What an absolute delight this place is! We had lunch with friends and family recently, and immediately booked to come back for afternoon tea. 
The hotel is down a long lane right by a small beach. The staff are wonderful and the food is very very good. Lunch was a set menu but staff checked to be sure that the menu suited us all. Our lactose-intolerant friend loved her meal.
Afternoon tea could not have been better, generous sandwiches, the freshest of scones,homemade jam...

We booked last minute for a one night stay at Knockinaam Lodge.  Everything from our arrival to departure was fantastic.  On arrival we were greeted and our luggage was taken straight to our room.  We were then treated to delicious coffee and homemade shortbread in the cosy lounge.  Our predinner drinks were served by a very polite and friendly server - sorry we didn’t get any names.  Dinner was absolutely delicious.  Beautifully presented and worthy of a Michelin star.  Breakfast was equally delicious.  
Our bedroom was beautifully presented, the bed extremely comfortable.  
We can’t wait to stay again.  We even bought jars of the marmalade and jam we enjoyed at breakfast! 
A gem of a place.

Romantic Getaway

We stayed for 3 nights last week and had another super time in Churchill.  This was our 3rd visit and the food, staff and general ambience is warm, welcoming and traditional but not necessarily in an old fashioned sense other than it’s hard to find all three at once these days.

We enjoyed it so much that we’ve booked to come in July.

Beautiful location in quiet seaside retreat. Very comfotable accommodation, huge bed and large clean ensuite.
 Outstanding menus totally different every meal and food to die for -  better than the Inver. All dietary requirements well catered for. What more can say!

We had a wonderful weekend with family and friends celebrating a special anniversary. The facilities, service, food and drink were all of the very highest order. It’s a wonderful venue in every way.

David was incredibly helpful in suggesting an itinerary and helping with food and wine choices and Gavin and the team ensured our every need was met.

Spent two nights here to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Lovely comfortable room. Excellent staff and beautiful food. Tea on arrival served with home made shortbread; liked the wee touches like nocellara olives and handmade crisps served with pre dinner drinks. Tasting menu was really good. Appreciated the fact that ingredients were locally sourced, indeed many came from the hotel’s own kitchen garden. Breakfast offered plenty of options and again, jam and marmalade were home made. Very talented chef. Thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing weekend. 

Anniversary experience made special.

Incredible barbecue experience at The Cove - first time of having butterflied leg of lamb on the barbecue.  We were made to feel really welcome even though we were not staying at the hotel and were really well looked after.

Money spent on the garden and exterior better spent inside. Location lovely but felt like an eventide home. Dining room tables for 2 lined up with military precision …odd and awkward.  Foodwise it is the tasting menu or nothing and being miles from anywhere that is it. Living on past glory the food was OK but not great. Do not recommend.

Location and staff lovely….as for the rest…

My wife loved the hotel.  The position and quality of staff and of service are outstanding.  But, our room choice/allocation was very unfortunate.  Three nights in Glen are not to be recommended.  On arrival I found the loo handle very loose; tightening was no problem.  But it takes almost 10 minutes to refill the cistern.  There are no proper curtains so you have about 4.5 hours of darkness.  First day out to buy eye masks.   The old sash window rattles away all night.  Sleep quality was bad.  Most disappointing - 1*.

I was not aware that there is no menu choice, but a 5/6 course tasting menu each night.  It is mostly outstanding but as a GERD sufferer I was in big trouble.  Don’t just tell them your allergies, tell them if you cannot eat acidic things at night.  It was my mistake because I know “I’ve done tasting menus”.    But it came as a shock.  So 5* restaurant pulled down to 3* because Glen was dire and not worth the £££.  Pay more and get a room with proper curtains and windows!
