This is the Garden everyone wants ..Take time walk around the lake and enjoy the peace combined with the fantasy ideas bought back from the wealthy owners Grand tour.It's a special place well worth stopping for a couple of hours if passing on the A303

A grand Garden

Firstly the location is great, quiet, right next to the gardens entrance, lovely views and the Spread Eagle pub 100m up the road. Check in was ok, we followed the instructions on the confirmation form, but we never saw the owners or any other guests (don't think there were any) in the 24 hours we were there. The room was adequate, but nothing special, not a superior large double room (that supposedly could sleep 5!) that we thought we had booked. There was a small TV perched on the windowsill and the radiator set at max kept the room warm. The WIFI was signal was good, just as well as there is no mobile signal on any network in that area. The bathroom/toilet was across the hall on to which 3 other rooms opened, not what we expected. The shower seemed to have two settings, very hot and scalding, I couldn't put my head under it, too painful! The shower tray rapidly filled with water, the plug presumably need unblocking. Breakfast was across the road at the Spread Eagle pub, about 100m walk to the entrance, ok if its not raining I suppose. The cooked breakfast was fine, but there was little choice in the way of fruit and cereals which is our normal breakfast. We were not in a rush anyway, but the service was very slow. We booked via Trivago/Booking.com and supposedly got a discounted rate of £130 instead of £160. At £130 I would expect an en suite room and not to have to travel for breakfast, at £160 I would expect lot more. There are only two reserved parking spaces for the B&B in the pub car park, however with a large van parked in the next reserved space my medium sized 4x4 meant that there was only space for 1 vehicle in the "double space", after that it is pot luck in a small car park with lots of reserved spaces already.

Good location, Nice B&B, but ...........

Firstly the locations is excellent and the building is lovely.

However, the room was extremely tired and wasn't made up when we arrived, eve though we got there at 1.30pm and it says 11:30am check in.

It wasn't a delux room as it describes, that's is a grand overstatement for a very basic room.

Breakfast was OK, but they were completely unaware we were turning up, all seemed a bit disorganised. 

So much potential at this bnb, but poorly executed in our opinion. 

To top it off, Staff at the natatiol Trust were unbelievably rude to us, especially when showing the vouchwr for the grounds. Remarks like "everyone would love to get in for free" and general grunting when leaving, very odd!!

Run down but quaint

We spent the day at Stourhead and stayed for one evening. Just lovely - a real home from home. Milk and cold drinks in the kitchen along with snacks we were welcome to help ourselves to. The room was lovely and clean, with a comfy bed (we stayed in the Church Room with private bathroom across the hall) so a great nights sleep. Breakfast across the road at the Spread Eagle pub was excellent! Couldn't fault a thing.

Perfect Cottage B&B

Just the one night (unfortunately! ) but we'll be back. Excellent period B&B with very comfortable room plus bathroom.  All amenities  include wifi. Dog friendly and with entrance to the NT gardens this will definitely be on our revisit list.

Excellent B&B with plenty of period charm.

This property is located at the entrance of Stourhead Gardens.  The property is very unique and in what is best described as a rustic or historic building.  That being said the B&B is very well appointed with a full kitchen, en suite bathrooms and living room and dinning room.  It even has a washer and dryer that we used.  Our room was comfortable and the bathroom a nice size.  This property could best be described as having a lot of character.  Getting access to the room was very easy using the instructions emailed to us.  The Spread Eagle Inn is across the street were we received complimentary breakfasts.  Both mornings I had Eggs Benedict, one day delicious and one day sub-par.  We also had two dinners which were both very good.  The Gardens are beautiful and the tour of the Main House very interesting.  Cost of admittance to both were included with our room.  The location and ambiance of the property heavily influenced my overall rating.  It was an extremely peaceful stay.

Great Way to enjoy Stourhead Gardens

We loved our stay here,  Our accommodations were very nice and, given the surroundings, were a good value.  The four of us were surprised, amazed really, at how beautiful the grounds were.  We had the place pretty much to ourselves in the late evening and early morning, allowing the photographers in our group (three of the four) to take dozens of superb shots.  I'd recommend this place very strongly to anyone considering a visit to the general area.

Great place to stay and visit

We stayed at the Stourhead Gardens B & B last night in the church room. It was a delightful room with a very comfortable bed, we slept like logs!!

The landlady Sally is a kind & very welcoming host & we also had the use of the kitchen, dining room & lounge. 

The breakfast is served across the road in the Spread Eagle Inn, the breakfast was superb (we actually eat there the evening we arrived & again the following lunchtime which was spent with some of our children & grandchildren as it was Mother's Day today) all three of our meals were excellent.

I can throughly recommend both the Stourhead Gardens B & B & the Spread Eagle Inn
