Stayed in this hotel for two nights, staff were very friendly and helpful…. Breakfast was amazing, one of the best we’ve ever had.  Rooms very dated but clean with tea and coffee making facilities.  The view from the room was lovely, you can see all along the coast.  We also walked up and down the steep hill, even I managed it with a couple of stops lol.  

Worth a visit

We booked a few nights midweek stay and enjoyed despite lots of cobwebs (spotted laying in bed on our first night) in our room which was otherwise clean.   The hotel is dated but comfortable and isn't too far from Saundersfoot.  There is a walk up a steep hill back to the hotel but I'm asthmatic and unfit but managed it without too much difficulty. 

Our room a small double was... Small. This wouldn't have been a problem but there was a huge double wardrobe in the room, and some pointless shelves. There had been an attempt to update the room by painting furniture grey but those sapele doors and chipped plastic fake wood windowsills were a reminder of my childhood home from the 70's, a proper blast from the past. 

The bed was clean and comfortable, with a tiny TV with free view.  Bathroom was big with a wonderful shower and lovely hot water.  Free Internet was good and there was plenty of parking. 

We had breakfast which was £10pp and it was nice. There was a selection of cereal, orange juice and apple juice to help yourself but, hot drinks and toast were ordered with a waitress along with the main breakfast which was hot and delicious.  Breakfast staff were really friendly and smiley.  

There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room but be careful as our milk seemed to be off

As we travel frequently I always leave an extension lead in the case,  used it this time as there was no plug near a mirror.

All in all an enjoyable few days, you can tell the hotel is well loved and looked after,  with a few little tweaks this hotel could be excellent.  

Enjoyable

Booked last minute, I don’t ever review  but felt this hotel deserved a shout out.  , this hotel was amazing . The location is perfect , just 10 mins walk to the beach . The pool was lovely , sun loungers  were nicely padded and the palm trees a nice touch .  The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent . Russel made us very welcome . I wouldn’t hesitate staying here again. 

A last minute find !!

Lovely hotel with immaculate, well appointed, comfortable rooms, great staff and a fabulous breakfast. Excellent value for money. The views are just beautiful which is an added bonus. Looking forward to returning.

Warm and welcoming

Very much enjoyed our trip to this part of the world. Enjoyed the hotel and the staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful. The meal we had there was excellent. I liked the pool altho never actually used it but did mean too, lol

Breakaway

This was are first time at this hotel and what a lovely find it was the room was very spacious and the staff where very friendly and approachable..the breakfast was exceptional really well cooked and everything you could want to set you up for the day ... The added bonus was the outdoor  pool and seating areas would definitely visit again x

Lovely little gem ...

I was quite enjoying my stay until my last night. There’s a bell at reception. “Anything you need, ring this bell” rang the bell several times. No response. All I wanted was to pop my takeaway in the microwave for a minute….. clearly too much to ask. 

Secondly,  the bloke upstairs clearly has a snoring issue and the walls must be made of paper, kept me up most of the night & myself and my partner still can’t sleep now.
Extremely dated hotel, surprised it has a 2 star status. I’ve had better stays in a tent…. Make sure you pack ear plugs IF your stupid enough to stay

Below average

Stayed for 2 nights and wish it could have been longer How this is a 2 star I'll never know Comfortable bed large rooms very clean Staff were helpful and welcoming Beautiful pool area which we made good use of during the heatwave 
Short walk into Saundersfoot bit of a pull uphill on return but managed with a stop to admire the view We are 66/69 years of age and coped ok 
No evening meals being served but light lunches sandwiches soup and chips

Lovely stay

We discovered this gem of a hotel last year and extended our holiday 4 days and have since returned twice.  The staff are friendly and remember your name amazing, the location is great and the views are spectacular.  The hotel owner remembered my birthday and gave me Prosecco And a birthday card.   We have just returned home from yet another great holiday at the Merlewood and looking to rebook again soon.

Well worth a visit

Not too sure if this is rated as a " 2. Star"  or " 3.Star " Hotel...??.
There were no Bathroom toiletries available - and when requested at Reception I was given a minute bar of soap and one sachet of shampoo...for a 3 night stay...!!!
Also, my single room was so small that the wardrobe door would only open by about 6. inches...I  requested another room and was provided one at an extra cost of £20 per night..!!!
The Dining room Staff were most helpful and my request for Vegetarian foods was taken into account...
