My friend and i came to riverside barn for a stay back in July after it was recommended to us by another friend. We came to get some well needed respite and that is exactly what we got. When arriving we were met by Jake. He was very friendly and showed us to our room. We were both visiting this area for the first time and we wasn’t really sure where the best places to go were locally but Jake was very helpful giving us his personal recommendations of places that were nice to eat and where to find the best walking trails. We were most greatful and took his advice.

The room we stayed in was the Ribble Suite. It was such a beautiful room with a huge bed with some stunning bedding that was well made and very comfortable. The sitting area to the left of the bed was nice and cozy and perfect to just relax and watch some tv. To the right of the bed there was another sofa area and a big coffee table where we enjoyed a cup of tea and a few sneaky glassses of wine. It was pure heaven, such a quiet environment surrounded by nature. We quite enjoyed the fact the room was self serve. We helped ourselves to quite a few cups of tea and hot chocolate which also brings me to our breakfast hamper. For £15 we couldn’t complain. There was a good selection of pastries and everything tasted fresh. The mini oven provided was very clean and simple to use.

There were patio doors in the room which lead out to the decking. Although we didn’t sit out with the weather deciding to pour it down you could see from the windows a well kept garden and in the distance the river and greenery. 

The cleanliness of the room was exceptional. To say this is a property in the country i couldn’t see a single spider or web in that room or the bathroom. The bathroom although small was clearly freshly cleaned for our arrival and it was the perfect size for us. It consisted of a shower, a toilet and two sinks
 with fresh towels and a dressing gown for each of us.

We did make a request to Jake to give us a few extra pillows and he was more than happy to fulfil our needs. We didn’t feel awkward for asking and he assured us if we needed anything at all just to let him know.

We came to riverside barn to get some peace and quiet and that is exactly what we got. Thank you for being all you are advertised to be. We were not disapointed with our stay. Hopefully we will be back
to see you very soon.

Perfect stay for some peace and quiet.

I can't even list all the things that were wrong at the Riverside Barn. There was no one available to ask any questions, even to get our heat in the room turned on (it was off when we arrived on a very cold day). We checked ourselves in & found a notice in the room saying we could call or email to get help. I got no response calling or emailing though I did multiple times. Though the place was a bed & breakfast it was impossible to get breakfast. The "luxury breakfast hamper" was four balls of raw dough that were delivered at 10:40 at night (I was already in bed) that apprently were supposed to be baked in an 8" toaster oven. I'm not sure b/c there were no instructions, but they wouldn't have fit anyway. Coffee was on the breakfast list but was not delivered--the room had instant Sanka, that was it. Extra sheets were visibly stained. We could not find the blanket because, again, no one answered any requests for help.

I wrote a message to the owners when I left listing the problems we had, & got a note back saying the owner was "on holiday" but would respond. It's been almost a month & no response to that either. It felt like the owners wanted the place to run by itself, but of course, it couldn't. I was so disappointed. I would avoid this place or at least, make sure someone will be there when you stay there.

Awful experience

The accommodation is very nice and the riverside location is very picturesque - only drawback was the smell from the farm/cattle feed plant next door. The town itself is small but nice - check out the food in the White Bull too.

Nice self contained accommodation

This was our second visit as we had loved staying a few years ago    the room was lovely with everything you needed    the room was advertised as having a decking area with patio furniture    there was furniture but it was very dirty and there were no cushions abd the outside area was very messy and dirty    it would have only taken an hour to rectify this   it was not inviting at all to try and sit outside    the pictures of the front of the property were lovely with pots and baskets filled with beautiful flowers      in reality these were filled with weeds and very messy     again looked a mess and not a good first impression    ..  i know these are cosmetic issues    but very different from our first trip and from how it is advertised    ...  i still give it an 8 out of ten

