We stayed in the last week in October. We have two dogs and the hotel was great. Comfy double bed, massive bathroom with huge shower. Room was lovely and warm. Great breakfast- we had ours in the bar with the dogs which was great as it has carpet which is more comfy for the dogs to lie on. Every morning we got our breakfast and a couple of sausages wrapped up for the dogs. The location is really convenient for walking into the town. Start of the Riverside walk is next to the hotel. Train station is right next to the hotel and where we parked the car as you can park for 72 hrs there at a time for a reasonable fee. We love coming to Berwick as great pubs and restaurants that are dog friendly and so many walks!

Fantastic service

Firstly, the location is great, a minute walk from Berwick station and right on the main street and the main part of town is an easy 5 minute stroll away. The staff that I have dealt with have all been first class, helpful, cheerful, happy and willing to please. Breakfast is fantastic, the lack of black pudding on the menu being my only quibble. 

Perfect location to explore Berwick-Upon-Tweed 

This could not have been a more pleasurable ex. The staff were all fantastic and so helpful. The room was clean, bright and very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was one of the best I've ever had in a hotel. All in all, it was a pleasure to stay and i will definitely be returning.

Just had a 3 night stay at the Castlegate with my springer spaniel, we really enjoyed it.

Very limited parking on the front but we were lucky to get a space, the hotel is clean and tidy, we were in room 11 which is a single, it had a skylight which can be opened and closed with a pile provided in the room, this is easy done and not difficult.

As I’m not very bright !!! And hadn’t noticed the velux blind closed via a switch outside the bathroom, my room was bright the first night but once I had worked out that the blind does close, thst wax that issue resolved.

Small bathroom but a very good shower, had to use the cup provided to fill the kettle when I wanted a brew, but again this was easy done, I’m not one for making issues out of trivial matters.

Breakfast is very good, good selection of cereal, fruit, yoghurts etc. The cooked breakfast was faultless, very hot and quality ingredients, particularly sausage and bacon.

There is a bar which gets busy with locals and guests and I thought had a very good vibe about it, drink prices very reasonable as well.

Minimal interaction with the staff, but any questions / queries were dealt with politely, quickly and efficiently.

Good location to walk into town and the quay side, city walls, coastal walk by the golf club etc.

I would definitely stay again.

Very Good

Absolute perfect, staff were amazing, helpful from the minute we checked in, helped us with the parking which has limited availability right outside the hotel for free or in the train station car park over the road for next to nothing. Literally a minutes walk away. 
Breakfast was very tasty and served with a smile. 
The room has everything you need, we stayed in room 14 and it was more than adequate. 
The staff ask if you need anything for your rooms and you really feel they care. 
Location is the best. Lovely walk into Berwick from the hotel. 
We will definitely recommend the castle and we will definitely be back.

Amazing stay, 5***** highly recommended. Staff amazing, rooms ample, clean & tidy, fab breakfast, great location.

Booked for overnight stay for a wedding. Perfectly located opposite the station so we could get off the train and go straight to our room to get ready for the wedding (despite a 4pm check in, the accommodating staff (thank you Michelle!) kindly allowed us early access to our room as it happened to be ready on our arrival). The room was huge and freshly decorated and very clean with all we needed. When I requested an iron & ironing board one quickly appeared. The recommended an excellent can firm A1 Cabs who were quick to confirm our reservation and made our journeys to Kelso, the reception and back, completely seamless. We had a key to let ourselves in following the wedding and had a fantastic nights sleep in very comfortable beds and immaculate bed linen. We enjoyed a good breakfast including a full English and had a pain free check out with simple key drop off before rolling onto the train over the road. Incredibly convenient and made a lovely 24 hours celebrating our friend nuptials run like clockwork. Thanks to all at The Castle, you’ve absolutely nailed your operation. Completely perfect for what we needed.

Couldn’t fault it

While others may tolerate your four legged friend, the Castle Hotel positively welcomed me and my dog for a four day walking holiday.
Right next to the train station the hotel is easy to find. Staff all excellent. The single room has a skylight only, so no view which given what we paid was not a huge disappointment. Most importantly it was newly refurbished and spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was perfectly adequate.
Me and the dog would not hesitate to recommend the Castle Hotel.

Super dog friendly hotel

We stayed at the castle hotel not expecting much and we LOVED this little gem. This hotel is historic (famous personalities used to stay there) and located in a perfect location in town (easy to visit town and to park on the street). It looks like it has been recently remodelled in a minimalistic cosy theme and everything was clean and fresh. While our room was more on the compact side, it was practical and really cute ! We didn’t need more. Our only issue was that the room was facing the high street which meant a lot of noise with traffic (only when windows are open )Breakfast is simple but qualitative. We totally would recommend this hotel and its friendly staff.

What a great surprise !

The Hotel was lovely.  The staff were friendly and helpful and always there if needed. The room we stayed in was one of the small ones but was lovely and just what we needed for our 2 night stay. The food was lovely and cooked to perfection.  I would definitely recommend you stay here. The past history of the hotel is good x

Weekend visit

Stayed here 2 nights. Thoroughly enjoyed it! We had a good size room/bathroom, tastefully decorated. Spotlessly clean throughout Hotel. Food was excellent, pleasant modern style bar/lounge to relax in.
