I booked this hotel for the weekend with my sister for a concert we were attending in Sheffield. When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist was very unwelcoming. She consistently asked how old I was ( I am 25 years old and the booking was in my name). She photocopied my ID and then asked my sister how old she is (she is 18.) she then told my sister she needed her ID and photocopied this too. Never in my life has a hotel in England required the second guests ID! This put us off to a bad start. 

When we got to the room it looked clean apart a big stain on the floor. However we then noticed the chain from the door had been ripped off!

We got back from the concert at 11pm to find the male receptionist ASLEEP ON THE DESK!? The front door was unlocked and anyone could have walked in!! We then did not feel safe especially knowing the chain wasn’t on our bedroom door! (MANAGER OF THIS HOTEL PLESSE WATCH THE CCTV FROM 8TH MARCH 2024 11PM AS IT IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE AND NOT ACCEPTABLE IN ANY WAY!)

We slept find until my sister woke up as something kept scratching her leg, there we found a piece of metal mesh that was in the bed sheets (see picture attached). We had the do not disturb sign on the door as we wanted a lie in after the concert. Imagine my surprise when the cleaners are outside our bedroom door at 10am complaining about their pay and how their mate on benefits earns more than them.

Do not visit this hotel as a single female as it does not feel safe at all. I did not go to reception with the issues I had as they were extremely off with us from the moment we walked in for whatever unknown reason.

I frequent hotels (including budget) regularly for leisure and work and have never experienced anything like this.

I expect a response to my complaint.

Unsafe hotel with rude staff

The hotel itself was ok, room was unspectacular but for the price wasn't expecting much. Air con may as well have not been there for how limited a job it did. Staff were lovely and even lent my parents a fan for their room. However......I've never come out of a hotel having been bitten by something. Not just a bite on my leg or arm but my shoulders and back absolutely covered in them. For a hotel still with all of their COVID signage up they're clearly not the best when it comes to cleaning and cleanliness. So at the very least, avoid room 213 for now as the mattress nearest the door needs incinerating and replacing 

Avoid room 223 - bed bugs

A spacious room of a good standard, cleaned and new towels provided on a daily basis.  The reception staff are pleasant and helpful
  The hotel is good value for money and vast improvement on the last time we stayed here.

Good value for money 

Decent hotel, nothing special at all but fine for a one night stay. Bit pricey for what you get but all in all not too bad at all! :) Amazing Chinese restaurant called Dynasty nearby - would deffo reccommend !!! 

Basic 

Absolutely appalling hotel, I was so disappointed.  Arrived to freezing cold room as window had been left open to turn an all night rave taking place on floor above! Bathroom was mouldy and there were stains in loo when we arrived that hadn’t been cleaned. I’ve sent two emails now to hotel and called reception to complain but no one has got back to me! Very disappointed.

The name of this hotel said it all ,as the staff were so welcoming,room was spacious and very clean,heating was great and was needed in the - conditions,will definitely use again,great place and price to use if visiting Meadowhall 

Welcome inn is a great name 

Dirty Knocking shop, had 2 rooms told wrong number for 1 of them the other had to be changed due to blood on the bed, mattresses well worn out springs everywhere coming through. Says something when at 9am someone's checking in man women no luggage hmmmmm. Noise all night from banging above and corridor. Fixtures curtains hanging down switch broken on lights really looking tired

Stayed here from friday 4th-Sunday 6th June. 
Bad bits: bed was very uncomfortable. Room was too hot. 
Air con didnt work and window didnt open enough to allow for fresh air (understand this is a health and safety issue). 

Good bits: friendly and welcoming staff 
Easy check in and check out process 
Good price 
Fantastic pub next door that serves amazing breakfasts!

Could be better

Booked for Easter weekend 3 nights.
Louise took our booking and was very helpful as our son is in a wheelchair. 
We got to the hotel and she had even saved us a disabled parking space. The little things that make a big difference. 
Definitely recommend and definitely will return. 
Great location, Next to a bowling alley and a pub another 100 yards away.

Easter weekend 

The hotel was fine and did exactly as we needed initially. Room fine, checkin staff nice and polite. The issue was the next morning the cleaning staff shouting to each other, talking and laughing really loudly outside the room on the corridor from 8am until 9:30am, meaning we were woke very early and couldn’t get back to sleep. Has put is off staying here in future.
