My wife and myself stayed for one night at Walcot House , Denise and Rob made us very welcome , the room was perfect , bright and spotlessly clean , Full English breakfast , which was spot on , thank you we will definitely be staying again 

Fantastic one night stay

This place is run by an old guy who simply does not care

Major faults 

Omg the road noise is bad
The light on the landing kept going on and off all night and there was a gap under my door.
The noise from him in the kitchen  was bad
No chair for the desk so you can't work at it
The shower is v hard to get a temperature  that dies not burn or freeze you
Breakfast  is not as shown.  No cereal  the sausage  was rank horrible,  the milk  for the tiny coffee was so small in volume  my coffee were nearly  black
Not sorry at all.  I am so tired I will need to book another room elsewhere 

Minor things

No socket next to the bed so you can't charge your phone and have it on the bedside table.   A simple extension  lead for 5 quid would solve it

The body wash was not in the shower and the pump did not work,

You simply  get the feeling  the guy has given up.  No pride in what he does.  Maybe a bit forgetful  as well.  Oh and tight. If he could provide less he would ie like milk lol

It's a real shame but avoid.  Don't get fooled by nice pictures 

Car traffic , lights going on you will not sleep

Our motorhome broke down travelling to Fawley for an event over the weekend and we needed very last minute accommodation. 
Walcot House was a 5 minute walk from where we needed to be so absolutely perfect, but their website showed that they were full (like most accommodation in the wider area as it was the start of the school holidays). 
We phoned on the off chance they had something and spoke to the lovely Denise who said they had a small double available with a small en-suite, would that be ok? As we needed to attend the event it was very much ok! 
Upon arrival in the evening we were greeted by the equally lovely Rob.  We were expecting a very small bed, but it was a very good size and the en-suite was absolutely fine too. Both much bigger than our motorhome, so we were very happy.
The room was very clean & tidy and on the ground floor. The breakfast room was right next door and breakfast itself was a joy. Several great choices including gluten-free bread for my husband (who subsequently indulged in a full English breakfast). 
All in all we had a fantastic stay and will not hesitate to recommend Walcot House to anyone!

brilliant service

Rob, the owner gave us a warm welcome and made us feel at home throughout our stay. 

We stayed in twin bedroom 4 which was a very clean, comfortable good sized room and en suite. 

The location is ideal for exploring the New Forest and surrounding areas. There was a very good and varied breakfast menu, more variety than any other guest house I have stayed. 

The area itself does not have any local pubs or restaurants which didn’t affect us as we had already booked dinner in Hythe and Lymington. Other places are a short drive away

Good Base to explore

My room was clean and had everything I needed. It was very hot and there was a fan in the wardrobe.
Rob the host was extremely helpful 
My room was downstairs, as I am disabled and at the front, although I could hear the traffic, I slept wel on the comfortable bed. Checkout was at 10.30 after a scrumptious breakfast

Overnight stay

I was disappointed with our stay.  We had room 2 with a four poster bed which half blocked the en-suite door so if a little on the large side would have had trouble accessing it.  Breakfast was ok but I don’t like cheap supermarket cereals instead of the real thing.  Cannot comment on hosts as only met them once.  Thought it was a bit overpriced for a B and B.  Hotel price but not hotel quality, would not stay again.

Not happy

Our room was clean and well appointed and furnished. The four poster bed was a nice surprise.  The hosts were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was very nice and there was plenty of it. Well situated to explore the New Forest and surrounds. Definitely worth a visit and we will stay again I'm sure. 

A Little Gem 

I was given room 8 for my stay and due to the 'Covid19' situation', I didn't have to share facilities, so that was a great bonus.  The rooms were very clean, too.

There was an extensive breakfast choice and good quality fresh coffee (not instant!).  Quality of food was excellent.

Very friendly and accommodating hosts.  I look forward to returning.

Good location, welcoming hosts

Had rooms 8 and 9 on the ground floor which share a bathroom.  Was almost like having our own apartment.  Rooms were quiet, comfortable and roomy with ample storage.  Anti bac soap in bathroom so you might want to take normal soap with you.  Hand sainitzer by front door.  Breakfast time is arranged on arrival so you can be socially distanced over breakfast.  Still an extensive breakfast which was served by the owner and not a waitress as on previous occasions.

Another great stay

Rob & Denise who run Walcot house are the most welcoming hosts we have come across. We as a family stayed here for a mini break during the Covid19 crisis and all necessary measures were in place like hand sanitizers and staggered breakfast slots. Their breakfast menu is very varied which is so welcome if you like variety or don’t fancy the full English. Everything is freshly cooked to perfection, including pancakes which my 10yr old eagerly looked forward to each morning. We were in the family room with the en-suite which was stopless, ohh special mention goes out to the most comfortable beds. We would highly recommend this place if you’re within the area.
