Great Breakfast. Comfortable bed and a very room  Friendly staff . Great location for all of the tourists sites We had room had a sea view and very  close to the sea so would highly recommend a stay lots of parking spaces and would be happy to stay again.

I recently hosted my 60th birthday at The Gracellie and I have nothing but praise for the staff. Yes the rooms are fairly basic, but they are extremely clean, most are spacious, some have fantastic views - so if you want a room with a view it is worth paying that little bit extra for the view over Shanklin beach. Charlotte and her team went above and beyond to ensure my party went without a hitch. Rooms were ready for the guests that were staying over the weekend, breakfast was excellent and the food at the party was plentiful and very tasty - they were catering for 160 guests at the party. A BIG THANK YOU to Charlotte and the team for making my birthday so memorable.

Excellent Party Venue

I rated this a five out of 5 for my personal experience. I think, mainly because of the people I was with not particularly the hotel itself, but I had to give five stars because the staff of which there were only three in a huge hotel could not have tried any harder to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, the manager was literally trying to spin on her head to keep us happy when things wasn’t going her way. I.e. beer pumps not working, the chef that quit the morning before a Christmas dinner service. Etc. 
The managers partner came to the rescue and cooked us all Christmas dinner which was very nice. Once the live music had finished he became the DJ taking requests from everyone and making everyone enjoy themselves even more. The morning was a slight hiccup as the breakfast chef was nowhere to be seen, but again no panicking by the manager and again her partner came to the rescue after probably only managing four hours Sleep, cooking breakfast for 16 of us. I would say overall for the money it’s not a bad place to stay, but don’t expect the Ritz it’s just a comfortable short stay in my opinion but staffing is 2nd to none. I hope for the staff members it thrives in 2024 as the hard work should be noted by the owners.

Sunday lunch….frozen veg mixed all together served in a large dish, everything was tasteless… no attention yo detail what so ever… felt like an empty soulless building

My advice “ GOVE THIS HOTEL A MISS

We’ve just returned from a lovely stay with our young family.
The hotel is in a perfect location, close to the beach and a short walk into the town centre.
Our room was very clean and we had a lovely view of the sea.
Breakfast was included. We had a good selection of continental and hot food was freshly cooked on request.
The staff were also very friendly and made us feel welcome.
We would love to return in the summer so the kids can use the pool!

Great for families

The Hotel is in a good position in Shanklin but unfortunately that is the only good thing I can say.  My husband and I stayed for one night in September.  The front of the Hotel was very uninviting with a sign saying the kitchen was shut! The reception was uninviting. We were advised we were lucky someone was on reception as we arrived at 14.00 and check is not until 14.30. However the lady was friendly enough, but not at all professional. The room was the smallest room we have ever stayed in. Very dreary with wires hanging from TV and a very small shower room, everything very run down.  We checked out before 7 as although we had paid for breakfast we did not want to stay any longer. Unfortunately I left my personal pillow, complete with silk pillow case in the room which was very important for me as only one I can sleep well with. I telephoned and the receptionist retrieved the pillow and advised me she would post it to me.  I offered to pay postage but she assured me it was not a problem. Needless to say the pillow has not arrived and it was almost 4 weeks ago. I have telephoned the hotel about 12 times but they never answer the phone.  I have left a voice message but no reply and I have contacted them through their website but no response.  I cannot therefore recommend this hotel and would never stay again.

One night stay in Gracellie Hotel

Returned on Friday from a 3 night break. All staff from the date of booking until leaving were superb. A special mention and thank you to Laura who went above and beyond to accommodate and made an effort to have a chat at breakfast, not just with us but with other guests. The location is perfect just a short stroll to the beach, which offers a handful of restaurants, pubs, plenty of parking available, arcade, crazy golf, fish and chip shop. The location of hotel is also a great base for exploring other parts of the Island. Lots of restaurants in Shanklin old town nearby and pre-booked a taxi for dinner one night. Would recommend pre-booking a few hours before. 
The rooms and hotel were very clean, great sea views to wake up to in the morning in rooms 7 & 28. Breakfast was cooked fresh and was the right amount, good variety of options available. All staff a very pleasant, a great hardworking team who made our holiday a relaxing and a memorable one for us all, just what we needed perfect holiday by the sea. Thank you to all and will be visiting again, will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Lovely Hotel & Staff/Great Location

Stayed here for a weekend early August with friends and had a fabulous stay. Staff were very welcoming and catered to our every need, bedrooms were clean and breakfast was excellent (thanks Kai). Would definitely stay again as location was perfect.

Fabulous weekend

We decided to book the Gracellie for our little 30th Anniversary getaway after seeing it on The Hotel Inspector. Although there wasn’t anyone in the lovely, light airy reception when we arrived, Laura appeared very quickly and checked us into our sea view room. The room was clean and tidy with everything you could need. The bed was very comfortable and we slept much better than we normally do when not at home. The sea view was lovely, perfect for a few sunrise photos the next morning. The resident seagulls, Steve, Glenda and their chick (who we called Charlie) were frequent visitors outside our window.
Breakfast was self serve cereals, juice and toast with hot drinks and cooked breakfast  from the staff/kitchen. The cooked breakfast was excellent, definitely on par with our local products in Devon.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Charlotte and Laura,. We had some lovely conversations with them in the bar in the evening and really felt welcome. As in the title, we do feel that we made friends during our stay.
We know, from conversations, that there is still work ongoing and, once everything has been completed, we will certainly be looking to return next season.

Leaving as friends couldn’t be more true

Friendly welcome in a beautiful location. We popped in for a quick visit while exploring this side of the Isle of Wight. The clifftop location of Gracellie is one of the best. We sat on the terrace with wide open sea views and received great hospitality. The Mermaid gin is to be recommended too!
