Went in for lunch.
Was early, so decided to wait.
Service is appalling. Bought my son a drink, he said it tasted funny, it was out of date so i took it back.
I told the guy behind the bar and he said he'd pass the message on.
I never heard anything back so went back to the bar. I mentioned to the barlady about it, she said oh yeah. Must have been the only out of date bottle in the fridge.
She obviously had been informed yet made absolutely zero effort to rectify us at our table, or make an effort to replace it.
2 of the staff just stood outside the front door puffing fags and stinking the place up.
Paid for my 1 drink and we left.
Worst service I've ever seen.
Shambles probably isn't a strong enough word but I'd rather not be vile, although it deserves it.

I didn't stay at Marsden Inn but had food and drinks there on two occasions. The first occasion I had no complaints but the second occasion I ordered a steak and chicken sizzler. The chicken was dry and the steak was over cooked. At the time of ordering I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare. When I later complained to the staff member he said that because it was on a sizzling platter it would continue cooking after being served. I was not advised of this when I ordered. Had I been told this I would have ordered something else. The plate was also swimming in oil!! Not a nice meal at all. No apology offered by the staff member. Probably won't be eating there again!!

Food order complaint 

Lovely welcoming staff, room was clean and bed was comfortable. The room lacked water pressure so shower a disappointment. Breakfast not served until 9am so we did not sample as too late for us!! We left at 8am to find a staff member asleep at the top of the stairs and looked so cosy and comfortable we left them there and let ourselves out of the back door!! Would stay again as was very friendly and convenient for us!!

Booked this hotel for a few days and what a great choice.  See below

Location.  It is located approx 200 yards from a fabulous beach, which was stunning.
Food.  Good choice menu not to big a choice but well priced and it was nicely presented.  
Breakfast.  Very very good  full English well worth going for it.
Room. Nice and clean, great comfortable bed

Issues. Generally could do with a make over,  and the water pressure in my room was very low.

MARSDEN INN HOTEL. Hidden gem in Marsden  South Shields

Went for lunch with family ordered my daughter some mashed potatoes and turnip with a Yorkshire pudding and veggie gravy as they don't do any other options for vegetarians charged 6.45 for this as a Sunday lunch is only 7.95 can't understand how they can charge so much for a bit veg won't be returning in a hurry

Visited on a saturday tea time, we have eaten here previously and its been ok..However this time was an absolute desaster..We asked at the bar on entering the pub if food was still being served, the young bar maid had no idea, then said i think it is, til 8pm..we went to the bar to order to be told, no lasagne, no beef fahitas, so tried again..My daughter ordered chicken kiev, we also ordered two curries, and chicken fahitas and two bowls of chips...We waited 50 minutes for the food  no one advised us of a delay..the chicken kiev came out and was notjing more than garlic puree spread on top of the chicken...chips were dry and not pleasant...we asked the barman to sort it, he said he was too busy and we would have to be quick, then scurried off....we then managed to get someone to sort it, sat awhile, the meal came out, my daughter asked to see the manager, and was told he was busy but said sorry....absolutely shocking, if a manager cannot come out to speak to disgruntled customers then thats not good enough...we certainly will not be back....

Not a good experience 

Unwelcoming staff not interested in the hotel rooms or the quests.
Dirty carpet in the room very run-down place in desperate need of a refurb.
Breakfast was pathetic as was the overall service. The restaurant needed a clean.
The only good thing was the location.

Basic

Hotel was lovely newly refurbished,But I don't like doors propped open with a fire extinguisher on a evening,there were no staff on a morning and this was at 8.45.I struggled to exit the building for a course I was on.Just luck that I found a door,it's a bit worrying when the number for the Hotel rings out of hours the number was engaged 3 times and the other number was for a member of staff that left 6 months ago.Sad that was not restaurant on Monday and Tuesday but they close at 4pm,so an evening meal wasn't a option.Lucky they allow you to order takeaway.Its 2 minutes to the beach and it's a lovely place to stay.But I think they should be staff on over night.

Beside the Sea.

Nice sized rooms, in an old Inn with a great full English breakfast which is well worth saving save for, and you will need to save space. There is a good size car park, and the room we had love views over the North Sea, where you can see the ship and fishing boat heading for the tyne

Nice option as somewhere to stay

Absolutely gutted to be writing this, but yesterday I went to the Marsden Inn for Christmas Dinner and it was literally the worst experience I’ve ever had!

I booked the table for 6 back in November, made sure our pre-order was in in time and paid for it all in full well before Christmas Day, and still we spent 3 HOURS waiting for 3 COURSES!

So our table was booked for 3pm, we arrived at 2.45 and had to wait until 3.10 to be seated and the table was not ready

When we were seated there was two odd tables pushed together with a table runner on each and a knife and fork each and single salt and pepper, that’s it! No desert spoons, no cutlery for the main course, no Christmas crackers, Nothing else!

It then took until 4.05pm for the starters to be brought out! Thats even after I had been out to reception at 3.35pm to ask where they were! 

When the starters were finished they were taken away and it then took until 5pm for the main courses to be brought out. Again my daughter had to ask for a Christmas cracker!

I had to ask for cutlery to be brought through for the main course as the food was there with nothing to eat it with!

And honestly the food itself was awful!

The mashed potato was full of lumps, the turnip just tasted like pepper so was inedible, the roast potatoes were greasy, there wasn’t even a Yorkshire pudding on the plate!

We had to ask for sauces and gravy to be brought through and they brought a tiny pot of cranberry and apple sauce and one small gravy boat between 6 people!

It then took another 30 minutes to wait for the deserts to be brought out! And 2 of the desserts were wrong and had to be taken back twice as they brought Christmas pudding with brandy sauce instead of cream TWICE.

Again we had to ask for cutlery and we were given soup spoons to eat with.

Honestly if I could have left and gone home and made a Christmas Dinner myself I would have, but because I had booked well in advance I had not bought a single item of shopping to do so!

I paid £145.70 and they gave me £50 back! An absolute joke! Honestly I could have cried😰😰

Also, forgot to mention I had phoned the Marsden Inn on Christmas Eve to confirm and they even advised that I could add another person onto the table if I gave there order straight away! Good job I didn’t as we would’ve had to wait even longer!

And the corner we were sat in was dark as anything and we had to ask twice just to have the lights turned on🤯
