My husbands watch was stolen by the housekeeping staff, I have still been trying to get this resolved and no one ever did anything about it, I would avoid this hotel although it looks nice, it’s not rooms smell stale. And the only good thing was the breakfast but not at the price of an expensive watch!

Poor service and hospitality staff

We stayed at the shanklin hotel for 5 days over Christmas with Alfa Travel, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, we had a good room very clean and nice and warm, infact the hotel was very clean.  They had really gone to town with the Christmas decorations giving it a good atmosphere, the food was very good and the entertainment was brilliant, the bar prices were very reasonable too, our coach driver Jamie was very good and jovial I would certainly go back here again.

Lovely Hotel

Rooms were a good size with excellent views but were freezing cold - as were all public areas in the hotel. 
obviously a common complaint as reception offered us a plug in portable radiator which we accepted!
New Years eve entertainment was excellent although we'd suggest giving up on the optional fancy dress party on new year's day as only about 6 people dressed up - it's a bit old hat now.
We were self drive and definitely felt like second class  citizens- to the point that on 2 nights out of 3 desserts we'd ordered had ran out!
people we chatted to come back year after year- we won't be amongst them.


Cold New Year Break

Fabulous hotel. Brilliant staff, lovely and attentive. Rooms were dated but clean. Lovely location. Only down side was size of food portions, child sized. Food was very tasty well cooked. I understand they cater for a lot of elderly but not everyone has a small appetite. 

Lovely hotel 

Beautiful Hotel, very friendly & helpful staff, including the manager.
We went for a turkey & tinsel weekend, so hotel was pretty full. We had a problem with the heating & hot water in our room, unfortunately it seemed to be just one small area of the hotel with this problem. The rest of the rooms where people from our group had lovely warm rooms. The staff were very helpful giving us a plug in radiator & extra blanket. The water was more difficult as they were waiting for an engineer. I found that I could only get a hot shower at approximately 6am.
Some of the food was really nice, but a couple of times it wasn't as good as it should have been. 
Would love to give a better review than average but with the problems this time I couldn't. Hopefully they can get the problems sorted out soon.


Turkey & Tinsel weekend

We stayed here recently for a weekend event. The hotel manager and his staff went above and beyond to ensure that everything was in place for the event. All of the rooms were clean and comfortable, although we were sometimes a little too warm! 
The bar area is bright and with views to die for. The bar staff were very friendly and the drink prices were very reasonable.
The Starlite was used for meals and entertainment in the evenings. For this, it is well suited. Again, expansive views to the sea and the amusement of visiting seagulls peering through the windows!
Serving staff were efficient and the food was much more than adequate. We had no complaints from our guests and the restaurant accommodated our seating requests without any problem. 
The location is great and there is easy access to the beach along a footpath, however the steps were closed on this visit so we needed to walk a little further, but that just meant longer views from the top of the cliff so not really a problem.
Parking is abundant and even though we had a lot of cars, we were able to shuffle around to ensure that everyone got a space.
We didn't visit the pool on this occasion and it's a shame that the jacuzzi is no longer there, but this is an excellent additional feature that the other guests did have opportunity to enjoy.
Really nothing negative to say. A great value hotel with staff who are second to none.

Friendly, comfortable, reasonable and with a great view!

What is not to like, food usual Alfa fare. Waiting staff were excellent, in all every staff member i had a interaction with was a pleasant experience, i had a single room which was adequate for needs with a large shower

Winter getaway

Hotel is now a little tired. 
Our shower not good - carpet in bedroom rather stained and needs to be replaced. 
But these are things we can live with - the price of the stay is fair and the staff are excellent. 
Food prices very fair and nice cooked full English breakfast. 
It’s definitely not 5 star but it doesn’t claim to be.

Fair price for a short stay - good service with friendly staff

We stayed here for the New Year with Alpha for the second year in a row, and had a great sea view room which we found very comfortable, we found the staff here very friendly,  and very good entertainment, plenty of good food, including a very large buffet laid on at midnight on New Years Eve. 
Our coach driver Lizzy was one of the best drivers we have encountered on our coach tours, she was exceptional. we would also like to thank our waitress Charlotte for her services at breakfast and dinner.
This hotel is a short walk into Shanklin Old Village with all of it's Thatched Pubs etc,  Shanklin Chine, and the Cliff Lift when open.  
All in all another great break with Alpha

Excellent New Year Break

I stayed in this Hotel for New Year with Alfa travel , it is a beautiful Hotel , the staff are all so friendly and helpful. The food was very good and plenty of it  ( need to go on a diet now ) Went in the swimming pool which is kept very clean and it’s a nice size pool , I will definitely be going back to this Hotel and I will definitely recommend it . Also the rooms are very nice and kept love and clean .
