Another bizness trip, accommodation sourced at short notice but it was great for my need-to get my head down after a drive while my crew did their thing before I drove them back home.

Ok it’s not the Ritz, but a few of the reviews I’ve read seem a but keyboard-warriorish. It’s a mile out of town on the main road, and rooms seem to have the choice of sprogs in the beer garden or traffic. I got a room on the side of the road but it was ok for me for a brief snooze. Bed comfy, linen provided, a telly and a kettle with a mirror and a wardrobe. Not sure what else is needed 🤔

The bar is great. The welcome is admittedly a bit frosty from the locals, maybe I sat in someone’s favourite seat-sorry. I didn’t see the reserved sign 🙄

The staff were all very welcoming, and I sampled the Jolly Sailor milk stout brewed onsite at the microbrewery which is owned alongside the hotel by the same people apparently. Absolutely delicious and a bit of a bargain at £2.80.

I’ll be leaving later without actually stopping the night but for a kip it’s fine, and has free Wi-Fi apparently. If you like plush, you might need to move along, but if you’re realist then it’s fine and functional. Thanks to all who made me so welcome. Aren’t there some moaning minnies in the world 🙄

Looking at other reviews here I was a little hesitant on booking but for the price paid it was only for one night and you make do with what you have.  

With a lot of places there is generally always room for some improvement and a little lick of paint would not go amiss in the room we were in but this does not detract from the night we stayed.  The bed however was not good,  The metal struts underneath were not supporting the mattress at all as they were all bent so you ended up going into the middle of the bed.  We did use the Tv in the room but the screen had an issue down one side with red lines and it kept flicking with red dots.  If we were staying longer then it might have been a bigger issue with the kids.

The reception we had on arrival was very good and we were shown to our room and where we could get our breakfast from in the morning, this was just a small room with a fridge, microwave, toaster and dishwasher for your empty plates.  The only downside here was the lack of cutlery and any sort of cloths for any spillages.

With the little niggles that we came across we would stay again if the need ever arose but again only very short term.

Not much to expect

Stayed here for 1 night only and i woke during the night and there was a rat in the bed after speaking to the staff they changed me rooms which again there was a rat in the room the bed smelt like urine and the sheets where discoloured. The toilet was unclean and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for some time. 
Will never return and will be putting this out there for everyone too see.

DISGUSTING RAT INFESTED

Booked 2 work lads in these rooms both supposed to have private bathroom. One had a shower the other shared bathroom. They have sent pictures of the rooms and didnt stay. Do Not book this hotel false advertising and you really will be disappointed. No one should be sharing bathrooms in times of covid

Not what we paid for

Thank goodness we had only booked for one night.  The room was gloomy with a damp smell and in total need of decoration and all furniture condemned to the skip!
The continental breakfast was help yourself from a cramped “ cupboard “at the top of the stairs offering sugary cereal cheap white bread and long life milk. No butter for toast and nobody around to ask.  No dining area eat in your room. 
Called a hotel but no food available at any other times. 
The en-suite was not finished, toilet seat hanging off and only a trickle of water from the shower.  Towels were aged and stained.  
Can really think of no positives except maybe a free car park but ah finding a space was another matter!  
Would I recommend NO ... 

Would NOT Recommend 

Find somewhere else even if you have to spend more. Wouldn't stay again even if it was free. Damp musty smelling room, heard fighting, shouting and swearing from pub below. Breakfast, toast cereal and orange juice in a shared kitchenette to help yourself. If you have no standards then fine otherwise avoid. Totally regretted staying and wouldn't go again if it was free.

Your worst nightmare comes true when you visit this dump! You know you have made a mistake as soon as you arrive. The room , the bed, the furniture and the so called breakfast what a joke this place is. If i had had more time i would have driven elswhere !

Stayed for one night as it was close to the Transpenine Trail. It wasn’t overly clean, the bathroom door didn’t stay shut or lock, the bathroom ceiling light didn’t work and was missing the cover. The wall light in the bathroom also didn’t work so we were stuck in the dark. At 840 live entertainment started, no one had prewarned us, it went on to 11 - so loud the room floor shook.

Our room was on the road side and the old windows didn’t shut properly meaning the traffic noise was loud.

The owner was rude, no staff were around to check out. We were told breakfast was included - this was a cupboard you could make your own toast in!

We tried to change hotels at 930pm but everywhere else was full.

On the bright side the bed was comfortable.
