i wish i could say my experience was great as stated on  website but i must admit the food was terrible my gravy had skin as if it had been sat there for a few hours and also to m y delight i noticed a floating hair. i b rushed this of originally but the glass i drank out of had lipstick stains (must have been reused) as i stayed overnight i had many encounters with staff there was a pair of ladies that greeted me they were very irate and not very welcoming so there was a lack of customer service etiquette skills  im very disappointed and will not be staying again.

Lovely welcoming pub, food wonderful and prices not too bad (considering with the situation of the cost of living)

The team were very welcoming, we pre booked food options and it was ready when we were ready. plenty of space inside, great food and service.

must give a big shout out for the best smelling male toilets I've been in :-)

Great pub and great food

Room was clean and warm, normal tea and coffee available in room,  slept well and good breakfast, also had a nice meal, dog friendly and even gave her a sausage for breakfast, found a good walk from pub to see local area.

Night away

The setting was perfect and the staff were really friendly and helpful
We attended a wake there and the food was amazing.
We booked 3 rooms but unfortunately we found that they were a bit dated and dusty.
Unfortunately the upstairs did not reflect the downstairs
We had breakfast in the morning and I had to put my coat on to eat it as it was so cold in the room.
The staff made the visit to be honest and it was only a one nights stay.
As for value for money I’m not really sure

Family funeral

We stayed here as a 1 night get away for our wedding anniversary. The location of the Robin Hood is very quiet and tranquil opposite the green. Room was very clean and modern with a decent double bed and shower etc. The food here is top quality with a great variety along with a good selection of real ales and wines. Hospitality 10/10 also, couldn’t do enough for you. Will definitely recommend to others.

Great Overnight Stay at The Robin Hood in Rowlands Castle

My wife and I stayed one night thankfully. Whilst the bedroom was adequate there are a few missing basics like a box of tissues and a hairdryer we had issues with the bed and bedding. I need three pillows in order to sleep as I have a back problem. When I asked the staff for another - there were two on either side of the double bed, all well used and as flat as a pancake - another one couldn't be provided! I was given a cushion however which I put under the pillows. However, the biggest problem was the mattress.  This relates to room 4 so I can't speak of the other rooms. The mattress was out of the Ark and was so uncomfortable neither my wife nor I could find anywhere to get comfortable. The springs and the metal framework were bearly concealed by the mattress cover fabric.  Consequently, anything resembling sleep was impossible. I suggested to the staff in the morning that the mattress should be in the skip before any other poor should have to endure what we had to. 
Redemption came about in the form of a most excellent breakfast. We had some trepidations beforehand but it was probably one of the best pub/hotel breakfasts we have had in a long while. the service was quick, and the quality and quantity were excellent. We did congratulate the chef for this meal as we felt it deserved a comment.
The only other negative was that the cleaner decided to wash and vacuum the floors in the bar area ( adjacent to the restaurant and on an open plan basis) which was a little offputting with the vacuum noise and the smell of bleach whilst eating.

Sleepless night

Waited an hour and 40 minutes for food to come to the table. Myself and my sister-in-law ordered lasagna which was still frozen in the middle. Obviously no checking of temperature by the chef. Plastic also found in the lasagna. Called the next day to make a formal complaint. Manager was not aware of the situation. I did not want to make a big deal of it on the day as we were with family from
Australia, Ireland and Scotland. This meal ruined the whole get together. Also my sister in law is also breast feeding so she could have, not by her fault, poisoned her 4th old due to the simple fact that due diligence did not occur in this restaurant.

Disgusting

Last minute booking, when everywhere seemed to be booked up. Very easy booking and instant confirmation. Always a bit of a punt when you  are short of choice but the moment we entered the village and saw the exterior,we felt we had 'hit the bullseye' Set on the village green ...great location and a warm welcome from The staff... and even the owner  took time  to say hello. Nothing was too much trouble for them! Our room was beautifully furnished and comfortable, but the jewel in the crown? ...the dining! As its located off the beaten track a bit, we dined in house and what a decision! 
Pub food is often dismissed as bland and lacking in choice, I promise you this was one of the best meals I have eaten on the road, ..informed the chef was new.. what a find and addition to the staff she is! Beautifully cooked and presented it was almost a shame to eat it!....but it just made the whole experience a real pleasure!!....if you are heading this way check it out, and if you do eat in!!..... I will return there when the chance arrives...highly recommended.....well by me anyway!!

Like it's name....hit the target spot on!

I would love a Ricky Gervais or Steve Coogan to visit this place - as it could be made into a world class sitcom. What started out as bad service just became so bad it honestly became one of the most hilarious weekends of our lives. Let me give you a few genuine interactions. The barmaid with the short hair who checked us in was brilliant. Honestly if a character is made about her she would be David Brent fame

While checking in.

"Afternoon we have 4 rooms this weekend"

"You need to pay for them"

"We paid for them 18 months ago in full"

"No you didn't"

Then proceed to show her the email confirmation stating paid in full.

"Oh fair enough"

Asking the same woman with short hair why they were calling last orders at 9.50 on a Saturday night. Please bare in mind we had just spent a thousand pounds on rooms and food.

"Last orders 9.50"

"Is it normal for you to call last orders for hotel guests at 09.50 on a Saturday night?"

"No - but I am going on holiday tomorrow and I have to get up early."

While going down for the fully cooked breakfast we had paid for in the room rate.

"Chef called in sick - do you want  a bowel of coco pops?"

When a little one in our party ordered mac n cheese?

"The mac has gone off - do you want cheese sauce on spaghetti? 

The food was awful I mean really awful. Steak was burnt to a crisp, the peppercorn sauce was water, the weird woman with the short hair spilled tartar sauce all over one of our parties and no apology.

The rooms were awful, nothing was cleaned properly, and by far the rudest service of my life.

But please visit - everybody has to experience this place once.
