I stayed here recently for the first time in a few years. I enjoyed my last stay but I believe the place is under new ownership. I was allocated a room which could only be described as a box room. Just one single bed and not much room for anything else. In desperate need of a refurb as the room was shabby and tatty. The bathroom was again tatty and the light was so dim I had to leave the bathroom door open to get light from the room lights. I wouldn’t stay again with the rooms in the current state. Shame really as the restaurant is good.

I returned once again to visit friends in fabulous Stamford in Lincolnshire, having already booked without hesitation, my stay at the Green Man Pub, professionallly and wonderfully hosted by George and his great team 🙂
George's wife had  immaculately and comfortably prepared my double room as always, and did so daily ( thank you 😊🙏 ) in this quaintly characteristic listed building (once used in an episode of the BBC soap drama East Enders).
Nothing was ever a problem and all the staff were just so warm and friendly as usual 😊 Thank you and see you again 😉



Another Wonderful Stay 😎👌

I was accommodated for the weekend in the historic Green Man Pub listed building.
The bar staff effectively managed my room booking, prior to the long drive up from West Sussex.
On arrival, owner George was warmly welcoming and remained so throughout my stay; in the quaint, sash windowed and snug # 2 double room.
George and all his staff ran the historic  establishment in a refreshing, wonderful, laid back, cheery atmosphere. Just right and a credit to Stamford and the trade.

A Lovely Laid Back Stay

Stayed at the Green Man with my partner whilst visiting my sister. We arrived early, but the owners went out if their way to finish making up our room.
It was extremely cold outside, and we asked for another heater, which was put in our room really quickly.
Nothing was too much trouble, with the owners being so welcoming. Breakfast wasn't included as no chef, but I'm sure it would have been first class too. Great place to stay, and we would definitely stay again if visiting.

Great little find

Great range of drinks but we were put off by the jukebox blasting out which made conversation near impossible. There is an outside drinking area which at times can get very rowdy and the language leaves a lot to be desired. They have live music at times which my please some.

Bit noisy 

Spent the night with my newlywed wife at this small, local pub. The barmaid was very helpful and sorted our booking and showed us the quaint accomodation on the second floor. Being the only guests, we didn't mind having shower and toilet down the hallway.

Being on honeymoon, we received a very warm welcome from George, the proprietor, who also went great lengths in recommending places to visit and where to dine.

Delightful night at charming pub

We arrived at this pub after a stressful journey from Surrey on a Friday afternoon expecting to check in to their hotel facilities, having booked a double room the night before. Unfortunately, due to a "glitch" on Google my booking had been wrongly directed to The Green Man in StaNford, Bedfordshire, 50 miles away. As we needed to be in Sheffield early the next morning, there was no option but to find alternative accommodation in Stamford. Luckily the kind Landlord quickly prepared a room that he had not intended to sell that night due to a late check-out, reduced the price to match that of what I had paid at my original booking at the "other" Green Man and couldn't have been more understanding. (Apparently this has happened before but Google have not been very helpful in trying to sort the problem out.)
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with tea and coffee facilities, two double beds and despite being at the front of the building was extremely quiet. 
Thank you so much to the Landlord for fitting us in at such short notice - and I hope Google sort this problem out to stop it happening again!

Lovely, friendly service. The new girl serving is a real pleasure. A great atmosphere and seems to draw a great crowd.  A historic building with a nice selection of drinks in a great setting. Great find. I’ll be back.

Great English pub with lots of guest beers served in a nice surrounding of a beautiful old building. 
Staff are good & work hard & the beer garden is quite large.  
They can cater for large groups of people.

Landlady very abusive and rude. Great place but she lets it down, should consider the way she talks to customers and the fact that they will tell others this. Such a shame but looking at other reviews we are not the first to encounter this.
