Absolutely amazing stay and the staff were lovely, the food is always lovely and hot, atmosphere is fabulous. The duty manager Carly is a credit to the company as always when I've been here in the past

Amazing 

I stayed at the shah of Persia for a night and the experience was terrible the mattress was too firm the room was small the bathroom was spacious but couldn’t sleep due to the mattress being too firm the price was reasonable overall I wouldn’t stay in room 3 again

Hard mattress

Stayed for one night on a fantastic deal. Nice welcome, cosy room with a very comfortable bed and very efficient shower. Large carpark  and very good bus link into town. Our room at the front overlooked the crossroads but we never heard a thing. We will definately return to the Shah of Persia though we doubt we'll get such a good deal again.

Excellent stay.

Was recommended this venue by a friend for family visiting, they loved the accommodation and will definitely use it again when they next return. The staff were friendly and attentive and were more than happy to help with the bags. Couldn't ask for any more. If you want a place to stay in Poole, this is it.

Best in Poole 

Excellent room with full facilities and very clean and well kept. Service from all the staff was superb went above and beyond when I arrived to book in.  Told me of the facilities and timings for breakfast next morning.  We will definitely return !!!

medium sized carpark all around the pub, check in at the bar ,all info given, 
The rooms are on the 1st floor up some steep stairs. 
The room(9) was ok  size for a single bed and just enough room in the shower room.
WiFi ok ,good evening meal your typical pub grub at excellent value and portion size and you  get 20%off being a guest at the hotel ! 
Shower was ok ,bed comfortable enough to have a good night sleep. 
Lots of walks and runs routes close by ! 
Only thing that picked up on is the room is under the kitchen extraction fan so you feel the hum and vibration from it until the kitchen closes at 9pm it starts at 07:30 ! It did give me a slight headache unfortunately. 
Would I stay again and recommend YES but would want to try a different room next time ! 

A good hotel 

Half of the breakfast menu it's not available, they don't do table service anymore so we were sat waiting at the table (someone should inform you as soon as you get in the restaurant) poor service from staff .Really disappointed as i use to love coming for breakfast here

Poor breakfast 

The staff were very friendly and professional. The room we stayed in was a good sized twin room. It was clean and comfortable. The beds were comfy.
The food was a good standard.
All in all, for the price you pay it represents very good value for your money for both the rooms and the food. 


Good Value for Money

The pub is nice with great food but we like a good quiz night which is now sadly ruined by a well known local group that have been banned for cheating at multiple local venues so I've been informed by other quizzers there. They are sadly now at The The Shah of persia and clearly cheating.  Three ladies and a staffie dog by the name of Victorious Secrets.  If you refuse to deal with this in the same manneras other venues have with these ladies, I will not be returning with my team.   Why does it take other quiz teams to spot it but the host seems oblivious?

Quiz cheaters are ruining it!!

My wife and i stayed for 3 nights (13-16 sept 2022),upon arrival we were checked in by a charming young lady who helped us carry our luggage up the stairs to room 7(all rooms are on the first floor which is not ideal for people with mobility problems).
The room was basic but very clean with Hypnos mattresses which made for a good night's sleep.
Breakfast was very good as was our waitress Micah.The evening meal was good 'pub grub' and with the 20% discount for residents was a bonus.Our waitress (the same young lady that checked us in and helped with our luggage)
 was first class with a wealth of local knowledge pointing out the bus stops! which enabled us to visit Poole and Bournemouth.
Overall all the staff were very pleasant,a very enjoyable stay.The young lady who looked after us we found out had quite an unusual name - Keats!
Thus the review title which we thought very apt.
