Just spent 2 days at Lower Barns and loved it. This place is magical, the accommodation and the surrounding gardens have been very thoughtfully put together and there are little touches that make you smile. Its very special as there is no light pollution at all at night and during the day its so peaceful with no noise of traffic, people or anything apart from wildlife , so restful and relaxing. If you are looking for total relaxation and rest this is the place. We stayed in the Hay Loft and marvelled at the high standards of decor and design. so many little touches like being left cotton buds and make up pads, a booklet of recommended things to do and places to go , so much choice of teas and coffee, local milk left in the fridge and replenished daily, home made fruit cake left in a tin with plates and napkins, i could go on and on. Janie and Mike are the perfect hosts who have built this place from scratch since 1992 and now how to cater and look after their guests whilst allowing privacy . Perfect place to totally unwind an d they do cater for very special weddings the grounds are amazing. Individually designed accommodation adds a great personal touch, review the website for yourself., There is an amazing hot tub on site and outdoor space to enjoy. With Cornwall all around you this is well worth a stay.

Stylish stay in the quiet of the country

Highly recommend this B&B, Lovely private room with outdoor area. We stayed an extra night as it was such a lovely place to stay, close to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Megavissey. Hosts Mike and Janie were so welcoming, serving up delicious breakfasts and nothing was too much trouble..

A must stay place

Ho my Goodness what a Safe Haven of a place, I have lived in Cornwall all my life & never knew this idyllic & beautiful place existed, my friend was actually staying at Lower Barns & told me to come visit because she was actually in an accessible room , I myself am a power wheelchair 🦼 user and thought to myself “ um accessible “? But it ACTUALLY was , I honestly could stay their Independently , the accessible shower room , loo & sink were All accessible, the room big enough to manoeuvre my power wheelchair around and the actual bedroom was so lush with colours , the bed looked so comfy, the fridge was accessible has was the tv and furnishings, 
Outside was another Huge Smile bringer , I navigated around the extensive gardens taking in the beautiful blossom covered arches, 
Before I had to head back home leaving my friend to continue to self-heal in these lush & beautiful surroundings we sat had a cup of  tea with  tucked away in a peaceful corner of the sweet aroma smelling garden , even the short time I spent their I came away refreshed both in my Heart & Spirit from the Special-ness of Lower Barns .

YEA , Accessibility to All even a Wheelchair users!!

Two months ago today we got married at Lower Barns. It was such a special, beautiful and relaxed day. 

Janie and Mike were incredible throughout the whole stay, they really went the extra mile to make sure that the whole stay was perfect! They were the best hosts! 

The accommodation is quirky and full of colour and life, all the rooms were decorated beautifully.  The food throughout the whole stay was delicious especially our wedding meal cooked by Janie! An exceptional chef!! The food was exceptional for all of us and catering for myself being vegan with such ease and even made our wedding cake vegan! which was so pretty and delicious 😋 

Mike was our photographer in lower barns he was super attentive taking photos from very early all the way through the whole day. He took us down to two gorgeous secluded beaches. The photos are so beautiful!  

Thank you so much and would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to elope! We felt like we were on our own little bubble at Lower Barns and will definitely be looking to book again for our wedding anniversary!

We were absolutely delighted with the whole stay. We could not have wished for a more idyllic day.  Janie and Mike are two exceptional humans who clearly adore the work they do. They made so much effort it was incredible. Janie has exquisite taste!! The rooms are stunning and so many thoughtful little touches of in our rooms such as Vegan chocolates and cake. the  attention to detail and care was second to none. It’s hard to put into words how beautiful they have made this venue. we will definitely be back.

What a brilliant place! It’s beautifully decorated and nicely done, the hosts are lovely and very helpful, very tasty breakfast especially the bread, we couldn’t fault the facilities and the location, we will be bringing the family back for a stay!!

Lovely place the beds was so comfy and quilts was luxy hot tub and sauna lovely just needs more lights around hot tub at night breakfast was nice but could of done with some beans or something as dry but other then that very clean lovely cereal every is just beautiful

We had the most fantastic experience at Lower Barnes. It was just perfect. Mike & Janie were the perfect hosts, who thought of everything and paid attention to every little detail.
Our Bohemian style suite, which was both very comfortable, with all mod cons, separate spacious bathroom with fantastic bath & shower , bright & beautiful, separate fully stocked kitchen with breakfast bar.
A lovely freshly made breakfast brought to our room daily.
Fresh orange juice, yoghurt, coffee, sour dough bread, all supplied in the kitchen and topped up.
Even our own  hot tub in our own personal private courtyard.
We were married in the wonderful “love shack” which was an amazing experience. We had an excellent wedding meal freshly cooked by Janie.
Mike did our wedding photos & took us to a secluded beach with amazing views and landscapes where we returned to, to explore further.
We then went on to our private , intimate meal in the “party shack”, with amazing decorations & our fantastic wedding cake.
Janie liaised directly with my stepdaughter to lay on a special surprise present , drink and card from our family which was a stunning surprise.
We are certainly going to return for our anniversary next year & likely several more.

We had the most fantastic wedding & honeymoon at Lower Barns and cannot recommend it enough. It was just perfect.

Myself and my partner (or should I say husband) came here to have an intimate ceremony with only our children and our parents. Janie and Mike made us feel so welcome and our wedding went perfectly, it was exactly how we imagined it. Every part of lower barns is absolutely amazing and so unique. We stayed in nook, our bed was huge and so comfy and having our own hot tub and sauna really made our three night stay that bit more relaxing. Each morning we received a wonderful cooked breakfast with fruit, yoghurt and homemade granola to accompany it (which was amazing). We honestly could not have wished for a more perfect intimate wedding, they took all of the stress out of planning a wedding and it was just beautiful. we will definitely be booking in for a stay every year on our anniversary! Thanks Mike and Janie! 

Elopement

Wow, jus wow! 

I tried to find something different, unique, a little piece of heaven to celebrate our first mini break without the children and pooch in toe, and smashed it out of the park when booking a three night stay at Lower Barns!  Initially drawn in by the rating, glowing reviews and gallery on the website, but trust me the reality is even better.  This place is special, so calm and peaceful, in fact that good we extended our stay by a night!
The Nook was adorable, Jenie and Mike have turned their old Shetland stable into a private suite with its own hot tub and sauna, which with its creative design simply melts away the stresses of normal life and leaves you feeling uplifted and chilled.
However, as we all know the experience isn’t complete without attentive hosts, well Jenie and Mike had that coved too, they simple put you at ease from the outset, and make you feel welcome, to the point you feel like long lost friends who you hope to see again.
If you like quirky, peaceful, but expect great service then treat yourself to a stay at Lower Barns.

A little piece of heaven in rural Cornwall that not everyone knows about thankfully, what a unique experience.

We recently had our elopement wedding at Lower Barns and what a fantastic time we had. The whole process from initial contact to the actual wedding day itself was stress free and easy . On arrival we were shown to our home for the next three nights in the beautiful Cranny . I've worked in hospitality for 18 years and have never seen such  unique and homely accommodation. Everything was catered for from tea and tomato sauce to hairdryer and hairspray. The bed was super comfy and the little added touches like dvds to watch and the breakfast amenities were lovely. Our actual wedding day was so relaxing and I felt we literally glided through the day . Janie had everything under control and you can tell the wedding circuit in this area is right knit and supportive of each other. The grounds for a wedding are just amazing and even if the weather is not in your favour then there are inside locations which are equally as quirky and fun. Overall , a fantastic place for your wedding or just treat yourself to a bit of indulgence.
