Having stayed at Ryedale previously, we had no hesitation in booking in again, knowing we would get VIP treatment. John and Hayley are perfect hosts, you not feeling like a guest but like part of the family. As for the breakfasts, you will be spoilt for choice. John has a secret way of cooking his delicious mushrooms!!!  Perfect location within a few minutes walk from Shanklin railway station, as well as bus stops on the doorstep enabling you to explore the island. Thank you yet again John and Hayley for your hospitality.

Home from home. 

My wife and our two young girls visited in August'23.  The room was a great family room.  The girls had their own bunk beds in an adjacent room so they could have their own space (and us ours!). John and Hayley made us feel so welcome at breakfast.  There is a great selection available and wonderful service.  The girls loved the variety and chatting with our hosts.  Little touches like chocolate eggs replenished daily just added to a great stay.  We'd definitely come back - family rooms are often tricky to get right but this was perfect.

Wonderful family atmosphere

A totally satisfying stay… John and Hayley are fantastic hosts, brilliant breakfast to cater for all tastes and immaculate rooms. Ideally placed for quick walks to the esplanade and the high street. Guides to all the recommended sights and sounds along with the best restaurants presented in the rooms, Hayley also engaged with us while serving breakfast and gave us recommendations. The Ryedale also offers up the dining area for use at night if you fancy eating in. They have thought of everything!

The best guest house in Shanklin, would only stay elsewhere if I couldn’t get a booking here. Amazing.

What a thoroughly lovely place. The couple running this b&b could not be more welcoming, the room is tastefully decorated and very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. Thank you for helping us enjoy our first trip to the Isle of Wight. I've stayed in a lot of b&b over the years and this is definitely one I would recommend

This part is easy as there is nothing negative  to say.
John & Hayley were excellent. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was 10/10. Position wea great for walking around the area. Parking was across the road and was kindly organised by the owners.

Excellent in every way.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Ryedale and am still thinking about it fondly months after my visit in May. The B&B is conveniently located, the room was extremely comfortable, beautiful and cosy, and I was very happy to sleep there. I asked the hosts for their most “girly” room because I really loved the way they decorated it, and they granted my wish! The decoration and paintings in the B&B are beautiful, which adds to the entire experience. The hosts were generous and kind, and were able to see when I was up for chatting and when I would prefer to remain quiet, so they were really thoughtful about it. Also, the breakfast was DELICIOUS! I had to leave super early on the last morning, and they prepared me a breakfast to go, which was extremely nice of them! The Ryedale was one of those B&Bs which is such a happy place… when I daydream, I often go back there and on hikes on the Isle of Wight. I’d love to go back at some point! If I lived in the UK or in Europe, I’d definitely make it a yearly destination. Thank you for your hospitality!

Comfortable, beautiful and happy place, with a great breakfast and kind hosts

This was the nicest b&b I have ever stayed at.
Nothing to much trouble.the friendliness  from John an hayley and staff was heart warming.
The food was great the selection was fantastic. There cooked breakfast was enjoyable especially the cooked sausage. Proper butcher's meat.
The next time I visit the Isle of Wight I will definitely be booking at ryedale b&b.

Great b&b

Coming to the end of a week+ stay at the Ryedale. Not only is the b&b very conveniently located, super clean & decorated tastefully but the welcome couldn't be warmer. Every little detail has been thought of to make your stay comfortable & easy. The breakfast is excellent with a great choice & buffet. I now understand why friends keep coming back.

Perfect b&b for an IoW escape

My friend and I booked 2 nights at the Ryedale to have a central base to explore the island.  From the moment we arrived we had a warm welcome and where made to feel very much at home.  We had a twin room on the first floor and the attention to detail in the room was second to none even down to the hangers matching the room decor.  The beds where comfy, the shower powerful and there was even mini egg by the kettle.  We weren't in the room much, just to sleep, but it was comfortable and plenty of room for two people sharing. Breakfast is served from 8.15 in the dining room and you put your order in the night before.  We went from the full Engiish both days and it was yummy.  There is also juice, fresh fruit and cereal on offer to. The whole house is clean and welcoming. I think there are 7 rooms in total.  If you have a car parking is provided in the station carpark at the top of the hill a two minute walk from the b and b.  All in all we had a smashing stay at the Ryedale and I would highly recommend.

What a warm welcome and a fantastic stay

Our stay at Ryedale was faultless, from the moment we arrived every single detail had been thought of and addressed. 
We stayed in the family room, it was spotless and was serviced daily! There is an en-suite shower and toilet which is clean and provides a small box of sanitary products (cotton buds, cotton wool etc) along with towels and body wash. 
The bedroom was spacious, again it has everything you need for a short trip away. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate… even 2 small jars of mini eggs which were replenished daily. Adjoining to the room was a child’s bedroom with a set of bunk beds, a bedside table and some toys under the bed to keep the kids occupied for short periods. 
Both rooms had a TV in them which we found useful in the evenings after putting the kids to bed. 
As the room is located at the front of the house it can be quite noisy with the bus stopping outside but the windows do keep majority of the noise out and our sleep wasn’t disturbed. There is a fan if needed once the windows are shut. 
A good selection of information is left in your room to assist you with your stay on the Island including restaurant suggestions and things to do. 
Breakfast is served between 8.15-9 and has an excellent selection of cooked items, cereals, toast and fresh fruit salads. The dining room can also be used for takeaways in the evening and the fridge in there is always stocked with cold water. The location was perfect for us, you are just out the way of the promenade so can benefit from the local shops and takeaways which are a bit quieter. We also made use of the bike hire place around the corner in Lower Hyde. Parking was located at the train station - it’s a 3 minute walk from the B&B and again John and Hayley had organised this for us free of charge. 
Hayley and John are fabulous hosts, the B&B has a very homely feel and nothing was too much for them. They were very accommodating of our small children, even giving them a gift each on departure. Our girls felt at home at Ryedale, as did we and we will be back.
