Strawberry cottage B&B has a nice feel about English countryside, in fact, the house is on the list of protected building. The room was clean, simple and has all the basic needs. The garden was beautiful and very nice to walk around. The breakfast was wonderful and well served. It was a short drive to Portsmouth where we spent a day at the famous ship yard and had great time. My only issue was the shower didn't have hot water, but I am not sure it was it broken or I didn't operate right. It is an electronic one which I am not familiar with. The owner happened to be away and the breakfast lady, she was very nice by the way, didn't know how to fix it. 

Great B&B place, authentic English feel

My mum, Nan and I stayed at the charming strawberry cottage just the one night this weekend, as we were visiting the area for a family birthday party. The family room was really lovely, with such comfy beds! The host very welcoming, with nothing too much to ask and cooked us a great breakfast! Fresh eggs from the hens in the garden and homemade jams. No complaints whatsoever and would highly recommend this hidden gem if you are in the area. Much better than some of the bigger hotels around. Thank you for having us, we will think of you again in future! 

Hidden gem for a one night stopover 

IT's the fith time I stayed there and I hope to be there again very soon. Great cottage and Ferd and Jenny are great host. The sausages are fantastic! The cottage has a lot of history and it feels like home.

What a lovely B&B, we only stopped one night.
The room was clean and tidy, breakfast was more than ample and very tasty. The staff were very polite and helpful. Lots of nice pubs within 10 minutes drive for a good meal. Would recommend. 


Beautiful setting

me and my partner were looking for a relaxing weekend getaway to relax and a friend of ours recommended this place, we couldn't of been happier, the atmosphere was breathtaking, this beautiful little cottage house neatly tucked away within a gorgeous garden, in full bloom at the time, guided graciously to our double room, very tidy, everything clean and perfectly presentable, could not of asked for a better experience. the hosts were very polite and gave a fantastic warm welcome, not too overbearing but still made the experience feel personal and special, something rarely seen nowadays and very much appreciated.  breakfast was served in good timing and was amazing, it is exactly how you'd expect a welcoming home cooked breakfast to be, and the fact the eggs were from the chickens on site (which you can see, but noise wasn't an issue) was a fantastic added bonus. I will definitely be going again and will stay even longer next time, beautiful, unforgettable and deserves an excellent rating.

felt like home away from home

...and we found this.

At first I was a little reticent because I know the exact area that this B&B is in and I just couldn't picture it amongst the huge residential development that is this part of Hedge End, but it was either this or a Travelodge so...

A cute and quaint little B&B tucked away in the garden of the oldest house in Hedge End. Good bed, average shower, average breakfast (where were the sausages on the full english??) but altogether a better experience than anything you could expect from a Travelodge or Premier Inn. And evening food was available from the Shamblehurst Barn right next door. 

My only niggles were the host's overly-attentiveness at breakfast (but then we were the only guests that night so it was excusable) and the apparent lack of off road parking - we arrived from different directions in two different cars and one had to be parked away from the B&B in the adjoining lane.

Desperate for something other than a Travelodge.....

My wife and I stayed here to break a long journey. We were greeted warmly by our host and recommendations were made on good local eateries. The accommodation was good, surrounded by a lovely garden, and we spent a quiet night in a cosy room. The facilities were very good. A good breakfast selection was provided before we left.

Overnight stay ahead of a cruise from Southampton

Lovely place to stay in. The location was perfect as my sister and I were looking for a quiet space to spend the week-end. 20 min from Southampton, we enjoyed both the countryside and city life for 2 days. The landlords are very nice and made our stay comfortable. We even tried their delicious strawberry jam!

Strawberry Themed Week-End

We stayed with Jenny and Ferd the night before our cruise left from Southampton.  we were made very welcome and being so close to the port made for a very relaxing start to our holiday in that we could get to the port early and board our ship without the crowds later in the day.  Strawberry Cottage is set in the beautiful garden of Jenny and Ferd's main house and is totally self contained with a comfortable lounge/dining area and a kitchen so breakfast is cooked on site.   The bedrooms are very quiet and comfortable and we were given a lovely breakfast in the morning with eggs often provided by the chickens kept in the garden with plenty of other breakfast options available.  We would certainly use Strawberry Cottage again if we book another cruise or when we visit the area.

Pre-cruise excellence

We recently stayed here for a long weekend for a special occasion. However, on our arrival we were disappointed to find that the double room we had booked from seeing the photographs had been allocated to someone else and we were offered a family room instead. The room was comfortable and clean but as we were on the ground floor and the floorboards above us creaked we didn't get to sleep very quickly on our first night as the people above us had decided to stay up late. The breakfasts were good however, and overall the convenient location made it an ideal base to explore the area.
