Five star service from Mark and Howard after our stay this weekend at Plas Tan-Yr-Alt.  When we departed on Sunday morning I left an IPad in our room - (Madocks, excellent with wonderful views and supremely comfy four poster) and despite our hosts’ timely efforts to notify us it was too late for us to return to collect it.  Howard very kindly packaged it up for the courier and I received it 48 hours after we left.  
Mark and Howard, thank you again. We really enjoyed our visit.

Wonderful stay, great hosts.

We wanted a few nights away to explore Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula and a web search led us to Plan Tan Yr Allt, we were not disappointed.  Location is perfect for exploring North Wales. The house has been beautifully updated and the rooms are well equipped and very comfortable while being respectful to the history of the property. Breakfast was delicious. Mark and Howard are excellent hosts.

A short break in Snowdonia

The most delightful place to stay. We had a fabulous few days at this beautiful house. Mark was a most welcoming host. Our room was very comfortable. The view was superb. Breakfast could not be faulted. It was within easy reach of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways which should not be missed. But most of all, Mark and Howard’s attention to detail made everything extra special.

A glorious few days stay

What a lovely break! 
We were welcomed warmly by Mark who was most friendly and helpful all weekend.

We walked Snowdon and visited Portmeirion whilst there - both easily reached from the house.

It’s a beautiful house, the room was large,  well equipped and comfortable - with chairs to sit and enjoy the view as well as a super comfy bed.  We stayed in Moss Hilda’s room - the view was to die for ( from both the bedroom and lovely bathroom ).

Lovely touches to the room - coffee machine, wine glasses, history of the house to name a few.

Breakfast was preordered on a tablet in the bedroom and was plentiful and cooked fresh. Plenty of options to choose from.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will definitely come back.

Fantastic break

Another great stay at this historic country hotel. The owners are helpful, make you feel very welcome and are knowledgably.  Room as always was clean and well appointed. Able to relax and enjoy the area. Breakfast is great and cooked to order. Will be going back

Great expereince

Very nice welcome by Mark a great host told us a lot about this great house. Lovely comfy four poster bed with nice views over the gardens and sea view and the cob. Nice breakfast largest I have had and well prepared. Will stay again and highly recommend!

Great stay

There's an understated elegance about 'The Plas'.

It welcomes you in to a warm embrace, just like this enchanting Regency villa has to the great and good for the past centuries.

Mark and Howard are careful guardians of The Plas's past, ensuring the standards you'd expect of a five-star country manor stay are surpassed, both in service and decor.

Our room, The William Maddocks, enjoyed views over The Cob ... with the promise of Harlech Castle in the distance, although the weather offered us little more than a hazy shade of winter.  The four-poster was more than comfy; the leather chairs to enjoy the view of the garden were welcome after a day's sightseeing and the warm ginger of the eco-toiletries made a very welcome change from your standard hotel fare, however, high the star rating.

Each morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast watching the rain come down over The Cob and the grey clouds scuttle across the skies. My husband's Eggs Benedict, porridge and full Welsh over the stay did not disappoint. Over the years, he's become a true connoisseur of his favourite Eggs Benedict and pronounced these some of the best he'd tasted, surpassing many he'd tasted in top hotels across the country.

Mark was a most gracious host, remembering our breakfast preferences and treating us like old friends coming for a visit. His knowledge and tips on where to eat and what to do on a rainy day were most welcome.

On our final day, we enjoyed afternoon tea in the drawing room, a haven of leather chesterfields, muted colours and books telling the history of this charming house and its history.

Who couldn't be drawn in by the tale of Shelley seeing off an intruder in the middle of the night ... and viewing the ancient pistol which had been discovered under a rhododenron busy years later! 

This is truly a house with a story. We've written our first chapter here and can't wait to return.

A house with a story to enjoy

Well once again Mark and Howard at the “Plas” outdone themselves with our birthday stay there. Shelly’s Theatre was a superb room, you actually felt that Shelly was there when staying in it. Mark and Howard as usual were the most gracious hosts and the “Plas” just goes up more and more in our estimation every time we stay there, if we could give it 10 stars we would. We look forward to our next stay there in 2024.

Another fantastic stay at the “Plas”

Such a beautiful house in a wonderful location. Great hosts - nothing was too much trouble for them and we were made to feel very welcome. 

We tried several breakfasts during our stay, all were delicious, beautifully presented and the view from the dining room was stunning. 

Our room was spotless and full of character, period charm and a beautiful view over looking part of the garden. 

Lots of places close by to visit so we will definitely be returning to Plas Tan Yr Allt to explore the area further. 

A beautiful period country house in an idillic location

An absolute gem in the most picturesque setting. A warm welcome on arrival
Set the tone for our stay, the attention to detail sets this place aside from any we’ve stayed at before. Our room had the most comfortable four poster bed and was furnished with such good taste. Everything was exceptional including the breakfast. Mark and Howard have really captured  the true meaning of hospitality.
