Beautiful location and fantastic rooms. Very clean and well kept. Loved it. The breakfast was amazing. Staff all very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be going again, and will stay longer this time. 

Great choice for Southsea

I had to find accommodation at the last minute as our original booking elsewhere was cancelled on us two days  before travel!  
I had the pleasure of dealing with Ellie from the first phone call, and she was amazing!  She was so professional and beyond helpful as she assisted with  organising a taxi for us (again, the original one was cancelled as a different area).  She also explained the area, gave us a map, and showed us where we were. 
I have a lactose intolerance, and she specifically bought lactose free milk (can't do soya in tea!!)  

The room itself was beautiful, so spacious, and a really comfortable bed.  Spotlessly clean! 
There was a fan in the room, which was perfect for cooling down the room. 
The Garden Room Restaurant that is part of the hotel was fantastic, with great food, staff, and atmosphere.  Great menu that caters for all and a good choice for breakfast and evening meal, if you don't want to venture out too far. 
All in all, would 100% stay again.

Couple on a long weekend. Rather good mid-range hotel / B&B. Friendly welcome. Lovely room on second floor. Nicely decorated, comfy, warm clean - all very nice. Couple of requests to housekeeping promptly dealt with. Parking on quiet street not far away. Location is great - five minutes from the attractive seafront. If by any chance you’re a Park Runner - the Southsea run starts just round the corner and is a glorious thrash along the esplanade. Breakfast - can’t avoid noting the really poor eggs, and the dire coffee. Everything else fine. You can pay extra to upgrade your coffee, which is a bit odd in 2022 I would say - why not just up the price, nobody wants 1970s coffee anymore.

This weekend was our 1st foray into 'New Normal' hotel accommodation.  My partner and I were in room 5, the Superior Suite.  The room was amazing!  Giant spa bath which was bigger than most hot tubs, with integrated shower, mood lighting, a television above the bath, very modern sink and toilet, and all spotless!
The bed was a huge sleigh bed which was amazingly comfortable with beautiful furnishings. Social distancing was practiced with a well thought out breakfast routine, and the breakfast menu was amazingly decadent, offering a huge variety of options, all served by the loveliest lady. Best poached eggs ever!!!!!
Special thanks to Daniel who looked after all queries efficiently, and was extremely friendly and helpful.
Definitely visiting again!!!

TOTALLY OUTSTANDING IN EVERY RESPECT

It is not far from the pier, 35 min walk from the Spinnaker Tower. Breakfast is great, parking was also great. Staff was very helpful and nice. The room lovely, but don't take room 1 if you are a light sleeper. The matrass was to hard for me, mixed with people above I did not really sleep good. 

All was fine and nice staff 

We had our annual Christmas lunch with the oldies, we were made to feel very welcome, the table was dressed lovely with the added bonus of recyclable crackers. The food was good and very good value, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend

We stayed here at the weekend for a wedding and were really impressed with the hotel. The hotel rang us the day before to see if we had any questions and find out our arrival time. When we arrived they were so helpful and friendly. The room was great - clean, comfy bed and a tv in the bathroom! 
Breakfast the next day was probably one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had.
Would recommend.

Great hotel, lovely staff and delicious breakfast

Couldn’t fault this hotel , we were warmly welcomed and given a friendly run down on what was nearby and nice places to eat and drink and escorted to our room which was immaculate. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. It was a lovely stay and we will certainly be back. Many thanks 😊

Excellent. Best hotel we have stayed in for a while

Such a delightful hotel, receptionist could not be more helpful.
Room (2) was so comfortable and immaculately clean.
We had dinner at the Gastro pub, which was brilliant.
Breakfast at the Clarence was wonderful and so much of it.
Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. 

Superb Stay

We have recently returned from a two night midweek stay at The Clarence and we were not disappointed.
Our room was at the top of the house, we chose this room as we wanted a room with a shower rather than a bath.
The room was quite a decent size as was the bathroom.
Tea & coffee was provided in the rooms also toiletries in the bathroom.
Breakfast consisted of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, dried fruits, various jams and spreads, fruit juices, tea, coffee, toast and quite a varied variety of hot options cooked to order. We were more than happy with what was on offer and it set us up for the day ahead exploring.
We slept so well whilst we stayed here and without a doubt we would stay here again.
Staff were all very polite and friendly, we were recommended some great places to eat nearby, one being a great tapas bar a few minutes walk away.
Excellent value for money.
