Lovely country feel at the end of a long drive away from road noise.  Town is just a few minutes by car or could be walked in approximately 30 mins.  There is plenty of parking and a cycle path approx 1 mile away.

Palatial in appearance lovely location

The hotel is located in picturesque grounds very close to the village of Weston under Penyard. From our arrival until leaving 2 days later, the staff were some of the most friendly and welcoming that I have had the pleasure to encounter. Our room overlooking the drive was spacious, with a large separate bathroom. It had a kettle with tea, coffee and biscuits provided (and replaced daily), a good quality t.v. set and 2 large wardrobes. Breakfast was taken in the conservatory attached to the dining room. As the number of guests was low, hot food was cooked to order which made it all the more enjoyable. We had one evening meal, which was taken in a bar area, again due to low numbers. Both the trout and the fruit crumble were top class.

Given a Red Letter present from my son for our 52nd wedding anniversary,to a one night stay with meals at Penyard House.On arrival booked in very efficiently Large bedroom in main house which was very clean along with the bathroom.

No complaints at all with this hotel. Very friendly staff who looked after us very well during our stay and made us feel very welcome. A very clean hotel, though not modern. Great food served in stunning dining room. The hotel is also in great location and only a couple of miles from Ross-on-Wye town centre.
If ever I have a reason to be in this area again I would have no hesitation in rebooking a stay at this hotel!!

A very enjoyable stay!!

We had a couple of days here for a break. The location looked great but was a bit tired and soulless inside. The room was clean and functional but not a place to relax in. There are seating areas around the hotel which are comfortable and free during the day but busy later. The dining area is bright but lacks character but the concise menu was well presented. Breakfast was buffet style, lukewarm and very bland. The hotel is obviously geared up for the Leadership courses that seems to be the main business and it feels like a delegate package rather than the sort of place for a comfortable couple of days break. 

Great potential but doesn’t quite get there

A lovely building and could be really elegant inside but it needs care and attention. Our room was in the other building and was quite sparse, however a large bed and quite comfortable.  Breakfast was included but very disappointing.  Plates and food were like warm. Solid scrambled egg that could be sliced but the 2nd day we were given the opportunity to have eggs cooked in other ways so opted for the poached hex which were done well. 

We ate in the restaurant both nights, the food was ok, nothing special.  

The hotel runs leadership trust courses and I felt it was geared up for that and was adequate but didn’t have the niceties one would expect when having a hotel break. 

Could be better.

All good, lovely venue, friendly staff and enjoyable evening meal.
However, both breakfasts buffet style and average at best. Other than that, all good. Thanks to all.

All good, but.....

Our group of 5 had afternoon tea as part of a Christmas present. We were seated quickly in a lovely room with a beautiful view. The service was efficient and staff were friendly. However the food was quite disappointing. One member said the coffee was awful (person preference maybe?), but the tea was fine. Sandwiches were basic-cheese and cucumber, salmon and cream cheese and ham and tomato (mine was soggy but only seemed to be mine). We assumed the cakes were bought in which was disappointing as this was quite expensive (15.95 each), but had a big selection. The scones were nice and well supplied with cream and jam. Although we waited a while for service afterwards (we were the only people there) we were sorted quickly once asked. It was a lovely setting but won’t be back for the afternoon tea.

Used a Red Letter days gift so that we could visit Ludlow Castle. Penyard House was a great location - minutes drive from beautiful Ross-on-Wye and great proximity to Ludlow - well worth a visit. 
Hotel staff were exceptional especially Mal on reception. She was always smiling and did everything to make our stay great. We asked to have a different room and she sorted straight away. Nothing majorly wrong with first room just a little small. Everything was there in our new room that we needed - room furnishings a little tired but breakfast was truly amazing and room was quiet. Mal arranged taxi into town for us on the Friday eve. Beautiful setting of hotel and perfect for a couple of days. Would recommend. And once again thank you to Mal and the rest of the staff

Fabulous staff, great couple of days

We visited this hotel as a group of 6 adults for a murder mystery evening for our father's 80th birthday. We also chose to stay an extra night. The hotel is a little tired however it is clean and the grounds are outstanding! I have never been to any hotel with such hardworking happy friendly staff nothing was too much trouble! The most surprising thing was the amazing food. The quality and variety of food far outstripped any expectation! The breakfast was superb good quality pastries and bread. Freshly cooked fried items with eggs to order. Amazing selection of cereals and fresh fruit. The evening meals were varied and excellent quality and the vegetables tasted as though they had been picked fresh that day! 
The murder mystery group was also second to none and I would highly recommend an evening with them at this hotel!
