For what we paid it was fine. Just stayed the one night. Room had a balcony, bed was comfy, room was quiet and the manager was friendly. Can’t ask for much more. It’s certainly not the Ritz, but it certainly met my expectations for £40. If you need a bed for the night, it certainly does the job

No issues, comfortable enough

Very warm welcome . Done up basic room to make it look lovely for Anniversary.bed was clean and comfortable. Towels were clean. Happy with our stay . Thank you Daniel . For the price , you get what you pay for.

Wedding anniversary

Walls are thin could hear next rooms guest every word, wifi cuts out every 5 mins couldnt stream anything. The receptionist was friendly but would reccomend staying somewhere else as room doors are flimsey and doesnt seem secure. Was clean and provided with tea / coffe.

Cheap but not worth a revisit

We stayed at the Southend inn hotel for 2 nights. The owner, Stephan, was very welcoming and friendly. Shower was brilliant, really hot water. Room was clean. We had a fantastic stay in Southend, the room was just our place to sleep, there are so many places to get breakfast and lunch and dinner. I was glad I found availability at this time of year. It’s location was a 2 minute walk down the hill to the beach, which was not crowded like central Southend. We would go back here again. There is a Premier quick stop around the corner and plenty of takeaways. This is not a five star hotel, it doesn’t claim to be, but it had a lovely nostalgic feel to me of being by the sea in a simple, clean and friendly inn.

Value for money

I visited this hotel with my husband and 3 children so we got 2 rooms that were clean and toilets with the showers were in good condition . We got towels and the bed sheets were clean too and smelled nice.
The receptionist who welcomed us was ver polite and helpful and gave us advice about the transportation in the area.
The only negative thing was that they don’t serve breakfast and check out time was at 10 am so we had to find the nearest place around that served breakfast. 
In general in was a nice stay but they should say clearly that they don’t serve breakfast.

Clean and tidy

Stayed here for two nights, room very dilapidated and tired, could do with a total revamp. Bedding was clean and changed after our first night. Not gonna lie was very cheap for peak season. Good to have the free parking and all the main attractions only about a 15 minute walk. Won’t be staying here again unless the rooms are very much improved and bought up to modern times.

Get what you pay for

Payed 120 for 5 of us to stay though we was having breakfast tell we payed to be informed that there is a problem with the staff and was not getting one so off we all went to McDonald's which is a long way from the place .the room is very out dated and stuffy all I can say is you get wot you pay for but the owner was very nice and helpful

Very out dated

Where do I start... 

1) the smell- the room reeked of stale cigarette smoke, even the can of fabreeze I had in the car made no difference- it was that bad. I bent down to look for a childs toy under the bed and got a whiff of the carpet... I actually gagged. 

2) all the furniture was of an age and condition that it should be skipped- even charity shops wouldnt take it it was that bad. 

3) wardrobe, gastly side tables and TV cabinets were not secured to the wall - not good in a family room. 4) all matresses are in the same category as the furniture.. honestly - they were rank, so uncomfortable and old. 

4) general activity in the hotel... tbh I think its mainly occupied by eastern Europeans as are most hotels down that road, the constant slamming of doors and raised voices went on until 2am.... then they were up leaving for work at 6.30am. People coming and going all night into the early hours, more like a hostel. In summary,

5) no parking as stated.

I would class it as a doss house - certainly not fit for somewhere to take your family away for the night to the seaside as I did.

Sleep deprived and smelly

This place hardly deserves to be called a "hotel" let alone an "inn". The owner was very pleasant and apologised because we couldn't have rooms next door to each other. 
We had a room on the top floor up a flight of steep stairs that had worn carpets and which was pulling away from its anchoring tac strip. The room looked as if the bathroom was recently decorated. It had a total of 3 beds 1 double 2 singles. The bed linen was clean. But a check of the pillows and duvet underneath showed these were not clean.
The second room where my daughter stayed was awful, bleach damaged carpets, mould on the wall, mould all over the grouting in the shower room, rusty bathroom accessories, a shower head that was so gross, my daughter used our room to shower! Luckily there was plenty of hot water. 
The tea/coffee was a plus, until I opened and poured a milk tub into my tea only to discover that the milk was rotten, the smell made me sick! 
The property seemed to have a number of families housed in it by the local council. 
I will never use this place again.

Clean,but a hostel of the worst type!

Worst place to stay 😞 Avoid.. The bed sheet smells and obviously has not been changed. No soap in the shower room. Noisy and we did not get any sleep at all...The manager just wants to get your money...very bad service.
