We've eaten here a few times now and it is truly phenomenal! The food is fantastic and the views incredible. Sylwia and the team really couldn't do enough for us and they made our dinner (16 of us!) really special. I can't wait until our next trip over.

Fantastic food, views, and service!

Lacks the fine detail of a £190 per night stay
Room on first glance was large bright and airy but soon saw windows were dripping in water puddling onto the sills and walls
Very dusty on the floors top of the bed posts and under the rug hadn’t been wiped in a while
Bed was not comfortable at all 
Shower leaked , door was off it’s runner  the force of the water was poor and the shower tray was dirty
Lino in the bathroom was buckling and lumpy 
The room had a desk top mini fridge which buzzed and  clacked all night with a bright white light 
No charging points for toothbrushes 
Food in restaurant was lovely however at breakfast even though we were first in some of the full English elements were stone cold
We were seated for lunch and evening meal by the fire in the back room but it was very very noisy and would have preferred the choice of the terrace room where the breakfast is served but was not offered 
Can’t fault the service of the staff in the restaurant they work very hard just a bit of a disappointment in the details for the price

Friendly bar staff. Professional waiter, polite, happy. Drinks ok. Chips ok. Shame about the waitress who had a mouthful of food when she brought out our chips...was it our dirty fries she had been eating???
She had a mouth full a few times, as she came out delivering food. Off putting 😒

We had 2 nights at the Prince Rupert room, beautiful view, very quiet (bar the little fridge at night). We enjoyed the food at the restaurant and would definitely recommend it with a visit to Upton house just round the corner. We went to Caffeine and machine too, fab couple of days!

Gorgeous sunset

Many years ago I lived in the neighbouring village and would often visit The Castle for afternoon tea and promised myself that one day I would treat myself in staying over night, what better excuse but for my birthday. 

Crikey, I was so disappointed, the decor was poor and shabby, and would not have said terrible clean either. No spare blankets to hand and despite being able to turn the heating up should have liked the option and the shower was nothing but a trickle. I have certainly stayed in much nicer places and for less but rather feel that one is paying for the views, which are spectacular, the only plus!

Personally I would not stay here again nor recommend it to anyone, for the stunning views can be seen from the garden or indeed the restaurant if you are lucky to get a table by the window.

Birthday disappointment

We booked a room at this Hotel through Hotels.com, advising that we would be bringing a dog. They messaged through Hotels.com offering two other rooms because of our dog and advised us to book the Restaurant.
We replied to this with our room selection and the time for a reservation. After 4 days we hadn't had a response so we advised again. Two days latter without any acknowledgement we advised that if we didn't get a response with 24 hours we would cancel and leave a review.
It was only after we complained to Hotels.com after cancelling, and they had spoken with them, did we get a response.

We booked the 5 rooms at the Castle at Edge Hill from Thursday to Sunday. On arrival were greeted by Sylvia and her beaming smile, This young lady does not say no & will do all what she can to please her guests, She offered exceptional service throughout.  The rooms were clean, fridges stocked well, sheets and towels spotless. The cooked breakfast was anything you like, cooked fresh & excellent. On the Friday night we were joined by some 40+ guests for dinner and drinks and all were served on time and the food was good. Daz heading the bar was very helpful and very attentive. However, The Castle as you expect is an old building but rooms have been modernised with no wardrobes but ample hooks on doors and walls are provided. Beds were comfortable and we were lucky the weather was perfect. We have 2 granddaughters (3&5) and they loved it. The views are stunning. Highly recommended.

Simply Wonderful

We were staying locally and stopped for lunch in the garden.The food was excellent and the service was really good.The view across miles of beautiful country side is fantastic.I would highly recommend this place and would definitely return

Quirky and ancient and a delight!  I have stayed twice and eaten once and each experience was superb.

The food at the restaurant was excellent and great service.

I have stayed in the lower ground room in the tower and wow, what a delight.  It is small but for a single person it is just fine!  A continental breakfast is in the room and that it enough, especially if you have had the delights of the restaurant the night before!

I also have stayed in the middle tower room and that is equally wonderful!!

The beds are SO comfortable, i slept really well.  

For those that care about such things, the Vodaphone reception wasn't great, but hey!  A night of peace for once!!!

Great beef main course and food all round was superb. The head waiter was attentive and attentive pleasant but the bar man and a younger male were overheard talking incessantly about being in the gym and what they could bench press. If they’d spent more time being attentive to their clientele, this would be a five star review.
