My family and I have just returned from a two week stay at Gardener’s Cottage.  This property is all about location, location, location, we enjoyed being able to access the coastal path from our doorstep.  The cottage itself is also in a great location, surrounded by greenery, bird song, rabbits in the garden and the odd pig snuffle from beyond the hedge!
We had a great holiday exploring the beautiful East Neuk of Fife and have already booked to return to the area next year, there is so much to see and do.
We slept well, the showers are good and we enjoyed sitting in the garden.
Problems with the cottage during our stay were remedied quickly.

Great location

Sadly just not for us,indeed booked up till Monday but left on Sunday. Whilst stated up to four this is a very small cottage. The living room taken up by a very large sofa bed leaving very little space for three adults and a five year old. Photos on site imo very misleading.  The tip off toilet seat was broken but the space itself very clean. Just don't expect living space. It's the smallest cottage I've every stayed at and at £530 not good value for money. Go to Morton of Pitmilly for a far better experience. We never actually saw any staff the whole time we where there..I did contact out of hours as we couldn't find additional towels...we found them in the sofa bed! A wee note to say that would have been nice. Was not contacted till following day but txt was professional and polite. As I say just not for 4 stick to 2 max and I'm sure it could be acceptable. I would have raised this if anyone was actually about  as this should be face to face but it is what it is. 
I'll just need to be far more careful booking places.... so I'm  sure it is all our fault! 
Going home as just couldn't take one more night ..sorry but you need to be honest in these reviews else no point.

 Oh and remember you need to take all your recycling  home with you or make a detour to Pittenweem !
And strip your bed and towels into a bag!
 .still not sure what my £500+ for three nights is actually paying for....

Avoid small cottages they don't fit 4 comfortably

Pleasant grounds and general location. Accommodation basic. No grill pan or dishes/ pans to go in oven so completely useless. Thick dust under bed including a child’s dummy! Bathroom door lock did not work for the entirety of our stay. Furnishing stained , despite dire warnings about penalties should we cause any staining. Dirt on radiator. OK for the lovely surroundings but we would not return . Sorry.

Nice gardens and location.

The cottage is basic but modern and lovely design. Very clean and everything you would need! 

We went with our 3 year old daughter. The cottage is small, I wouldn’t advise 4 adults in one cottage as there is no storage and bathroom is the en-suite. The sofa bed was supposed to be for my daughter however there was no bedding for this so she had to sleep with us which meant 2 very sleepless nights. 

We were advised to strip the beds and empty the bins (covid rules. Is that even a thing now?) We did as asked the the recycling centre was closed to I ended up home in Aberdeen with my bag of recycling. Not ideal! 

I have also been chasing for over a week now for my deposit to be returned as agreed as still have not received this and only get sporadic replies to emails.

A splendid little cottage in beautiful surroundings. Luxe linens and toiletries. Totally spoilt and enjoyed every single minute.  Our welcome reception from Kate made us feel special right from the start! Beautiful grounds to ramble in and a hop skip and a jump from everything photogenic! Definitely a return trip on the cards! 

Magnificent Madeira in Fife

Fantastic base for a family celebration for a Golden Wedding and a significant birthday. Perfect for exploring the delights of the East Neuk and further afield. The Bothy was a magical venue for our main celebrations and the grandchildren and dogs loved exploring the grounds. Highly recommended.

Had a fantastic 2 nights here for my 50th. There were 14 of us so we booked the gardeners house and 2 cottages. Absolutely perfect. Jamie and Tara have thought of everything down to hot tub, pizza ovens and barbecue. Would highly recommend. So central for exploring other areas of the East Neuk.

Fantastic venue for large group celebrations or equally suitable for a couple . Dog friendly. Beautiful part of the world. 

I really do not know where to start with our last minute getaway in Maderia. We stayed in the Gardeners Cottage, consisting of 2 adults and 3 children. 

From the moment we arrived, we realised it was somewhere special, somewhere where we would be able to relax for the weekend.

There was more than ample space for a family, having 3 bedroom, the children were spoilt for choice on where to sleep!

The grounds surrounding the cottage were beautiful, a lot of thought has been put into every single detail both within and outwith the cottage. From a little burn running through the bottom of the garden, with a swing over it, which my son loved! To a little trail through the woods where there were various log burners you could use, a little fairy tree and a lots more.

We all enjoyed th log burning hot tub, which was a welcome change from your traditional electric hot tubs. So beautiful sitting in it, surrounded by nature with the sun setting.

Tara, the owner is a lovely lady who really could not have done anymore for us.

We will be back in the very near future and please  if you are looking for somewhere to stay for a relaxing getaway, you will not get anywhere better.

Well needed family getaway, an absolute gem of a place.

We were really looking forward to going away as a family, but our stay was so unprepared. We were told we would receive a welcome book which we never and we had to all continually txt Tara to ask questions on how things worked and where things were. There was no notes on how to work things such as the hot tub. You have to take every single piece of rubbish with you and although they state there is a recycling centre close it isn’t always open so it meant driving home with smelly rubbish from our long weekend in the car. You have to bag all your duvets before leaving and supply
Your own bags for them. 
We are all still waiting for deposits back after putting down for 3 properties. This after 1 property on the first night we tried to heat the hot tub, again with no instructions, it ended up melting the bottom as it emptied the water. As an honest family we went straight to Tara and told her of the problem, she said this is easy done and her family member had done it before. We offered money towards insurance  deposit which was not the full balance of our deposit. However, Tara has not given any deposit back which was secured on all 3 properties, this after they said the properties were all fine and we were welcome to come back. Tara said she had to hire a hot tub for the next guests but on the website it doesn’t mention a hot tub with the property, so feel that we have been treated so Unfairly . We read other people struggled to get their deposits back aswell, it’s not really acceptable. Tara is now ignoring our messages.

So disappointed

Madeira in Fife was a fabulous choice for a weekend away. We were a group of 17 celebrating a 40th birthday. The children loved exploring the grounds and having a little bit of freedom in this quiet location. The owners are smashing and helped this weekend to be just perfect.
A short walk into Pittenweem takes  you to the Fife Coastal walk. The walk to St Monans then Elie takes around 1.45 hours. The walk the other direction takes you through Anstruther then onto Crail that takes 2 hours. Beautiful scenery, stop for a coffee, gorgeous.
