We have just returned from a week stay in Bach y Graig- what a wonderful place! A fantastic location to go and explore north wales yet also enjoy the peace and tranquility of being alone in the beautiful welsh countryside. 
An incredible house to stay in for the history and very comfortable too. Lovely pieces of furniture and furnishings creating just the right mood for a house built c1547! Comfortable clean rooms with a lovely large sitting room (1 of 2). I enjoyed sitting in the kitchen taking in the incredible views whilst watching my two kids playing in the large hedged secure garden. Such a relaxing week. Even when our car broke down, we were very grateful to be in such a gorgeous place whilst waiting for it to be fixed. Great access to beaches - Llandudno and Prestatyn for us - (just don’t go to Rhyll, our only mistake the whole week). Recommend the Dinorben Arms for a local restaurant. Lovely place to cycle to. 
The hosts Anwen and David were both friendly and lovely to chat to. Wish them all the best. Thank you for a lovely holiday x

A fantastic week in Bach y Graig

Myself and my husband stayed her last weekend.
This was our second visit after staying here for two nights exactly a year ago as that’s when it’s our wedding anniversary and we always love to explore Wales.
Our second stay was just as lovely as I remember it  was last year.
The hosts ... Anwen and David are both pleasant and  easy to chat to.
Both breakfasts served with lovely fresh produce and at a time to suit us.
The dining table is hundreds of years old as are most of the exquisite furnishings they have gathered over many years there. I think David said the farm had been in his family for 3 generations.
There are many lovely places to eat and drink close by,The white horse and is lovely for home cooked food.
There is so much to do and see near ST Asaph plus a walk through the ancient woodland that surrounds this amazing farmhouse.
You really have to see it to believe it!

Fully fitted delightful farmhouse kitchen. Everything you could wish for.

“More than a farmhouse”

Beautifull farmhouse, charming owners, the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and 5 star breakfast to boot, all attributes duly acknowledged by previous visitors. It's a working farm, too, so you take the surroundings and aromas along with everything else. But Bach y Graig was more than that. The gatehouse is all that remains of a 16th century Dutch mansion, one of the many homes of the ancient Salusbury family later inherited by Dr Samuel Johnson's tavelling companion, Hester Thrale before she moved to Brynbella down the road. There is history here amongst the farm buildings. The milking parlour sits on ground where once the first ever red-brick building in Wales was put up, complete with pyramid roof topped with a cupola which now crowns Brynbella. This is a place to relax and enjoy everything about you, including the cows, it's their home too.

More than a farmhouse

Bach y Graig is a working dairy farm with all the sights, sounds and smells that may entail. In no way did this upset us but I could see it not being everyones cup of tea.

The building is charming and fascinating in its age, design and construction.
A veritable museum inside with the wooden beams, furniture and ornaments on display.
Equally historic is the old barn with its stone mullions.

The room was immaculately clean.

The farm is well located just off a main road and not too far from the A 55; it is  a good location for touring North Wales.

Anwen the hostess could not do enough for us and was most helpful with suggestions on dining in the local area.

A very quiet and peaceful location.

two nights on farm

Just had a week in the farmhouse at Bach y Graig and what a peaceful and relaxing place to stay.
At first we thought it might be a bit too far away from Snowdonia but within 45 minutes you are in the heart of the area and the A55 is easily accessible so in our week stay we managed to do Llandudno and the Great Orme,  walk up Snowdon from Llanberis,  take a train ride on The Ffestiniog railway from Porthmadog , a trip to Chester , Go Karting in Caernarfon and a day in Anglesey and a boat trip to Puffin Island so all go but didn't have to get up too early to do all this .
The farmhouse accommodation is really good with large kitchen and 2 lounges one with a TV but we spent most evenings in the larger lounge playing board games which was good family bonding instead of being stuck in front of the box .
The bedrooms were also of a high standard and enjoyed staying in the 4 poster room .
We did have a giggle at the downstairs toilet as is under the stairs and reminded us of Mrs Browns Boys !
Lovely garden with tables and chairs to enjoy a drink outside before dinner and we enjoyed seeing the cows and the calf's in the fields and that's about the only noise you hear .
We ate out in Denbigh a few times and found some good places to eat notibly the Italian and The Mill restaurant. 
Will definitely consider coming back here again .

Farmhouse delight 

Which is what Bach Y Graig translates as, and is a family farmhouse, originally the gatehouse of a country seat - how big the seat was is anybody's guess, but the current farm is huge.
We only had three days there, but I could have stayed much longer, and explored the nature walk, climbed the forested hill behind, and even explored the Clwyd river a bit more. This area is a gem for walkers, birdwatchers and anyone keen to leave the bustle of the city behind.
The rooms were lovely, and all had views over the valley. The family running the place were friendly and helpful. If you are interested in farming, this was one of the neatest and well run I've ever seen. Even the road was cleaned after the cattle were moved for milking and back, and the pens with the calves were pristine.
Being close to the A55, all the lovely tourist locations were easy access: 30 mins to Conway and 45 to Chester and Beaumaris.
Breakfast was superb, with the table laden with choices for everyone, up to the traditional Welsh breakfast. Individual tastes were catered for - just ask for your favourite mix and nothing is too much trouble. Evening meals have to be sourced from a variety of local pubs, so you will need some transport, but Trefnant and Tremeirchion are well within range.
All in all, a lovely place to stay and we will be going back again as soon as possible.
