Stayed here 8th August 2024. Absolutely can't fault this place at all. Room was lovely. Wonderful breakfast. Lady with blonde hair that served us at breakfast was so lovely and welcoming. Didn't get her name. Would highly recommend this place 

Beautiful place

excellent WILL definately return , what a `gem of a find`. the food was amazing . The  hotel history is really interesting . we used this as a base for whitby,saltwick,scarborough and Robin Hoods Bay. The room was airy, very clean with toletries and lovely fluffy towels

and good size with a 4 poster bed
And beautiful location  just 5 minutes north Scarborough north bay
With friendly  & helpful staff 
And good off road parking 
With a good dinning room for dinner & breakfast and good selection of beers 🍻 



One night away 

Stayed here for one night last weekend, a bit of a mixed bag is probably the best way to sum it up. The room was lovely, with a comfy bed so had a good night sleep. A couple of pints of very good real ale did help. the bathroom is nice and large but found the shower a bit inconsistent as the water kept going from hot to cold. Dinner in the evening was nice. We didn't have a reservation but the staff accommodated us with a table at a busy time for them. The menu is very basic but well cooked. dessert was clearly home made and the highlight of the evening. A bit of background music or live music would have been nice. Breakfast in the morning was disappointing. we were let into a cramped front room with tables so close together it was hard to get through.
I made the effort to get us some orange juice on an otherwise limited table of continental items but left it at that. A full Breakfast with no beans, hash brown or Back pudding ( I know it's not everybody's cup of tea) and a chipolata sausage left me underwhelmed. We did get some luke warm beans once we asked for it.

Overall we had an enjoyable stay but was it value for money? not so sure.

A mixed bag

Second visit to Cloughton, so chose to have a Sunday roast at The Blacksmiths again. The previous visit was excellent.
Sadly, not this time , very quiet , 2 roasts ordered came out very quickly.
Small dinners , 1 potato cut in half barely roasted , frozen carrots and peas as the vegetable option , wife's beef very fatty , unfortunately both meals this time left us not wanting to return.
Understandably, in these hard times, margins are tight, but so is paying £16 for a dinner one would expect better value.
Owner, as always polite enough , staff not very attentive to requests.
Set in the lovely little village of Cloughton with plenty of off-street parking.

Not as good as previous visit

Had Christmas dinner here food was plentiful turkey,duck was cooked lovely so succulent.staff were kind friendly and attended your every need.best Christmas dinner we've had in years.

Superb and friendly place

We stayed for 2 nights in September.  Our room was clean, well appointed and the bed was comfortable.  We would have preferred a second bedside light.  The ensuite bathroom was clean. However, the shower over the bath had a poor flow, but a good soak in the bath made up for this.  On our first night we were disturbed by the noise of extraction fans in other guests' bathrooms coming on at regular intervals during the night when those facilities were used.  However, on our second night, many fewer guests stayed the night, so we were not disturbed.  

We ate in the bar on both evenings were we enjoyed the tasty, freshly cooked food very much.  Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the friendly, helpful staff.  Breakfast was served in the restaurant where very generous portions were freshly prepared and efficiently served.  We would visit again.

A good place for a couple of nights near Scarborough

Decided last minute to call in the Blacksmiths Arms and so glad we did . Had a lovely roast dinner and a couple of drinks . Owner and staff were polite and top notch !! Attentive and courteous to ask if all was ok and if we needed anything more. 
The dinner was well cooked , well presented and great value . 10/10 Thank you and I’m sure we will
See you again ..

Lovely Food in a Lovely Location

From entering the pub we had the best time. The owner, Tony, his wife and all the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. We were upgraded to a room with a four poster bed. The room was very big and spotlessly clean. Food in the pub was proper home cooked food and delicious.  Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff.  We had a fabulous time and will definitely be coming back 

Blacksmith Arms. An absolute gem

This was a return visit as we dined here a couple of times last year.

The food is very good, I had the mushroom stroganoff and my husband had sea bass.  Both meals were delicious and a good size portion.

For desert my husband had lemon meringue served with ice cream which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the banana split, unfortunately this didn't hit the spot and left me disappointed.  I expected a little more than just a banana split down the middle with a little vanilla ice cream and lots and lots and lots of squirty cream drizzled with chocolate and served with a single solitary strawberry. This may be how it is served locally but I am more used to having a little more ice cream and definitely more fruit.

Overall, a good visit and we would go again.
