Gwel an mor is an incredible resort. We stayed over Christmas 🎄 and had such an amazing time. Our 2 young children aged 4 and 5 loved the Christmas Eve party in the soft play and the quiet pool facilities and sensory friendly play park. 

There are so many beautiful coves within a short driving distance and portreath beach  just a short walk away. 

The accommodation was amazing, we stayed in lodge H23 which didn’t overlook any other lodges and had a beautiful view. It was incredibly clean and very modern with great tech. The double oven was super and a good size for cooking our Christmas dinner! Loved the sound system and being able to connect the tv to it. Hot tub was fantastic and so much better than anywhere else we have stayed as we had access to it out of the bedroom door. Everything at Gwel an mor has been carefully considered making it such a great place to stay. Thank you so much for also including the Christmas tree, it saved us bringing one with us. 

We will 100% be coming back if we can get a good deal for next Christmas. 

We felt it was very good value and would recommend it to anyone. We had a landline in the lodge and the reception called a couple of times to check everything was ok with our stay which was a nice touch. Great customer service overall, they couldn’t do enough for us.

The ONLY negative for our family was not having free access to the soft play. We felt that having paid a reasonable sum for the holiday that this could have been included or atleast one or two entries for free. Otherwise for a family of 4 it’s £17 every time. 

It also would have been great to have had a little note when we arrived to say what was open and when on-site as we weren’t sure when the wildlife area or pool was open etc.

I won’t end on a negative because I would rate the resort 9/10! The luxury eco lodges are well worth spending a little extra on. 

Perfect family holiday location

Another good week away in a Scandinavian lodge at Gwel an Mor.  Lovely clean lodge, everything I needed was provided.  Balcony door blew open on a very windy day which wouldn't close properly but maintenance fixed straight away.  Restaurant is amazing ... those chips!! ... and staff are so attentive and extremely helpful especially when my partner needed a taxi ordering at short notice.  Thanks also to Lynda on reception for her wonderful help.  Looking forward to staying again in 2024.

Another good week away

Christmas 2023 we stayed in lodge 107 eco lodge, we love this place second Xmas here.
We loved the  lodge location very private and could see the sea on good days.
Few issues with lodge but staff very helpful.
Fair play to hot tub guys they are checking the tubs all the time.
We highly recommend the terrace for food lovely place.
Very disappointed about how filthy and poorly run the base camp was on both visits this year.
Visiting Santa was lovely and my kids love the reindeers.
Glad to see you did keep the reindeer dust but preferred it when you had them in lodge for kids when arrived as really nice touch last Xmas. (This year at base camp to put in bags yourself Xmas eve party) 
We love this place so much we have already booked our summer holiday and will be looking to book Xmas 2024

Xmas 2023 🎅🏻

We love this place so much, this is the 2nd Christmas we have spent at Gwel and are hoping to spend next Christmas here again. We stay at the eco lodges and love them, Christmas Eve with Santa was lovely but we did prefer the last time we came where you met Santa in the little room it was a lot more personal, personally I feel that would have made it even better as now it’s everyone in a room and the kids don’t really get a chance to speak over each other. The only downsides I would say compared to last time is you now have to pay for soft play if you are staying whereas last time we had free access included in our stay, we also didn’t get charged for extra kindling last time for the fire but this time was told it’s now charged, we only had a small amount when we arrived. Also our friends are staying at a dog friendly lodge next to us and they don’t have any gates which means the dog isn’t secure if he gets out the front door. I find it much for better for peace of mind having a gate to be able to shut, I feel all dog friendly lodges should have gates. 

The food at the terrace is stunning and it’s great that you can get a takeaway to your lodge. The lodges are really clean, beds comfy and we arrived to essentials like milk, tea, coffee etc which was lovely. Our dog also had a welcome pack! We are sad to be leaving tomorrow but hoping we can come back again next year, the downsides are only minor and it won’t stop us returning. 

Christmas break 

Went here with my partner daughter and dog. Stayed in the eco lodge and it was fantastic! Spotlessly cleaned when we arrived and the small touches like the dog pack were great added extras. 
Beds comfortable and hot tub was great and checked everyday ( apart from Christmas Day obviously)  lodge felt private and the log fire was perfect for the cold weather. 
Amazing walks for the pooches and close to lots of lovely beaches and not far from a Morrison’s.  
Friendly staff and had a great time meeting Santa at the farm. 
Honestly had such a lovely time here for our Christmas get away and will be returning next year. 
 

