Friendly staff. Clean and looked lovely for Christmas. It is a traditional B&B. An old building with history and imperfections you would expect. The bathroom looked recently refurbished. Parking at the back and garden at the front. Good value for money.

Another fine stay with Anna and John at their accommodation just outside central Shanklin. A warm welcome, attractive surroundings and a fine breakfast as part of a hastle free weekend. I am looking forward to returning to Somerton Lodge again soon. 

A lovely stay. 

This is a very nice hotel in a great location in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. Car park access is a little narrow but fine for anything but a large van. Breakfast was very nice, freshly cooked and well served. The people there are very nice and friendly.
The room was adequate for our needs, ok not the most luxurious but ok for us. There are very comfortable lounges one has a large screen tv if wanted. It has an alcohol free bar which was fine for us.
All in all a nice hotel to stay in.

Very nice hotel

I stayed in a single room and it was absolutely beautiful, plenty of space, comfy bed, high powered shower and black out blinds. There is nothing at all that I could pick fault with if I tried. I noticed that The wifi is a really strong signal if that’s something that’s important to you. 
The hosts really make this place as special as it is, so friendly and make you feel so welcome. The breakfast is absolutely to die for and very good value for money. You order what you want the night before, this is to avoid food waste and when considering the huge issue with food waste in the hospitality industry I respect so much that they do this. Same with the towels, they encourage you to keep the towels on the rack if you don’t need them changed, now unless you’re the sort of person who uses a new towel every day at home I don’t think there’s any reason to expect a hotel to waste all that water and pollute waterways for you to have that treat while you’re away. I stayed for 5 nights and was nothing but thrilled the whole time. They made me feel at home while I was away from home on my own and I will forever be grateful for hosts like this. Even down to checking where I was going walking on a particularly rainy day and letting me know I could call them if I get stuck, they go above and beyond and I can’t wait to come back

Home away from home

Really friendly hospitable hosts.  Hotel is spotlessly clean, free parking,  great breakfast served to your table.  Would recommend for a relaxing peaceful break and good location to tour the island.

What a gem ! 

Lovely stay Ann & John made us feel very welcome, spotlessly clean nice & quiet. Situated 10 min walk from centre of Shanklin. Breakfast was top class, tasty & plenty of it. A soft drinks bar with honesty box, room & on suite on the small side but would definitely return. 

Super place

Lovely quiet hotel, clean and beautifully decorated, really welcoming owners. A pleasant stay. We have family nearby so will be visiting again and will hopefully use the same hotel. Please ignore the 1 star review, it’s really not deserved!

Quiet, clean, comfortable, friendly

I was visiting the Isle of Wight for a family funeral and needed a peaceful place to stay, Somerton Lodge proved to be the perfect venue.
My room was lovely and clean, warm, well appointed and with a very comfortable bed. Well, I say "comfortable" but actually I slept so well, I can only think that it must have been!
Breakfast was individually cooked to my liking and served in a well laid out restaurant, along with copious amounts of coffee.
I was provided with a key to the back door which lead onto the large car park and the hotel is quite close to Shanklin, which suited me perfectly.
Anne and John work hard to make sure that guests enjoy their stay and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a peaceful venue. It really is excellent value for money.

What a gem of a find!

We stayed here for 3 nights while exploring the Isle of Wight.  It is in a suburban area about 5-10 minutes walk to restaurants on High Street.   Parking is free.  The website pictures of the garden and rooms are flattering.  Our room (No 1) was small and basic but comfortable and quiet.  The breakfast was very good and we were able to be served early on the last morning.  The staff were helpful.  Value for money was reasonable.
