Had a Sunday lunch here on the pre booked roast menu with free sweet.
Started with poor drinks choices, my husband was not happy they had no real ales, I should have asked before I booked!
 My daughter ordered a Coke and was given a Pepsi max which was replaced with a real Coke when she returned it to the bar,
 We waited over an hour for food, when it arrived we were told we should have been told that by ordering the Lamb shank there would be a long wait. My lamb was delicious but the presentation could have been better and a Yorkshire pudding the size of a side plate did not look attractive. The roasted potatoes and veg was all over done and the other veg was shredded cabbage and beans.
Since we were getting free dessert we had the choice of 3. The brownie and ice cream was very good but again it was a long wait. The Eton mess my husband ordered was the worst he has ever had.
Two and a half hours for a meal was a bit excessive. We won’t be returning.

Poor service.

Stayed here on Friday and the rooms were great, clean, cozy and just what we needed. We used the bar on the Friday night and was lovely in there very warm and cozy and then a singer on at 7pm which was a good change had a great night and the drinks were very fairly priced!!

Hotel and bar great!

Been staying here a for a while for work purposes. The rooms have all the basic needs and cleaned every day. The foods very good (one of the reasons we came back) great breakfast!! Staff very friendly and helpful!! Lots of parking, one happy customer 👍🏻

Great value for £

Stayed here last Friday and the hotel and bar were brilliant, Myself my wife and young son stayed and it was just what we needed after a long journey we stumbled upon Hockley House purely by chance, after grabbing a bite to eat and a drink in the bar we were all extremely tired my wife suggested booking a room the receptionist and manager were both lovely and accommodated us even as such short notice. 

The room was clean and a great size even for the 3 of us, we will most definitely be staying again when we are next in the area.

Great End to the day

Visited with my wife Sunday afternoon as we love the to come for the Sunday lunch and one of the great desserts. The food was great as it always is and we didn’t have to wait too long for it to arrive. The atmosphere in the pub was great and the staff were really helpful and attentive. Will be back as always.

Enjoyable Sunday afternoon meal

I stayed one night with a friend after we had been to a wedding a few miles away. The walls are thin. You can hear everything!! We really didn't appreciate the performance from the couple in the next room. They definitely weren't playing Scrabble all night. 

The following morning we were shattered and I had a long drive home. When we first arrived and went to our room, the TV was on with a high volume and now we know why. To drown the noise from our neighbours! 

The breakfast was average. Based on this experience we won't be staying again. On departure the reception staff didn't ask if we had enjoyed our stay or not, my face probably said it all!

We paid for a larger bed which was lovely and comfortable Everything was spotlessly clean, The staff were very friendly, we had a cooked breakfast which was cooked to perfection and the staff were also friendly in the breakfast room We hope to return again very soon

There are so many things wrong with this place and so difficult to pick one to start. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and I can honestly say that the service was terrible. Our waitress wrote our order down and got it wrong. The manager came over in what could be described as 'attack mode'. I explained what happened and she went to the waitress who clearly got told off. The same waitress gave us attitude the rest of the meal. Towards the end the waitress and another member of staff we seen by myself talking and pointing at us which made us feel uncomfortable and we left the dining hall. I was very upset by the manner in which they conducted themselves. Some of our party got drinks afterwards and these were served in cracked glasses. When the staff were told they seemed to treat the glasses even rougher. In the morning there wasn't any resemblance of a continental breakfast to be seen. I don't eat a cooked breakfast so this meant I could only eat toast (there wasn't any), museli (there was none), croissants (there was none), etc etc. I had a cup of tea and half an apple. I asked the waitress could I get yoghurt and she said they don't do yoghurt, I said it was on the menu and she came over and said sorry she didn't know it was on the menu. Very poor attitude from staff, very poor breakfast choices even though they were on the menu. I would quite categorically say I would never ever stay in this hotel again!!!!

WORST PLACE I'VE EVER STAYED IN!!!

I stayed at Hockley House with my partner and his family. Our room was room 4 on the ground floor, the room felt spacious, but badly sound proofed as I could hear footfall from other guests. The main concern for me was the bathroom, which was poorly maintained and could do with a lot more TLC! 

There was black mould on the ceiling with  white paint flaking off. In addition the toilet was partially detached and when I flushed it, water came gushing out of the side. 

As it had been a long day, we decided to make use of the on sight pub.  The food was average and definitely wasn’t worth the total price it came to, the staff didn’t seem to take into account any adjustments to orders either, as my partner’s sister requested to omit tartar sauce from her order but was served the dish with it. 



Poorly maintained and subpar service 

We’ve just been for a meal at Hockley House, as a family of 4, living in Hockley Heath. 
We walked down for a change from the closer options to give it a try. 
When I entered the bar to get a drink, one of the lady staff serving announced to the bar “does anyone being served want any food cause chef doesn’t want to cook anything more?!”  
I got my drinks and went back to the family to choose what we wanted.  Then when I went back to order she came out again and said to the barman “don’t order any more food as it won’t be cooked!”  
I then placed my order in earshot and she stormed back into the kitchen talking about how ‘mental’ the chef was going to get. 
The food did eventually come after 50 minutes and the barman (who I think is the manager) did his best to smooth things over. 
We had an average meal in the end, but we won’t come back.
