We booked for Easter. My parents were over in the UK from NZ and as a large group (16 people) we needed a hotel on the IOW.
Salma was fantastic and made booking really easy. She sorted the ferry bookings for 6 cars, making a change when we had to change our car.
We arrived and were met and dealt with swiftly. Tough when everyone arrives at once!
Our rooms were lovely. Not 5 star but that’s not what we booked or paid for. Some of the reviews on here are very unfair.
We had breakfast each morning and it was lovely. A member of our group cannot eat gluten, she was catered for without any concern.
Overall we had a lovely stay. Great value for
Money, good location and comfortable beds!
I would definitely recommend Villa Mentone to others.

Lovely stay in great location

As a family of four with a daughter in a wheelchair, it’s super hard to find big enough family rooms or indeed one room for four adults and one child (daughter 18) in short notice. We stayed in the Empire State room and it had plenty of space for us. The bath was a treat and the balcony with sea views was lovely!

There is definitely a theme to the hotel which I found quite cute. 

I always filter 4* and above but my husband found this hotel and convinced me to give it a try especially as we were finding it difficult to get a booking for one room rather than two. I’m happy that he did. 

The host is lovely and very accommodating. The staff are friendly. There are reasons why this is a 3* but I was surprised at how lovely the bathroom was, how comfortable the beds were and a decent size tv etc. 

Overall very happy with our stay.

Lovely family room!

It's unfortunate that I have to write a bad review for this hotel but their photos do not show a true reflection of all the hotel.  The room we had was small. We thought a small double meant the room size but it also meant the bed size. A very small double bed.  I could hardly turn in the bed without knocking into my partner. I didn't get a good night's sleep for the 3 night stay.  The bathroom had the smallest shower I've ever seen.  Our view was of the car park. No sound proofing between floors so whilst trying to sleep all I could hear were the people staying above us constantly walking around on squeaky floorboard and hearing the phone constantly vibrate. The hotel really needs updating, it's rough around the edges. Breakfast at first looked great then day 2 you realise that it's actually cheap quality food.  Positives - I enjoyed listening to the pianist at breakfast.  The owner/manager was very welcoming and nice to us.  Its just unfortunate that the photos don't actually show a true reflection.  

Disappointingly small room and bed. 

Excellent view, executive family room was wow. Lovely terrace, excellent breakfast.
Great staff! Any issues was dealt with swiftly. 
We booked 6 rooms, all were comfortable. Very clean.

Fantastic

Perfect central location . We booked the sea view room . The view is stunning . The room is very small but it’s ok for the 4 days we stayed It’s clean with a shower over the bath  . We really enjoyed our stay here and Selma and staff are all really nice . The breakfast is help your self and plenty to choose from .

Happy bright hotel 

We only stopped for a drink on their terrace but the views, space and drinks options were amazing. 
I was with my son and we had the most wonderful time being in that stunning corner before visiting other spots. I’d love to come back next summer and stay in one of the sea view balcony rooms. 
The wonderful girl working there advised on her favourite rooms and I have to say, she is a credit to the establishment; Handling bar, reception and other enquiries calmly, warmly and professionally - even when busy. 

Look forward to staying here in the summer next year, hopefully. Look at how wonderful it is 😍

We had an amazing stay here, the hotel was clean, the views were stunning, staff were so friendly, and Salma the owner, made us feel at home. 13 of us stayed at this hotel, and our rooms included the penthouse, which sleeps 4, my girls loved having their connecting rooms.. We also had the Empire State room with the balcony, plenty of space for 4/5 people.. Good for kids as they enjoyed playing in the balcony area and the adults could sit and enjoy the view of the sea... We loved breakfast time, there was plenty of food, never had to wait around, staff were always so accommodating, and would offer us vegetarian sausages, plenty of seating looking out to the sea.. Really felt like we were abroad. Would definitely go back! 

Home from home

Rudest so called manager we have ever dealt with.  Tried to cancel as we both got COVID but absolutely no help.  Even suggesting that we come anyway so shows how COVID secure this place is.  As we will be moving to the Island this year we will warn all of our friends.  Judging by the other reviews we probably had a lucky escape as the rooms are supposedly smelly and damp.

Don’t try and cancel even if you are unwell

I would like to say a " BIG THANKYOU " to Selma and the staff at Villa Mentone for a wonderful three day break, we stayed last weekend with our Daughter and her family for my wifes birthday, our room was clean and had a great seaview, the bed was comfy the shower was good with plenty of power, breakfast was excellent its a buffet with plenty of choice the full english was hot and tasty, the hotel is situated on the cliff above Shanklin beach, if you don't fancy the walk down there's a council operated beach lift 500 yards down the road that brings you out on the promenade. 
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definately be back, nothing was too much trouble for Selma she was absolutely lovelly !!!  We asked if it was ok to have visitors to the hotel as we had family coming over to the island for my wifes special day  " The more the Merrier " was her reply, she even arranged for the pianist to play Happy Birthday at breakfast and brought out a candle lit cake for my wife while the whole room sang, i'm not sure which was hotter the candle or my wifes red face " Absoutley Priceless " !!! 
Thankyou Selma we will be back !!!!!
