Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a deal for Tramlines weekend. I was put in a room with 5 other girls all of which were very friendly. One thing I have to say is that there needs to be a strict policy about outsiders as one girl snuck her boyfriend in both nights and the lad was very disrespectful of others who actually paid to sleep here.  I know this wasn't really the owner's fault, but something needs to be put in place as it stopped us from sleeping.  

Tramlines Stay

Let's start with some positives. The hostel is in a good location close to the M1. The hostel interior is quite clean overall and no concerns there. However this is where it ends.

First of all, according to our booking and TripAdvisor there is free breakfast but this was not provided at all. The WiFi barely worked and only at extremes of day as there are so many people on it. They did not provide towels or cleaning reagents. The area the hostel is in is not great and quite deprived. We booked a twin room in advance but on arrival we were told there were none available so we had two bunk beds instead (we did have the room to ourselves which was fair enough). And finally the attitude of the owner towards us from beginning to end was less than friendly. 

It got a point when we wondered if all the high ratings came from the owner and jus family members! 

Not what we expected for a highly rated hostel

After having been encouraged by reviews online, we stopped by hoping to stay for the night. We rang the doorbell multiple times, knocked on the door, but no answer. We had to ring the hostel for them to let us in. The manager must not have been there because the woman that we spoke to had no idea what was going on and was on the phone talking to someone who would know what to do. She asked us at least 3 times if we had a booking (yes, we did. We had phoned the hostel just a few weeks ago to reserve two beds), and she was aggressive in her tone with us. The place was loud and unwelcoming. Ultimately, we decided to go to a budget hotel in the city centre.

Disappointing

Parked outside with no problem. 

Obliging chap showed me my room. 

Room was very basic but clean and perfectly comfortable and for low price charged it was fine. 

Loos and showers were plentiful but shared with other rooms. 

There was a kitchen for those that needed it. 

Would I return? Yes if I was looking for a stop over.

Quick overnight while attending a show at the arena

Stayed for 3 nights. The place seems to be a house converted into a hostel, situated in a residential area. Fortunately, there’s large signs saying “Quick Stop”, otherwise it’d been difficult to find. Also had a bit of trouble getting there as I took the tram and walked, then discovered the area to be uphill. Definitely take a taxi or get the 35/38 bus from Sheffield Interchange, both of which stop a couple of streets away.

The hostel has a mixture dorms and private single rooms. Can’t comment on the dorms, but the room, shared toilets, showers and kitchen were very clean. Spotless by hostel standards even. My room had a TV, wardrobe and nice clean comfortable bed.  Also worth mentioning is that the kitchen has plenty of cutlery, plates, cups (for free tea and coffee) and a microwave. I think even cooking is possible if you had the mind to do it.

Location wise, it’s not very central. It’s a good 20 min walk to the nearest tram stop. Fortunately, there is also a bus stop opposite the guest house which goes to the city centre or stops 2 minutes walk away to the city centre/Meadowhill Interchange .The hostel is also close to a few takeaways, pubs and mini markets. 

Overall, good value for money and would recommend.
