Wonderful warm welcome as always. All staff delightful and friendly. Super comfy bed and pillows , yummy biscuits tea and coffee and water in room. Clean room and bedding and sea view. Breakfast very good with so much continental and huge variety of cooked freshly. Other food great too. Soda water with ice and slices free which is a great service

A great winter 4 night stay in a welcoming comfy premier inn

Stunning views from the bedroom, bar and restaurant, no matter the weather. Very clean and well managed by friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant for breakfasts and evening meals...delicious! Good vegetarian options. Dress is smart/casual. Limited parking, so we pre booked the carpark through the hotel. Carpark and train station right by the hotel, there   are some steps leading down to the hotel from there. Hotel porter at hand if necessary. Great for walkers or just visiting St Ives. If you prefer a quieter break, then out of season is best, but do check opening times of The Tate and Museum etc. Lots of beaches, one looked good for surfing etc. Dog friendly. We will be booking again!

Great experience

This hotel has the best situation right on the water. You can lie back on your bed, look out the window and think you are at sea! The staff were all extremely pleasant and upbeat. I really appreciated our cases being taken to our room. We came by train and it is close to the station. Dog friendly too, at least off season when we went. By dog friendly I mean your dog can be with you when you eat.  The only minus points were that our room was not serviced before the second night and we had to ask for more milk. Also, the menu was not very varied (some dishes were not available) so we only ate in once and the Eton mess was mainly just cream and upset my stomach I think. The breakfast menu was good though my avocado smash and tomatoes seemed to be a small amount of mashed avocado with chillies and no tomatoes and the poached egg was undercooked.  However, aside from that food, the hotel is a wonderful place to stay with quality bedrooms  and I look forward to a return visit.

A sea view that is the best!

It has been a pleasure! Room was sweet and cosy directly on the cliff with a perfect view. 

It was great, how many little details are added to the room. Breakfast was perfect with a full hot food menu to choose from. 

I will certainly be back! 
No1 spot in St Ives

Perfect stay, cosy and sweet

We have been staying at the Pedn Olva for some 20 years and have just spent a week there at the end of January. There was a problem with no hot water on one day, these things happen and it was dealt with (Jack on Front Desk) in a professional way ensuring that the issue was resolved as quickly as possible. Overall one of our best visits the food was good but what stood out was a really positive change in the teams attitude. They were all friendly  attentive and really did all they could to make us feel at home and looked after. Nice to be recognised by the lady who took our dinner order on the Friday (sorry I don't know her name) Thank you for a great stay.

Great Stay in January

The fish pie had no prawns in it . The kale was ice cold.
The £32 French red was not available but the waitress suggested a nice cabernet sauvignon. Which was lovely and so it should be it was £20 more expenive at £56.
I had presumed she had suggested a wine in roughly the same price bracket !
Returned the next day and told about the wine but got a shoulder shrug .
Ordered steak which took 50 minutes to arrive however they did take the wine off the bill.
A nice place with fantastic views but wont be going back.

Wine shock

We have just return from another visit to Pedn Olva,  St Ives. We stayed for 4 nights this time. We stayed in 2 rooms, both very well equipped, spotlessly clean with comfy beds and pillows. The view from both rooms, 31 and 25, is stunning. Breakfast was delicious. 
There was staffing issues in the restaurant on the 2 occasions we ate at the hotel leading to quite a wait for our evening  meals.  The poor chef worked his socks off to feed a very busy restaurant full of hungry guests. Any complaints made by guests  (not us I hasten to add) were dealt with professionally by the fabulous waitresses. What an assest to the Pedn Olva they are. The wait didn't affect the standard of the food served which was delicious. Upon returning to our room after a lovely day out and about, there was a complementary  voucher for a cream tea for 2! How lovely was that! 
We love this hotel and can't wait to return again in November. Would thoroughly recommend you stay here when visiting St Ives.

Perfect Pedn Olva

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for two nights to celebrate my 60th birthday weekend. We arrived and parked in the station car park which is next to the hotel. The hotel does not have its own dedicated car park. You pay £10 per day to park and collect a parking permit from reception to display in the windscreen of your car. The hotel has yellow reserved bays in the car park.
We were allocated room nine which was a small but nice double with a great sea view and its own access to a small outdoor balcony area. The bed was listed as king-size but was definitely smaller than that. However it was comfortable. 
The room has tea making facilities,  coffee machine and bottled water.
The bathroom is very small indeed but it does what its supposed to do.  After all, you don't spend all day in the bathroom.
The bar and restaurant are nice with great views over St I especially Bay. The drink prices are reasonable and varied. The food is somewhat a la carte ish and a tad pricey. We are quite fussy eaters and found making a choice quite difficult.  We opted for the fish and chips (can't go wrong) and it was first class. Big portion size and tasty. We didn't have a pudding as we were stuffed. If you are a food explorer then I am sure the menu is fine.
The hotel itself is nice and clean.
The views are great. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. 
We would definitely stay here again.

60th birthday weekend.

Fantastic staff and amazing room from when we arrived until we left the staff were so helpful and friendly I can’t wait to return the restaurant was well run and the food was great
The views from the bar restaurant and our room were amazing we even saw dolphins playing in the bay

Fantastic hotel

Where to start, the view from the breakfast room, great staff and service. Loved the fire in the bar / restaurant. The view from our bedroom right onto Porthminster beach was stunning. Just a few steps and you're on the beach for a bracing walk before breakfast.
