In June this year (2014) my wife and I spent a lovely week in Jersey staying in St Aubin at the delightful Peterborough House. Dating from the late 17th century the house is full of character and the best use made of the available space when converted into guest rooms. Our room was on the top floor and was quite a climb, as there is no lift, but the owner Fernando helped take our cases. The room was more than adequate for our needs, although the built in wardrobes were rather small. The shower enclosure in the bathroom could possibly be rather restrictive for the larger framed person, but was fine for us. The bed was very comfy and tea and coffee making facilities very good. Breakfast, taken in the low beamed basement was filling and hearty, just the thing to set you up for the day. From the moment we arrived to the morning we left the owners, Fernando and Annette, could not have been more friendly or helpful.
We can recommend Peterborough House as a lovely, clean place to stay, but remember it is a house dating from the late sixteen hundreds, not a modern guest house. So if you fancy staying in a house full of character with an interesting history you need look no further than Peterborough House.
This was our third visit to St Aubin and our first to Peterborough House but it wont be our last.

Delightful stay.

Sadly in April this year I lost my wife to cancer.  We both always said life starts outside the door if  one of us louse each other, she wanted me to go out and live life (easier said than done).  So I decided to go on holiday to Jersey as my first solo holiday.  To be fair I would of been happy if the whole holiday was cancelled.  As it happened I could of not wished for better.  Smith's travel part of the ferry company who arranged the holiday for me including transfer to and from the ferry port (I think they are part of the ferry company ) suggested Peterborough house guest house for me.  I was expecting a broom cupboard (dredging it) for one person from what I was told by other solo travellers that was offered other rooms at other guest houses, and hotels  when travelling solo where ever in the world.  I was delighted to been offered a double room on the first floor which was very clean, airy with plenty of hot water.  So to the breakfast now, I am not a fan of fresh grilled tomatoes, in salads yes but breakfast no, no problem tin tomatoes will be here tomorrow for you and they were.  Hearty food breakfast each day set me up for the whole day out in Jersey.   I must of walked 85% of the coast line enjoying some of the best views one could wish for.  Would I recommend the Peterborough House as a place to stay YES.  Good bus service into town, it was on the airport bus route into town, plenty of places to eat (some better than others).   Some not the sort of places to eat if you are on a budget however, but shop around there are some good deals to be had.  What ever you are doing, holiday, working or a romantic hide away the Peterborough will tick the right boxes. So enjoy.

First holiday on my own

Whe stayed at Peterborough House for three nights in June 2013. Our room was ready on arrival (9,30 am) and our hosts were extremely helpful with information about where to hire bikes and in providing general tourist information, Our room was serviced daily and was very clean and comfortable. Facilities for  coffee and tea making were provided. Our ensuite shower was rather small and the controls took a bit of getting used to but water was plentiful and hot. The bedrooms are on three three floors with no lift. We were on the third so plenty of exercise was on offer. Breakfast was generous and well cooked with a good choice. When we had to miss breakfast due to an early start on our last morning, a packed breakfast including croissant and fruit was left for us to take. The hotel is very conveniently situated for the harbour, buses and restaurants and we would certainly return.

really cannot fault peterborough house,from the very helpful staff,spotless rooms,great location,tasty breakfast and excellent value for money,all in all im very pleased i stayed there.i did find the single bed a little small,but i am 6ft6,so its hardly a critisism! quite steep stairs if youre getting on in years,book a room on the ground floor would be my advice! nice family room and the dining area is very clean and tidy as well.i read through the guest book and everyone had written the same sort of stuff i am now. there are more expensive b and b"s in the same street,but if youre on a short stay,out all day etc,the peterborough is ideal.

We stayed for a long weekend and it wasn't long enough! The room was very comfortable, with views over the bay. The standard of cleanliness was exceptional with the room serviced every day. Anette was extremely helpful with all our enquiries about local travel and sight seeing. The breakfast was lovely (the scrambled egg was perfect!) and nothing was too much trouble. St Aubin is a lovely small town with plenty of eating places a few hundred yards from Peterborough House. We can certainly recommend Murray's.
We would not hesitate to stay at Peterborough House again if we are lucky enough to return to Jersey.
