Stayed for two nights during my wife’s netball tournament. Lovely breakfast but found quite confusing to order. Bed was ok and shower pressure was rubbish. Owner Danny can come across as grumpy initially but is a nice chap with plenty of chat. Enjoyed our two nights. Thanks.

Two night visit

Just returned from a fantastic 4 night stay at st Margaret’s lodge, we arrived Monday afternoon, a little bit earlier than expected, we were greeted by Gwen who gave us our room keys (room 15) and told us all the information we required to make our stay as good as possible. The room was a large double with two chairs and a very comfortable bed, the complimentary tea tray was well stocked and replenished daily, the bathroom although smallish was totally adequate for our needs with a good shower plenty of hot water and complimentary toiletries. The room was serviced daily. Breakfast is served in the light and airy dining room that overlooks the garden. Breakfast was the usual fayre of tea, coffee or fruit juice, a selection of cereals, followed by a very well cooked full English breakfast that changed each day, followed by toast with jam or marmalade. I must take time to give credit to the staff who made our stay such a pleasure. Firstly Ollie who served breakfast each day, a very pleasant young man, who was always polite and friendly, a real asset to the b&b, Gwen who was friendly and helpful when we were checking in & finally Danny, what can we say about Danny, St Margaret’s lodge wouldn’t be the same without Danny, from cooking the breakfasts to answering the guests questions, nothing is too much trouble for him, a mine of local information from bars to places to eat to local places of interest. We’ve stayed in plenty of b&b’s around the country, St Margaret’s lodge is up there amongst the best, we would certainly stay there again if we’re ever in the area and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend St Margaret’s lodge to family and friends.

A perfect stay, in a wonderful b&b.

A lovely clean B&B . Really good freshly prepared breakfast. The young man serving the breakfast was lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room and bathroom was very comfortable and clean. It's very well situated. 2 minute walk to the sea front and pier. Would highly recommend staying there.

Summer break

I stayed at this hotel 2 weeks ago and I have never felt so uncomfortable around an business owner. He comes across as rude and arrogant.

At breakfast was quite awkward. He doesn't speak very nice to the young girls who work there and I could see how embarrassed they were.

Bed was comfortable and clean, shower was OK. 

Sorry won't be staying again or reccomend by me

Rude and uncomfortable

I was informed that one of my close family members was spoken too not very nicely and didn't have a nice experience and was a bit rude to them which ruined their experience and upset them and caused them distress. Also a very negative attitude.

Lacking open mindedness and manners

Myself and my family have been stopping at St Margaret's Lodge for a good 14 years now when we holiday in Southsea. Why do we go back? It's simple... it's an amazing place to stay, located close to the seafront with it's amazing views (on a clear day) and lovely promenade walks on any day! There is public transport close by if walking isn't your thing and this will take you to all of Southsea and Portsmouth's attractions, however walking to them is a must on a sunny day. St Margaret's Lodge itself is a warm and welcoming place to lay your head after a day in Southsea, the rooms are well equipped,homely and clean... exactly what is needed after a long day visiting Southsea and a night on the arcades. Breakfast, well we love the breakfast!! With tea, coffee and orange juice.... fresh fruit platter or cereal... a delicious cooked breakfast which differs daily and plenty of toast... which is why I say we love the breakfast! However what really makes St Margaret's Lodge special is Gwen and Danny, who all those years ago made my family and myself welcome. We arrived that year as strangers but now return yearly as friends... and that makes St Margaret's Lodge a special place to stay.

Simply Special

My wife and I returned for three nights on Friday last week and once again were not disappointed. Breakfast was fine and the room ideal. Patron was amiable and made us feel welcome again. Car parking was great with plenty of on site spaces available. 

Third visit

This B and B is excellent in all aspects. The location is good with a freshwater lake and the seafront nearby. It is well served by buses and nearby restaurants. The hotel is beautifully decorated and spotless throughout. The breakfast is delicious. Car parking is on the premises or on the road around the location. All this is at a very reasonable cost.

Excellent all round

Stayed here for 3 nights in July. Excellent accomodation, generous sized ensuite double room with tea and coffee making facilities.
Breakfasts were cooked fresh and of good quality. Car parking to the front of the property was a bonus.
Ideal to reach all parts of Southsea and Portsmouth.

Really enjoyable stay in a lovely clean guest house

We booked this as a last minute trip, we stayed in a standard double room, comfy bed and en-suite. The home does have WiFi, but is poor. If you need to do any work while staying just be aware it does drop in and out. The breakfast however is scrumptious! A good selection, which was different on both mornings we were here and tasted amazing. Limited parking on the premises, but there is plenty free parking on the street. Good location just a few minute walk to the beach, and easy to drive anywhere in Portsmouth. We wouldn’t think twice about booking here again.
