Stayed at this homely hotel for 2 nights September 21.
The owner Gill is very friendly andl nothing is too much trouble , her knowledge of where to visit and how to get there was very helpful.
The breakfast was probably the best we experienced, full english  ( any combination ) also a choice of cereals , fresh fruit , yoghurts etc. A bottomless tea pot too !!
The previous review was quite off putting but having experienced it myself , all i can say it do not be put off by one awful review.
Would thoroughly recommend !!

fabulous stay

Two night stay got there thursday left 6am friday morning after being persuaded to stay by my partner or would have left the day we got there! . 

Room was filthy, cracked ceilings, tiles in bathroom, black sludge under bathroom taps, rusty accessory fittings, dusty,  plug hole black, wallpaper bubbled up in bathroom to cover multitude of sins, ripped and mouldy near toilet roll holder, window in bathroom build up of black mould.  Cracks around door frames in bathroom.

Never used shower as bathroom horrendous. Used wet wipe on bedside tables etc, dirty. Used one bottom of picture frame above bed, looked like congealed fluff, awful. 

Numerous pictures taken not sure if all can be added on here.

Plus side,  old victorian house, clean bed and towels, well one medium towel each. Host pleasant and chatty. We did obtain a full refund. Shame really we were looking forward to our little trip. 

We were told by the host ceiling had been damaged by storm and new flooring was awaited. That makes it worse knowing room in a state as it is but still expecting guests to stay.  Also noticed its up for sale.

Our Lovely Stay

Lovely clean hotel. The landlady is very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for her. Very nice full English breakfast with range of cereals, fruit and toast. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely Hotel

My wife booked us a night here as part of our "staycation". 

Just what you would expect from a traditional seaside hotel.

Lovely welcome and the landlady couldn't have been more helpful and friendly (and she does a mean full English breakfast!)

Stayed here for one night.
What a cracking guest house it is.
Spotlessly clean and the owner is so friendly and cant do enough for her guests.
The breakfast is delicious and home cooked to order.
We will definitely stay here again.

Great friendly clean guest house

If you want the more spacious rooms and greater amenities (bars etc), and pay for it, then book an hotel. But if you want the home comforts of the traditional bed and breakfast at a good price then this is ideal. The owner is very friendly and sociable, and the breakfast is perfect. Cooked to order and nicely served, much better that the self service that is available in the majority of hotels, unless you really want to splash out.

Ok the rooms may not be spectacular and the one we stayed in was a little 'quirky' but they are clean and comfortable and have all the basics including tea, coffee and TV.
The place is close to town centre, just a little hill climb to get there, but that is Scarborough for you. The beach front is also very close and an easy walk, as is the Scarborough Spa area. We were given a parking permit for the time we were there so were able to park just outside the hotel.

Although the place is on a busy road I cannot say the traffic was a great problem, I think the seagulls made more noise.

Great Value Home Comforts

Stayed here last weekend after spending the day going down the coast with my partner.
Very friendly welcoming from the owner who was really helpful with informing us how to get around and what was particularly nearby.
The room was clean and even though we were facing onto quite a busy road, it wasn't noisy through the night. 
The location was ideal because it was only a 10minute walk right into the centre of the town, or a 10minute walk down to the seafront bay.
Breakfast in the morning was a generous size full English, as well as toast and fruit to go alongside. Definitely enough to set you up right for the day!
Overall I would stay here again and would recommend making sure you get breakfast here too!

Ideal Location

I went up with my in-laws for the start of the Scarborough Cricket festival. Aside from waiting for fifteen minutes to get into the place at 6pm, everything else was fantastic. While the rooms weren't massive, they were very quaint and homely, and the managers were particularly friendly. 

Lovely breakfast served up, and was perfect for our needs.

Great Service

This Victorian style hotel is very welcoming, friendly and inviting place to stay. The hostess Gill Marks made every effort to make us feel welcome, taking time out to chat to the guests as they arrived, tea and coffee in the spacious lounge. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated, TV and tea and coffee making facilities, a comfortable bed ensured a decent night sleep. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and a good choice. Again Gill made us all welcome and was a really good host. We stayed for 1 night and would consider coming back again. Parking is at the front of the building and we were given a parking permit. Breakfast is between 8:30 and 9:30 and checkout is from 10am.
