I booked a room here for one nights stay with a friend. We arrived outside with our bags only to discover it has closed down. They did not inform us of this at any time before arrival. A neighbouring hotel told us they have been closed a few months. We were stranded in a city with nowhere to stay. The phone number or email address does not work to contact them.
What disgusts me is that they are still taking bookings through many websites so this is going to happen to others.

Do not book, it has closed.

My boyfriend and I had booked a room at your hotel for last night but when we turned up there was no one there and it was all shut up. We tried to ring the number provided but got no answer and were told by a passer by that the place had been shut for weeks! This booking should never have been accepted and I trust payment will not come out of my account! We were forced to find another hotel at short notice so that we didn’t miss our friends party. All in all it was a dreadful experience.  Remove your hotel from the booking sites so that no more unfortunate people end up stranded and disappointed on the street. The contact email address does not even work!

HOTEL HAS CLOSED DOWN! DO NOT BOOK

The below email was sent on 13th Feb, on the day of my check out I gave the below feedback to Michaela who agreed that some sort of refund was required but she needed to speak to her manager the next day to find out how much they would reimburse. She didn’t call me as she had promised and since then to date all emails have been ignored, they hardly answer my phone calls and when I finally caught Michaela on the phone nearly two weeks later she fobbed me off by saying she hasn’t seen or spoken to her manager since I stayed. Needless to say I’m still chasing to get money back ... reasons to NOT stay at this hotel 

Good afternoon

I was expecting to receive a call on Monday to discuss how much money was going to be refunded back to me. I stayed at Cargo on 9th Feb and lady in charge agreed that some sort of reimbursement was required due to the following:

- the WiFi wouldn’t work
- the wall lights blew which meant I had to use lamps and essentially had a dark room
- the shower dribbled water so washing shampoo out wasn’t easy
- the drains smelt which meant the room smelt

I am disappointed to see I haven’t received an email or call re this despite being told I would hear on Monday. 

Can someone kindly confirm how much money I can expect to be refunded back onto my card please?

We booked to stay at Cargo as we have stayed here previously on numerous occasions and the staff used to be friendly & the food used to be good. Unfortunately, our recent visit will be the last. After checking in, we decided to have a drink at the bar. As the staff member on duty had no keys to the cellar they had run out of draught lager. The wine choice was also very poor and the bar prices seem very steep when compared with other local bars.

The hotel generally has a very tired appearance, chipped and faded paint on the walls, bedroom and bathroom fixings broken and mould on the ceiling of the bathroom. There was also no hot water on the first morning.

Breakfasts at Cargo used to be a real treat. Now the hotel advertises a continental breakfast which is actually some cereal in boxes, some pain au chocolate still in wrappers and a bit of fruit. Oh, and a loaf of bread. Absolutely no effort what so ever.
 
I asked the member of staff on duty at the time to ask the manger or owner to phone me but not surprisingly, no call came through. The owners should remember that we pay a not inconsiderable sum to stay in this hotel so some basic level of service is expected.

The hotel also request payment upfront on arrival which should maybe have set alarm bells ringing.

There is one positive in that the bed was very comfy.

Used to be nice - disappointing now!

Nice staff... shame about the accommodation. Having read some negative reviews I tried to go with an open mind but I’m afraid to say that my fears were confirmed. The shabby chic vibe is definitely missing the chic. This hotel needs an urgent refurb and a deep clean. We were moved from one room due to a faulty door lock. Our original room actually had paper hanging from the ceiling! The new room had a damp musty smell which was coming from the bathroom,  probably because the extractor fan was not working.    I feel that the whole place needs a big shake up. On a positive note the bed was comfortable and breakfast was ok. Other than that, I would not stay again  and would definitely not recommend.
