We are ex-locals and needed somewhere to stay with the dog and two teenagers, near Plymouth, to attend the university opened day.
Churchwood couldn’t have been a better option for us, cosy, warm, clean cabin, 5 minute walk to Wembury beach, and 15 min drive into Plymouth. 
We took it in turns to visit the uni with the eldest / take the dog and youngest to the beach!. It worked perfectly for us.
We ate twice at the Old Mill Cafe at the beach, and picked up fish & chips from nearby Plymstock, again a short drive away. Yes the local roads are narrow and often single track, but it’s rural Devon, just slow down a bit! We already knew how to find the cabins from Wembury village, but the directions via Staddiscombe were easy to follow and Churchwood was well signposted.
We absolutely loved the peacefulness of the cabins, we could hear owls and the sea at night, we had such a lovely weekend, we’re hoping to book again! 

Family weekend with dog

The compact cabin was at the back in the mature trees. It was very peaceful and relaxing. It was almost like floating in the air. The cabin was very clean and functional. If you want a beautiful quiet valley a ten min walks from a stunning beach then this is the place. We loved it. Even the greedy squirrel that ate all the bird food.

Just returned from a short solo trip to Churchwood Valley. 
Having visited in the past a teenager and again in 2021 with my wife I knew what to expect upon arrival. A clean, tidy cabin with all you would need to a short break away. I booked a small cabin and was delighted to have been given one that was tucked out the way in an older part of the site. 

Absolute bliss to be away from it all for a few days in a lovely setting. Really couldn't have asked or wanted for more and I had a very enjoyable stay. 
Planning on coming back in 2024 with my wife and two pups for which we will be looking at booking a larger lodge. Have recommended Churchwood Valley to some of our friends who we know would appreciate the site, its location and surroundings and the general ambiance that only Churchwood Valley can provide.  A holiday like it should be......time to switch off and recharge.

Just the most amazing place. Unspoilt. Spotless cabins. 5 to 10 min walk from the beach. Surrounded by beautiful countryside / nature. Great price. My daughter and I had a wonderful holiday and very sad to be leaving. This is our fourth stay here. 

Wonderful place to stay / 4th visit 

Nice relaxing stay for 2nd time at Churchwood. Is lovely waking up to see trees and flowers from the window like being in a forest. Birds and squirrels are regular visitors so seeds left out every day. Cabin was good apart from the shower which was a cubicle and hardly big enough for anyone to take a shower in. Staff were helpful whenever needed bringing another T.V. when the d.v.d.  Wasn’t working and calling a taxi when unable to get a phone signal. Hired a barbecue from Churchwood so was able to cook outside.  All in all was a peaceful stay with lovely walks even though the weather could have been better.

Nice relaxing stay

Perfect English countryside location for a family visiting from Aus. The cabins are well equiped ( bring toilet roll, towels
and soap) . Comfy beds and enough sofa space for everybody to have a good spot. Lovely stroll to the beach and close to the South West Coastal path which was on my bucket list. 10/10 would return!

Peaceful English countryside retreat. Bring wellies or walking shoes.

We stayed at Churchwood Valley for a week over the summer. We had two children and a dog with us. Our cabin was nice an spacious and the holiday park itself was well kept and quiet. 
It is close enough to a lot of Devon's visitors attractions but at the same time it is far enough away that you aren't constantly surrounded by the hustle and bustle.
The staff in the office were lovely and happy to give tips on where to go. The little shop was good and had all the essentials you might need. 
It is an easy walk down to Wembury beach which is a beautiful beach and it's great to go in the evening and watch the sun go down. Wembury beach never seemed overly busy either. There is a cafe, a little visitors centre, toilets and an ice cream hut down at the beach. 
It is also within walking distance of the costal path and we spent 2 days walking, one in each direction.
I would highly recommend Churchwood Valley and I hope to return one day.

Great holiday!

We booked these as we were visiting our daughter at uni.  We didn't look in too much detail. It is like going back in time in a really good way- quiet, great service, cabins have total rustic charm. No traffic, just the birds and the other wildlife ( our dog liked the squirrels a bit too much!,). Great beach. We will definitely go back

A tiny little gem tucked away near plymouth

This place is superb, I came down to visit my daughter at uni who is sleep deprived due to all the noise, hustle and bustle of living in the halls. Churchwood Valley cabins were paradise to us, clean, comfortable had everything we needed. So relaxing there, no noise just wildlife and complete privacy. Staff so friendly and kind. Thank you so much for our upgrade it was a lovely surprise. We didn’t want to leave, will be stopping here every time I come down now, we both feel recharged….

Superb place to stay….

We love Churchwood! Having holidayed here in the 2000s with my parents, my husband and I now return every year (sometimes twice!) with our family. 

There is nothing negative to say about the place....it's beautiful, comfortable, full of nature with very friendly and helpful staff on site. Wembury beach is equally as beautiful and we love our walks to the beach through the meadow, stopping by the "troll bridge" to soak each other in the stream!

Every time we return to Churchwood we fall in love with it that little bit more and return home with many, many happy memories. I can't see there ever being a year we don't return and hopefully one day we will be able to afford to buy or own cabin 🤞
