Took my sister here for food last night and we had a wonderful time. We were offered to sit i the bar as there were to large parties in the restaurant area which i thought was very considerate. But we opted for the restaurant as the atmosphere was great. I had a Christmas dinner which was lovely and came with so much veg.  I had the prawn starter which was also lovely.  My sister had the fish and chips (real chips) and she said it was amazing. Huge portion as well. The staff were fantastic, rushed off their feet but wearing big smiles and so friendly. Very observant clearing plates quickly and offering you refills on drinks often.  

Between us we had 4 drinks, 2 huge mains and 1 starter which came to around £35. Bargain. 

Look forward to visiting again 😊

Lovely food and staff

I’m a regular here now for midweek business stay overs - friendly welcome, great dinner and breakfast, spacious rooms, nice setting. Best place I’ve found around Swansea and the rates are great. If the parking is busy there’s a free car park a short walk away.

Regular customer, well recommended

Im not sure when anyone else stayed. But i really cant find anything positive to say. Apart from a refund was provided quickly. And staff were friendly.

The car park is full of broken solar lights, vegetable oil containers and not very clean. 
The inside looked dirty as if the carpets had never been cleaned. The room was nothing like the pictures or reviews.

I really cant remember anywhere ive ever stayed being this bad. I would recommend avoid. 

Oh its on the corner of a crazy busy crossing. In my short visit, i could hear the crossing beeping, all the road noise from a busy road and the 'river' isnt picturesq 

I wish id taken pictures to show how bad it was but i just wanted to leave.

Had absolutely beautiful food here and very welcoming atmosphere by all the staff. Would highly recommend anyone living around the Swansea area or anywhere really to pop in . We will be visiting more often when we can. Menu was absolutely fantastic

Food and drinks

We had a fantastic one night stay here. The staff are fantastic, and the homemade food was brilliant. Great ale and the breakfast was cooked to perfection. 
We will definitely be returning when we are back in the area. 
Here’s hoping with a Wales rugby player!!

Great place!!

Fabulous fresh cooked food, very friendly and helpful staff. Small town local with access to regular bus service into city, allow 1 hour approx travel time to and from Seansea on X6.Free parking and WiFi available 
Great out door music festival on in all pubs the weekend I visited

Basic bit very low price

Not quite what we expected, everything in the hotel is "dated".  Have seen bigger flat screen tvs in a toilet!!!  There was absolutely not social distancing at all.  The noise from the tv in the next bedroom was on for most of the night, and you could quite clearly hear the occupants.

Excellent food

I can't really fault the Dillwyn arms, I stayed here with my better half while visiting family. The staff were really welcoming, you get asked when you check in what you'd like for breakfast (go for the full english it's huge!) we were in room 1 and the bed has a memory foam mattress, we both slept amazingly well the two nights we stayed. there were singers in the bar the nights we stayed but we couldn't really hear them from our room.
the pub is nicely situated near shops and bus services.
we ate with them both nights we were there. my other half highly recommends the garlic mushroom starter he had it both nights!!! all the food we had was well cooked, plentiful and delicious. we'd definitely stay again!

fantastic place

Booked a nights stay mainly based on restaurant reviews and had left it last minute so few options. Arrived to be met by friendly host, room was ok, clean and comfortable but immediately let down when told restaurant was closed, bar downstairs full of locals and noisy, limited drinks offer. Went out for a meal return at 22.30 to an unbearable noise from a singer, fortunately ceased at 23.09 thank good it really was awful and way too loud for the size of the bar. Breakfast limited but was well cooked and again lovely friendly staff, we left, will we go back? unlikely but it may well work for other guests.

Good and Bad

Good VFM for 1 night only and very enjoyable.  Nice hearty breakfast but sausages were not very good. Would revisit if back in the area. Comfy bed and nice clean room shower temperamental but ok. Central in Pontydawe