Great place for Christmas get away 

On our way home from an absolutely lovely weekend away here, we’ve previously had a touring caravan and then stayed in static caravans for our trips with our dog, thought we would try a lodge this time and gwel an mor certainly didn’t disappoint, we stayed in a Scandinavian pet friendly lodge, we received a text to say our lodge was ready earlier than check in time which was perfect, instructions very clear to get into lodge, on entering lodge it was lovely and warm and clean, the dog was very happy with his comfy bed and treats , very spacious bedrooms and clean bathrooms, upstairs was very airy and again very clean and they had thought of everything , milk in the fridge, and washing up stuff, and some lovely wine too, after exploring the area our dog was very sandy and so we were over the moon to find that there was a doggy shampoo and wash station just outside reception, all these little touches made our stay effortless, we will be returning and telling all our friends

Just what we needed

We have just returned from a week away (plus an extra day, as we didn’t want to come home). The facilities were perfect for us. Our 9year old loved tennis and the reptile experience in Feardon farm. Our 6 year old loved the climbing wall, soft play and swimming (she learned to swim this week). We loved the hot tub and restaurant. The food was high quality and service great. Also the Takeaway  service was fast and food hot. 
The staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They were always polite and helpful. A little shout out to the staff whose names I can remember, (although they were all lovely). Karen on reception, Katie in the restaurant, Beth and Riley for climbing wall and Will and Jo in the farm. Will helped our little boy when he felt unwell. 
We stayed in the tregear Scandinavian lodge pet friendly. Had everything we needed and the dog was very content there. 
If we could change one thing, it would be the TVs. Needs smart TVs ideally. The chrome cast was not brilliant. However, we were so busy we didn’t need to watch up that much.
We all had a brilliant time. Kids cried when we left. We will return as soon as we can.

Fun-filled holiday

First time staying at Gwel An Mor but won’t be our last - we absolutely loved it. Stayed in a lakeside lodge with a hot tub and it was bliss. The bed was huge and comfortable. Everything was very clean and well presented. Check in and out was seamless. The food and service in the Terrace was great. The pool and sauna area was a real treat. And everyone there could have not been more friendly and helpful. Highly recommend - we loved it and have come away feeling so refreshed and relaxed even though we only spent 2 nights.

Bliss

Overall we had a lovely week at Gwel a Mor so thank you for that.  Although there were a few things that didn’t quite make it five star for us…

We thought we would treat ourselves to the Trigea Scandinavian lodge…wasn’t quite worth the money due to the overall up keep. Especially in the down stairs bathroom and main bedroom (although I understand maintenance work is being carried out?) 
On arrival the floor was soaking wet (from being cleaned) and none of the heaters were turned on-we had to go around and do this ourselves! No problem with this but on a cold November week it would have been nice for the heaters to be on on arrival? 

We ate at the restaurant on-site for the first night. It was generally okay although nothing to write home about. Expensive for what we paid and we thought we could do similar ourselves at home. 

Lots to do for the family on site (especially with the weather being poor). The swimming pool however was freezing! So much that we only took our one year old in once, he was shivering so didn’t put him through it again! I understand from speaking to others the pool used to be warm..maybe cut backs due to the current climate? 

We visited the farm as it was the Christmas weekend. On visiting again all the gates were locked so I presume you have to pay to actually go and see the animal inside? 

On second night (around 8.30) we had a couple of loud knocks on the front door (so much so this woke up our little girl who was asleep). It was the security guard saying we had to move our car (our car was parked outside the lodge-not blocking anyone in what so ever. The reason why we couldn’t move it to our designated space was because of the Xmas weekend and someone was parking in it (which we were warned about by the reception staff on arrival). If this happens to a family again perhaps call them or let them know in the morning? It’s not exactly an urgent matter. 

Overall we did have a lovely stay despite the about and would return again (just not around an expensive period as wouldn’t quite be worth the money for us). Great location and welcoming staff on arrival.

Could be better but an enjoyable week

We stayed in a lakeside signature lodge.. 
first thing I will say is that the staff were very good. Friendly, welcoming, helpful. Customer service was great. 
Unfortunately like most people on here I got taken in by the 5 star rating and the lovely pictures thinking it would be £179 a nights worth. 
It most certainly was not. 
I’m not fussy but when I read that somewhere is 5 star I assume like most a few things. 1. That the hot tub will be hot and ready to use upon arrival. It wasn’t. It wasn’t till around 7pm that it got to a “useable” temperature. It states in their manual that it may not even be up to temperature until the morning after you check in. Why sell a hot tub stay for 1 night?? 
2. I would assume a certain level of decor. I wouldn’t expect tears in bed linens, poorly decorated walls, tired furniture. 

I booked this because it looked very premium and flashy online which is why I paid more for just one night via hoeseasons but in all honesty the level of what we received from the lodge was about the same level as a caravan we booked through hoeseasons for 3 nights a few months before. 

Moral of the story, just book a cheaper caravan stay for more nights with a hot tub and to be honest it would probably be the same - but better because you have a 3 night stay
