Abrupt news to staff without warning.

If anyone booked and paid for local 2020 golf accommodation this year please take action.

Neither owners or managers were trained in the hospitality business, allegedly.

Good news is that accountants are hopeful of a rescue bid.

Bankrupt and in administration

Salutation has ceased trading as of last week I phoned to book a room to be told this news and that they were entering administration .

Perhaps it may reopen under new owners?

Sad to see a Good Hotel Guide recommended Hotel fail, as I understand it had a good named

We stayed at the hotel with friends on Friday night and loved it. The rooms were great, the staff and service impeccable.  We enjoyed the 9 course tasting menu in the restaurant and will definitely be back.

Fabulous

My wife and I first visited The Salutation in the summer of 2018. This was a time of great stress. The hotel was the perfect antidote. We had a beautiful room in this fabulous Lutyens property. We loved the lounge and reading room, the beautiful, relaxing gardens, the little cafe next door and the garden shop. We could not have been more warmly welcomed. We returned just a week ago. If anything our experience this time around was even more positive. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner, including a particularly imaginative  Winter game menu. I won't go on and be even more positive - because I'd like to make sure there is a room free when we want one next.

Wonderful hotel in a fabulous setting

What a wonderful 6 days and 5 nights spent in this glorious relaxing hotel.
The staff have been so kind and helpful from the ladies on reception to the gentleman running the house keeping and all the waiting staff. Nothing was too much trouble to make our stay pleasant. 
Our room was light and airy, comfortable and spacious and had a double aspect view to the wonderful gardens.
The restaurant is a gastronomic experience tantalising your taste buds with flavours and the freshness of food.
Chef Hughes and his team never disappointed us.
We had the taster menu, the a la carte menu breakfast menu and bar menu. 
All was cooked with the same care and precision on every dish that left the kitchen.
The gardens are a great bonus and if you are staying at the hotel you do not need to pay for entry.
They are a tranquil haven of colour and wildlife.
There are seating areas throughout the various parts of the gardens where you can relax and take in the scenery.
There is also a plant shop and cafe on the side.
There is a small car park for residents is available.
We can only say positive things about our stay and we will definitely return sooner rather than later.

Excellent Afternoon Tea

We absolutely loved our stay. Everyone made us feel welcome, nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was amazing, we especially enjoyed the dinner in the tasting room and the kitchen staff are fantastic. Special mention for Luis who's warm and relaxed personality, plus first-class service, made the weekend even more special for our group. We also all loved the accommodation, which was stylish, spacious and extremely comfortable. We'll definitely be back!

Simply Excellent

Not only was this evening a surprise for me but it was a surprise for the restaurant.... we turned up a week early but despite being fully booked, they were so gracious and squeezed us in.

From the welcome to the cocktails in the elegant bar to the dinner, the service was faultless.

We had the tasting menu which was delicious, particularly the snacks, tuna and beef.

Birthday Surprise!

After wandering around the beautiful Salutation gardens we walked in for lunch at the hotel. The waiter who looked after us (we were the only table) was amazing, very welcoming & very patient with the elderly members of our group. The lunch menu food was delicious. We all had the ploughman’s platter. We would love to go back for their afternoon tea experience. 

Birthday Lunch

We visited the Salutation for an Afternoon tea, and it was one of the best we have had. On arrival we were greeted by an enthusiastic and very pleasant receptionist. We were a bit early so were shown out to the hotel gardens. Although most of the plants were past their flowering best, it was still a nice walk round, and must be great at when the flowers are in full bloom.
The tea itself was delicious, particularly the cake selection. You are allowed more than one plate of sandwiches / savouries but we found you do need to ask for them. It would have been nice to have the waiters ask us a bit more. Apart from that small criticism, it was a lovely experience.
