The food here was amazing and staff were polite and friendly! I would recommend this place :) 
I’m definitely going to take my family here for a meal and drinks soon.

Polite and friendly staff 

Enjoyed our stay during Henley Regatta so very busy everywhere.  Arrived early for drinks, nice atmosphere,  friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely room, with everything you could need - iron, hairdryer etc.  
Delicious evening meal and breakfast.   Would recommend

Lovely Stay

An absolutely outstanding place to stay and dine!

After a difficult couple days due to airline issues it was a blessing to find this location by chance. Carrie on my arrival was amazingly supportive and helpful getting basic items due to no luggage which was hugely appreciated.

Both dinner and breakfast were fantastic and service exceptionally fast.

Room was very cozy with great, quirky presented amenities that were super cool.

Somewhere massively recommended as a place to stay or dine. 

Outstanding hotel & restaurant

Lovely stay, welcoming staff, 4 poster bed, roll top bath, lots of extra luxuries - beautiful large room, we had a fantastic steak dinner by the open fire and the fabulous handmade chocolates for after. We only stayed one night but will definitely come back for a longer stay again.

Overnight (Saturday). 
Lovely Pub, rooms very clean and well appointed. Unfortunately the food and service let it down, everything seemed to much trouble the service in the restaurant was almost nonexistent plates and glasses just plonked down, no check back,food was ok but felt overpriced. Breakfast was good but still poor service.

Disappointed

Very comfortable, quiet, double room in an annexe adjacent to the pub.  All usual facilities provided, including tea and coffee making and also snacks and a drinks fridge with a few complimentary and optional drinks and snacks to buy. Good choice of food at the pub and small range of Butcombe beers. Very good breakfast options, with mainly locally sourced products. Very convenient location set back from the A4 Bath Road. I would definitely stay again.

Convenient and comfortable overnight stays.

I booked this reservation in anticipation of meeting an old friend who lived nearby rather than spending silly money to stay in London overnight. Really nice bar area/lounge as you enter and the Dining Area looked nice and well set out too. You can dine in the lounge area if you wish. The bedroom was comfortable, well furnished and more than adequate. I particularly liked the ground coffee and the Cafetiere to make a decent coffee rather than the instant stuff you get in every other place. We ate dinner here and a little pricey but the quality of the food was good I have to say. Breakfast was included also which is unusual nowadays and a welcome change. All the staff were courteous and welcoming. That's the positives, now the negatives. Check in was complicated. I had booked via Booking.com but when we arrived, it took two people to sort things out. I had already Checked In online as offered so why was it not a simple as handing me a room key on arrival ? The door handle to the room entry door was loose. The shower tiles (wall and floor) could have done with a good squirt of Cillit Bang Black Mould Remover. There was some minor paint touch up required to the room. I do not know what it was but it sounded as if a pump was running all night with the noise coming from the ceiling void. A repetitive noise which as I say, sounded like a pump whose bearings had given up.


Recommended and would stay again

Initially looking for pies (as in the TV series: 'Pie in the Sky') but not available on Sundays.
So tried their their Sunday Roast with pork and crackling. Great.
The chef definitely know what he is doing......
Their cocktail: 'Sapling Collins' is wonderful.
Staffs are most attentive and welcoming.
Must come back to try their pies another day.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Attention to every detail. Beautiful room. Large modern bathroom.  Fresh coffee in the room and a mini bar with everything you could want. Lots of free parking.  Lovely restaurant with great waiting staff. Delicious breakfast with great choices. I cant wait to go go back. 

Birthday weekend with friends

Lovely bedroom with everything you could need .  Dinner was good , my husband had steak and commented that it was spot on . Staff pleasant and attentive . January is always quiet so not many other guests but the place was warm and welcoming. Would love to sit in the courtyard in Summer
