I would give it a 5 for quality of food,4 for the room and 1 for the service/ staff.
On the Friday evening 20 of us had a meal and it was top notch as was the brekky on both days. Unfortunately the staff don’t know how to engage with guests. They either stare blankly and make little or no effort in making you feel welcome.
Such a shame as it marred the weekend. If they improved in these areas it would be really good all round.

A real Curate’s Egg of. a place.

Our second stay here as we also came over Christmas which was brilliant. After a long drive the management and staff were absolutely fantastic in making us feel welcome and relaxed. The rooms are tastefully decorated and super clean with plenty of tea,coffee and hot chocolate supplies which was great!
The locals are very friendly too with a great sense of humour so we really did feel we was home from home!
We had the full English in the morning which was as good as any we have ever had, this place really is a goldmine for anyone visiting the area and the fact it is dog friendly was just the cherry on the cake! We really can't recommend this place any higher other than we would struggle to book again once the secret is out!

Absolute Gem of a stsy 

Food was excellent and reasonably priced. I had the scampi and my wife the beef chilli.  Good size portions as well. We were just passing through but we’ll definitely come back again next time. The landlord was friendly and obliging. Nothing more to be said!

Took my mum out for sunday dinner for her birthday and the word going around was go the Bugle Inn you wont go wrong. Let me tell you now the food was Awesome!!  The roast beef melted in your mouth, crispys roast potatoes, boiled new potatoes were on a different level and the the veg  was lovely. One of the best meals out ive had in a long time. Service was brilliant, the staff very caring. Hidden gem comes to mind when i think of this place..... they also pour a magic pint of Tribute, also heard there cider is good too.

Sunday dinner

We arrived around 6:30pm and the bar was busy and lively. The car oark was full but qe managed to get a spot a bit later  having parked initially on the road. Friendly barman showed us up to our room. Room was a very good size, double bed and a single. Large en suite with a waterfall shower and bath. Very clean and looked like it had been recently refurbished. Went down for food and the bar was still busy with locals but no issues at all. Food was excellent and a real surprise! There is clearly a very talented chef working here. That was confirmed at breakfast,  which was exceptional. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.  A great place to stay and eat at
 Thoroughly recommend 👌

A hidden gem!

Arrived very late on the Friday to a very busy pub. The lady that showed us to our room was lovely and showed us where everything was. The room was satisfactory and we were impressed with the daily tidy up. We were given 2 bottles of mineral water a day due to unsafe drinking water in our room. 
The breakfasts were amazing and extremely hearty which kept us going until teatime. We ate one evening meal there was was lovely too and the cheese and pickle sandwiches were legendary!!!! 
The location was perfect for us to venture around the coastline of Cornwall.
All in all we had a great time at the Bugle Inn and it was extremely good value for money however the pub was very busy most evenings with locals and it didn't close until 11.45 so this made our evenings in the room quite noisy and eventually invested in ear plugs. This would have been no issue if we had been drinking downstairs as well but as we weren't, we were glad of the peace once everyone had gone.
However, overall a good stay, lovely food and great value for money.

My partner and I left this morning after a very pleasant stay. Staff were very friendly and we were given a very warm welcome upon arrival - tally (our dog) appreciated her bowl of water after a long journey! 

Our room was very clean and everything was thought of - even down to a bottle of water seeing as the tap water wasn’t drinking water. Rooms could do with a little bit of an update as some of the furniture looked a bit tired and old. We did struggle to flush the toilet at times but I gather that’s largely down to the fact that the building is quite old so to be expected. However, our bed was very comfortable and the room was a nice size - we slept well and appreciated the room being dog friendly also. 

The food at the bugle inn was fantastic. We had both dinner and breakfast and couldn’t fault either. Portion sizes were good value for what we paid and I feel there was plenty of choice to suit all types of people. The only thing I would say is that the music for a 6pm dinner was a bit too loud. We appreciate that it was a Saturday night but perhaps the music could have stayed at a lower volume until a little later in the evening as we struggled to have our normal dinner time conversation. 

For £89 including breakfast, we felt this was very good value and were very happy with the standard of service and hospitality  - thank you for having us :)

A friendly pub with good food - overall a great stay

We stayed here for three days whilst visiting the Eden Project, Minack Theatre and Lands End. Good value for money and only a few minutes drive from the Eden Project so ideally situated. Food in the bar was substantial and breakfast had so many choices, very surprising. All the staff were very friendly and the owner should be congratulated on the manner in which he keeps his real ale, it was superb! We'd definitely stay again!

3 day stay

Originally booked here because it was dog friendly. As it turned out we left our dog behind. But, no regrets about our choice. The Bugle Inn is very well positioned on the main road from Bodmin to St Austell. It is exactly as described, a pub with rooms. And very pleasant rooms at that. It’s an old building so it’s not perfect, but it’s obviously had time and money spent on doing the best with what they’ve got. We had a delightful double room with huge en-suite. All perfectly adequately appointed. We ate in the pub in on the Saturday evening. The pub had a good supply of  very friendly locals. The food is good, homemade pub grub. No pretensions, but tasty.
Yes there was noise from the pub in our room, but it wasn’t late. I also thought noise from the road could have been a problem, but not so.
Finally, breakfast. Fantastic and included. What more could you ask. Worth a particular mention, the bacon and the perfectly executed.poached egg.
Great for a day or twos stay to explore the area. Only 10 mins from the Eden Project. I really don’t think you could be disappointed with stay at the Bugle Inn.
