet location and beautiful gardens. A very comfortable room overlooking the gardens with ensuite. Delicious breakfast and nothing too much trouble to make our stay most enjoyable. We will certainly return in the future to take more advantage of the footpaths leading to the moors just almost outside the door.

Wonderful welcome, friendly hosts and superb tea/coffee/cakes on arrival.  Very quiet en-suite room, tea/herbal tea/coffee/fruit and biscuits provided in the room, lovely location and great views.  Breakfast is the best - literally.  Choice of starters, fruit juices and cooked breakfast, all with the best ingredients, locally sourced where possible.  Cooked to a high standard and beautifully presented.  We had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on the first day, full English on the second, and every mouthful was excellent.

The hosts (Ruth and Stephen) are charming, friendly and interested in your plans, and will offer advice on the local attractions.

Home from home

I booked this lovely deer lodge for me and my wife to stay in after our wedding day. Everyone was very accomodating with a few extra ordinary requests. Lodge is very quirky and romantic. Cooked breakfast at the tea rooms was very good also. Would highly recommend

We had a wonderful Easter break at this fantastic bed and breakfast. Our hosts, Ruth and Steve made us so welcome.  The accommodation was spotless and very comfortable.  The breakfast, with an extensive menu, was superb.  We were welcomed with tea and homemade cakes, which was a lovely surprise and very much appreciated after our journey. Ruth and Steve are very friendly, without being intrusive.  The gardens were beautiful and the whole weekend was so relaxing.  Can’t wait to go back again!

Wonderful bed and breakfast

My wife & I have recently returned from a three night winter stay at High Farm B&B run by the charming Ruth & Stephen.  It was a pleasure to receive good old British hospitality at its very best and a privilege to be part of their household.  A warm welcome followed our arrival, accompanied by a tray of cakes & hot cross buns and a pot of freshly brewed tea. As we indulged, in front of a real & roaring log & coal fire in the guest's lounge, Ruth engaged in a friendly chat with us and ensured we knew all we needed to know.  If we had so desired the tray would have been repeated on the following two days. Our room, complete with a well-stocked welcome tray, and bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable. From one window we had a view towards the nearby North York Moors National Park and from the other a view over the stone village of Cropton.  Our breakfasts were breakfasts to die for and Ruth & Stephen offered us our choice from an extensive menu including full English and a variety of other traditional breakfast items. We were able to choose the timing of the delivery of the various items to our liking which contributed to a very relaxing time. Straying from our usual breakfast menu because we were on a break we enjoyed full English breakfasts.  They were absolutely delicious, cooked largely by Stephen we believe, served on hot plates and incorporating thick rashers of bacon, meaty sausages and fluffy scrambled eggs or poached eggs where the yolks were as orange as a Jaffa orange. It was a joy to chat to Ruth, in the environment of a family home where there was extensive memorabilia from years gone by. Ruth had got the level of engagement just right, enough to be attentive but not overly fussy to make us feel uncomfortable.  It you like cats then there are four well-behaved ones to enjoy, if not then they will be kept well away. Being winter there was not much so see in the extensive garden, apart from several clumps of daffodils, some blooms of which Ruth was observed to freshly pick for the breakfast table. However, as the year unfolds the garden is sure to become a colourful & relaxing haven to be enjoyed during fine weather. So, bring your slippers, it would almost seem rude not to given the homeliness of this countryside gem, and enjoy the complete hospitality offered by a likeable & genuine couple.  Do visit the village pub, just a few minutes walk away through the village, for a friendly welcome and some tasty food & self-brewed drinks.
