no kettle, owner knew there was no kettle but
didn't try and replace the one that she took out, so
couldn't get a hot drink when we wanted to, she did
give us a flask (only enough water for two cups) on
the 2nd day the coffee and milk was filled back up
but no kettle again.
bathroom! sink plug hole needs a good clean! and
the shower plug hole was full of hair and gunge, this
hadn't been cleaned for a while!
first rule always clean the plug holes,
we felt as if we had to be quiet all the time as we
could hear the family downstairs and the dog was
barking most of the night on the first night. breakfast
was good but not a massive amount to choose from
from the cooked menu. we had to sit at the same
table as the other guests which we didn't really want
to do. no water or biscuits, little touches go a long
way. please get a kettle for the room! there are
hardware stores in the town that could have easily
picked one up. 
so after I left an honest truthful review I had a
phone call from the owner Mairi Mansell, she
basically said that I was a lier until I told her I had
video evidence of how dirty the plug holes were,
she was very rude to me and spoke down to me
she said I was cold on arrival, we both said hi
how are you, don't know what else I was
expected to say???
she said the reason she didn't replace the kettle
was because she was selling the property, well
am glad as she has zero people skills and was
very snotty!
I pity anyone who come into contact with this
awful woman in the future!
I could have left a worse review! if this is what
her public areas of her house is like I'd hate to
see the private areas!
she said remember you are staying in my home
to which I replied remember I and PAYING to
stay!
I really didn't think a host was allowed to phone
up guests after reviews had been left
she asked why I didn't say anything at the time
but I felt as if it would make it awkward for us to
stay there, and truth be known we were scared
incase she put us out! as she wasn't the most
friendly towards us!

Stay away

Just back from a 2 night stay here. Our room was lovely, clean and very well presented. En suite bathroom was also immaculate.
The view from our room was spectacular.
We were made very welcome by the owner who couldn’t do enough for us.
Our breakfast had a good choice and was cooked to perfection.
Would recommend this bed and breakfast as a 5 star!

Fantastic bed and breakfast

Beautiful Victorian house and garden, very tastefully decorated. The place is spotless. Large bedroom with very comfortable bed. Small TV but not really a priority for us. Large bathroom, very large in fact, with a really good shower at the end of the bath. Fantastic location with the centre of town an easy 5-minute walk away, Breakfast excellent. And the owner Mairi is so nice. We would love to come back here one day...

Perfect. One of the nicest places we have ever stayed at.

In 2018 we had a great stay at Ellangowan so when our son and his girlfriend relocated to Glasgow and we were visiting from the U.S. we booked 2 rooms for 1st - 3rd October 21. Unfortunately on 30th September my husband tested positive for Covid so we had to cancel at the last minute. Mairi, understandably, could not give us a refund but agreed to a credit for one room which we booked for 19th and 20th November.
Our son tried calling the previous week there was no reply and no message. They arrived as planned on 19th to find the place locked up and no one around. Again we tried to call, unsuccessfully, and a subsequent email is still unanswered.
We are all so disappointed, if circumstances had changed surely a phone call or email cancelling the booking was not too much to expect.  Fortunately they were able to get a late train back to Glasgow so they weren’t left stranded

So disappointing

We enjoyed a lovely three night stay at Ellangowan; our room was very spacious, comfortable, well appointed and with beautiful views towards the south west. Breakfast was a choice of cereals, fresh fruit and yogurts, followed by a choice of three cooked dishes, one being the traditional breakfast fry up, which we really enjoyed. Slightly surprised there was no fruit juice on offer, but this was only a minor issue.

Lovely stay at Ellangowan

Two night stay in November at Ellangowan in Pitlochry. 
Mairi  a perfect host , the guest house is spotless clean , we had a large bedroom overlooking the garden and the breakfast we couldn’t fault .
Highly recommend the Ellangowan guest  house and will definitely book again the next time in Pitlochry.

We stayed here for 3 nights in August. Mairi greeted us at the door with a very warm welcome. We had a lovely big room with a beautiful view over the garden and hills The room was immaculate and had everything we needed. It was very quiet and we had a lovely breakfast every morning . Thank you Mairi for making our stay so nice.

Wedding Anniversary

Absolutely wonderful accommodation beautiful house fantastic location and warm and hospitable host! 

We booked this accommodation for my birthday weekend and could not have chosen anything better. I've not been well lately and was looking for some relaxation and comfort and from the the f have it she ensured I was offered a vegetarian breakfast.

The room was spotless spacious elegant and had everything we could have needed. There was even hot water bottles! Amazing for me and I made use of these after an active day exploring beautiful Pitlochry.

Mairi was wonderful the house was stunning the room was beautiful and the location was perfect. This is a five star accommodation and we will absolutely be returning 😍

Birthday weekend 

This B & B is a must for anyone wanting to stay in Pitlochry!! The house is beautiful with lovely views and quiet garden area , and the owner, mairi, is so welcoming, anything she can do to help you. The room was immaculate, cleaned everyday and the breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked with plenty to choose from. As there are limited rooms, best book well in advance to ensure you get a room.It is well located, and was ideal for us as we were there for the Highland Games.

We stayed here for three nights in July 2019. Mairi greeted us at the door and gave us a friendly welcome. Our room was amazing, the bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was spacious. The breakfasts in the morning were hearty and wonderful. The overall location was great for us, as we spent one full day in and around Pitlochry and another full day off on adventures up near Inverness. Can't recommend the Ellangowan House highly enough. Thank you, Mairi!
