Did the Three Peaks on the 26th July and stopped here on the 26th and 27th. 
Upon turning up The Landlord Freddy was very friendly polite and Courteous to us. He couldn’t do enough to help us. We had Tea that evening and both had Lasagne, Salad and chips… the portions were massive and my wif struggled to eat hers… we then retired to bed before doing the Three peaks  the following day and due to an early start, we were given a breakfast pot that was a nice touch … the beds were exceptionally comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. 
We started at 6:30 next morning and due to weather we finished and got back to the pub about 8:30 that evening… they normally stop serving food @ about 8:00, however Freddy and Sandra watched out for us and made an exception going out of their way to assist and feeding us… this food was also very nice..
We yet again had an early night to get up for a nice hot bath (water red hot) which was very welcoming after 24 1/2 miles   
We then had our continental breakfast this morning (Friday ) which was more than adequate … prior to leaving. 
All in all a wonderful experience with excellent and thoughtful hosts at a reasonable  price   
I would certainly recommend this Hotel to anyone and return back again.

Excellent Hists

Visited The Crown last night for our evening meal whilst staying in Horton in Ribblesdale .Having read several reviews we weren't sure what to expect. So glad we took a leap of faith ..the food was excellent, wholesome home cooking and plentiful, the staff were very friendly, the barman had a great sense of humour and was eager to please. A fabulous country pub with a lovely atmosphere. We had a great night and we weren't alone, the pub was packed. Book if you don't want to be disappointed. Thank you to all at The Crown!!

Fabulous County Pub!

Came across the crown after a cold day in the snow in North Yorkshire. Was welcomed kindly, served quickly and had a lovely pie & chips served to us. He even put the Tv out for my husband so he could catch up on the football. Good service and good food.

It's not super modern, but that's not what we were there for. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. Dinner was absolutely delicious and came quick!  They also poured a lovely pint of Guinness. Would definitely recommend for a stay, especially if you're doing the 3 peaks!

We had a great visit!

We arrived after walking 15 miles from Dent to a warm welcome from the owner , we were shown to a clean, spacious room with a lovely big bathroom. Plenty of hot water, we had a tasty meal downstairs, portions were big. My husband said the beer was great( he’s a beer snob).
Very comfortable beds, good nights sleep, the breakfast in the morning was prompt and plentiful which set us up for our next walk into Hawes.
We would not hesitate in recommending The Crown Hotel we had a lovely stay.

Lovely 1 night stay

popped in for a drink after work. yes, people do actually live in Horton and frequent the local pub.
such a relief not to have piped music. thankfully i dont really know who ed shearan is, so it wouldnt impact on me anyway. good to have a short menu with everything made on the premises. if youve been out walking its a good place to re charge batteries.
or if you are like me, permanently questing for old peculier, let the magic begin

Just popped in the once as we were staying further down in the village. The Portuguese guy behind the bar was very polite, talkative and kept a great pint of Guinness in fact ended off having 4. Not the cheapest but what do you expect in a village pub. There was a lot of signs on doors and walls about do’s and don’ts . But a great pint of Guinness.

As the only place open on a Wednesday we came here to eat dinner after spending a day hiking a section of the Pennine Way.

What we loved:
- the pub opened at 5pm and you could order food from 6pm- 8pm
- there was plenty of seating inside and outside (most people sat outside as it was a sunny day)
- they had clean toilets with plenty of soap and hand towels
- the beer was tasty and you could pay by card
- the food was tasty and fresh and they had a huge range of delicious sounding options on the menu
- there was clear signage throughout the pub
- the friendly patrons within the pub that we spoke to

Things to be aware of:
- there are a lot of signs handwritten/typed throughout the pub telling you the rules of the establishment- it can feel a little bit daunting
- it is clear that some hikers/patrons have not been particularly kind/respectful which has led to a rather uncomfortable and awkward feeling within the pub- as some reviewers have written previously you feel like you're an inconvenience when ordering drinks/food
- dogs are allowed outside not inside, there are signs provided about this
- there were bathmats and plastic bags put on the chairs as they were prepared for walkers arriving wet- completely understandable


An awkward experience but we thoroughly enjoyed the food

Wasn’t the best of stays. 
When checking in we didn’t feel very welcomed, 
No signal and no WiFi. 
I did ask if there was WiFi to be bluntly told.. NO! 
Evening meal was lovely altho very basic breakfast. 

Room was cold when we arrived we went to bed shivering. Bed was comfy altho cold. We was told  had we asked we would have been given a heater as the heating isn’t on 24/7.
It doesn’t need to be on 24/7 but on longer than 1 hour is needed. 
Mould on the inner wardrobe was an absolute shock. And was just told this  is nothing they can’t do about it as it’s an old building so they will now clean it weekly. 
Floor uneven, again told it’s because it’s an old building and can’t do anything. About it. 
Very dated room. 
Certainly not worth £120 a night!

Won’t be returning

We arrived to meet some friends and we were not allowed to drink inside even though it was raining, because we were only allowed 1 1/2 hours once we sat at the table, it wasn’t that busy. The landlord stood in front of the door to prevent entry. Food was OK but limited menu. Barman was friendly though. They really need to learn some customer service rather than rules that only suit them. They put us all off going the next night as after a battle with the 3 Peaks, we didn’t want a battle with our evening!