Messy

I stayed at riverside barn mid march this year and wow what can i say!? It was amazing!! We booked via wowcher and got such a good deal. Firstly, upon arriving we were greeted by a lovely young man called Jake. He was super bubbly and friendly; he really made us feel welcome. He politley showed us to our room and told us about the local area. He recommended different places we could visit whilst staying and told us about a lovely local pub where we could get some lunch and have a few drinks.  When we got to the room (the ribble suite) we were very surprised by how beautiful it was inside. It had a huge 4 poster bed and a TV. We had a lovely bowl of fresh fruit and plenty of tea/coffee to keep us going! The room was exceptionally clean, not a speck of dust in sight! The bed was beautifully made and i haven’t had a better nights sleep in a long time! It was so comfy and peaceful! We had ordered a breakfast hamper and afternoon tea during our stay and again we were not disappointed. Jake was telling us how everything was locally sourced , this really did show. 
Whilst sitting out on the decking overlooking the river my husband and I couldn’t help but admire the beautiful view! Riverside barn is a hidden treasure! I didn’t get the pleasure of meeting the owners but we would like to say a huge thank you to Jake for making our stay very comfortable and relaxing! Keep up the good work!
My husband and i could not be happier with our stay and we will defiantly be returning again very soon!! If you are looking for a nice relaxing break riverside barn is the place you want to be!

Could not be happier with this hidden treasure!

We stayed for one night as a last minute break and had a lovely time. The room is lovely with everything you’d need including fresh fruit and milk, Sky tv and a lovely comfortable bed. It was self check in but we were checked on by the owner as soon as we arrived. The village is picturesque with a few places to eat & drink. We chose the White Bull, less than 5 minutes walk away and it was wonderful.

Lovely accommodation

Booked an overnight stay so we can attend a friends 50th. We were accommodated in the Ribble Suite. We received a call the day before from Jake with all the details of how to access the accommodation and would we like a breakfast hamper. 
We found it easily enough, thankfully the sat nav was on point this time. 
The Ribble Suite is cosy and with a huge four poster bed. The bathroom is big and has a heated floor and a very good shower. The bed is very comfortable and we had a good night sleep. The sandwiches and scones were most welcome and all the other little touches were most welcome. Kyle also left his mobile in case we needed anything. Great personal service. 
Recommend a stay at the Riverside Barn and we hope to be back soon.

Hidden Gem

We truly enjoyed our stay at riverside Barn, due to covid 19 we didnt get to meet the owners as they are operating a self check in but we did speak to a man before our stay who was very friendly and informative. 
 When we arrived we was delighted to discover scones and sandwiches waiting in our room for us along with fresh fruit and milk. 
 The room was well appointed and clean. 
 We got lucky as the weather was glorious during our stay. The barn is next to the river so my partner and I had a lovely walk around the area and sat by the river to have some lunch. It's very picturesque. 
 It was a very enjoyable stay and we will be back for longer next time. Thanks very much

Weekend get away

Firstly the positives: brilliant location, the river is a two minute walk away, village has a few pubs, a cafe and a shop. Complimentary sandwiches and fresh milk were appreciated. Unfortunately the room we stayed in needs a really deep clean, and many things need fixing. The fan was broken and the windows have been sealed shut so it was far too hot to sleep in. Bathroom lights flicker constantly, and one of the spot lights was hanging out of its casing. I’d enquired about the breakfast hamper before arriving but this wasn’t mentioned so I presume it’s not on offer anymore. I get the impression this was once a fantastic place to stay but the rooms and equipment really need upgrading to justify £100+ a night. It’s not five star.

Great location but rooms need attention

After booking this in Sept last year, full payment was taken straight away. Unfortunately over a month before the date, I hot I'll and notified them of my problem making several attempts to reach the owner.

They took my money, have not returned my payment and deliberately ignored my attempts to let them know of my ill health preventing me from attending.

Please do not stay here, find somewhere else.  The lady owner treats people like rubbish and values £110 more than a customer. Appalling! Please avoid!
