We had a lovely stay at the Haughmond thanks to the manager Mel who went out of her way to organise the rooms so we could have an extra bed in our room for our daughter. The room was lovely and peaceful, very clean and decorated to a high standard. The food was excellent both at breakfast and for our evening meal and the bar was stocked with local ale on tap. The Haughmond is in a lovely countryside location hosted by a wonderful team of people! Thoroughly recommend. Thanks Mel from Tom, Sarah and Katie x

A welcoming stay at the Haughmond 

Set within a beautiful countryside location, this establishment is the perfect place to dine and stay.  A warm welcome upon our arrival.  We stayed in the Red Room which was stunning! The food (dinner & breakfast) was exceptional and the service from The Haughmond team was second to none.  Highly recommend.

Perfect in every way!

We stayed in the main building this time, having been in a dog friendly room last year and this was for us a totally different experience. Good sized room with a lovely view over the hills in the distance, even a fan to cool us down on arrival (there was some in early July!) The breakfast and the restaurant did not disappoint. One of our favourites.

All things catered for

Upon arrival we were greeted by manager Melissa who was welcoming and professional. Everything about the Haughmond is of the best quality and the staff are fantastic. Our room was well appointed and the food, we had dinner and breakfast, was superb. A real treat and we will be returning soon.

Fantastic Food

Simply stunning yet again. The service is superb, the ambiance is perfect and the food is divine. Stunningly beautiful balance, textures and flavours. A real must visit as it is different class food wise.  The cauliflower with Israeli couscous - un believable and the sole for main - just perfect.

Stayed here a few times and continue to be impressed with the offering. The Red Room was very spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed the a la carte menu ( I recommend the sole) and decent wine choice, following drinks in the garden. Breakfast also excellent. Staff turnover seems low implying a well-managed establishment

We stayed for three nights at the Haughmond in the Red Room, which has great views across fields, leading to wooded hills in the distance. The room is large and has comfortable chairs where you can sit and take in the view through the enormous window.  The bed is huge and the mattress extremely comfortable - we slept well every night. 

There are some thoughtful extras every day (freshly made biscuits, fresh water). The en suite bathroom is modern, well laid out and comes with a large bath.

Breakfast comes with a good range of options from porridge through to a Full English, with a range of omelettes, eggs bennedict and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. A minor criticism here is what seems to be heavy use of a microwave on some items leading to mouth scarring temperatures (and, if you’re going to offer black pudding, make it quality and cook it properly). Those minor issues aside, the breakfasts here are every bit as good as you would expect from a highly rated restaurant - and the inclusion of a ‘starter board’ every morning (including a pastel de nata alongside the best granola I’ve ever tasted)  is frankly inspired!

The downstairs lounge area and gardens are relaxed and offer beautiful spaces to spend time and there are a range of local walks (including the Shropshire Way and Severn Way), as well as a range of footpaths - walking to Shrewsbury via Haughmond Hill is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

I’d recommend and definitely hope to return.


A superb place to stay

Tuesday night in Feb can be dreary  and leave you short for choice.  We tried the Haughmond now they have reverted to a sensible menu (thanks Haughmond)  Having said that it is a very short menu, usually a good sign in my mind, no chest freezers full option 50 defrost options!   Meet and great very nice, table was good, service was good (very good in fact, well drilled young team and added to the enjoyment).  Nice bread served at the table, starters were very tasty, you can view the short menu to see what these were, mains were, well once was devoured and other I ate but had a real issue with the texture of the Gnocchi - just me others may love it but no, not a fan.  We swerved sweets as pretty stuffed but they gave us a small plate of Petit Fours which were very nice.  Some very nice touches as well, we were celebrating a special occasion and the  team made it what is what, a lovely Tuesday night in Feb.  Very nice atmosphere as well and pretty good value (great value in fact!)  .  We will be back soon.....did  mention I did not like the Gnocchi !!

I don't normally write theese reviews but I just wanted to thank you all for the new menu.

The service was a very high standard , the staff, although busy kept our glasses full and were very informative about both the wine and the food.

As a business owner myself I understand how hard you must work to maintain such high standards. I highly recommend The Haughmand to any who wish to try. Hopefully see you all again soon.

What a fabulous night at the Haughmond the staff were friendly and we were welcomed with bubbles , spoilt with fine food from their special  tasting  menu with great wine to accompany the tasty dishes . It was the perfect way to celebrate & bring in the New Year with our lovely friends Looking forward to trying the new menu v soon . We will definitely be back in again.Highly recommend it.
